We have been on a class 4 River before but this one was much more. We experienced multiple class 3's that were amazing before even reaching the 4. We got hung in a rock in a 3 sideways and had to get rammed by another boat to attempt to free us at 1st and OMG this was an experience! Highly recommend this outfit and Ed our guide! read more

Gone here twice now and they do a great job! Make you feel very safe and the rapids are fun. They had 2 class 4 rapids that were intense. There is times where you are just floating down the river and can admire the surrounding views. The pictures at the end are $35 but you get all of your pictures and they are quickly sent to your phone, I think this is worth it! read more

Amazing! My husband and I went last week during our honeymoon. Ed was awesome. We loved it! My husband wants to move to Hartford and do the training to be a guide. We'll see! We booked the upper river experience and had an awesome time with Raft Outdoor Adventures! This was the first-time rafting for our family of four. Totally lived up to our expectations! It was a thrill and we really experienced the power of the river. Definitely felt we were safe the entire time, with their friendly, knowledgeable team. We went in mid-march, for spring break. WOW!!! What an experience. We showed up 14 deep, and all 14 said they enjoyed it and would do it again. Relaxing and Exciting all in the same trip. Booked with them recently for their Upper Pigeon River rafting trip. Select a trip and an available date/time on line. Purchase your tix and sign the electronic waivers. Pretty straightforward. As long as you do all that, all you gotta do is check in when you arrive at their base. They usually have a coupon code to use on line that will give you a decent discount. You can leave your car keys in the office. Anyway, at their HQ, you'll be assigned to a guide. You'll get your helmet, life jacket and paddles. Then off you go on a short bus ride. The boats hold up to 7-8 people. We had five in our group and got a boat to ourselves. The trip is fun. Nothing crazy. They say Class II and III. We've done rafting trips in Oregon and California that were a little more gnarly, but this was cool. They have restrooms and showers on site. Also, there was a food truck, though we didn't partake. This was my first time ever going white water rafting and I am so happy at how this company handled everything from start to finish. They take care of you from the moment you come in. They give you all the information of where you'll be checking in and how their team will be there to guide you the rest of the way. Additionally, they will take your car keys and label it so you can grab it after the trip. There are no lockers, so everything goes in your car. From there, you take a bus to the rafting point, which borders North Carolina. During the trip their guides crack jokes and help break tension before we stop. From there they reinforce all safety policies. As you engage and start your adventure your guide will be sure your safe and will also give you some historical and fun facts about the river you raft down. Definitely a great time and I highly recommend it. Only suggestion is to map the name of the place and not the address. As the address drops you off somewhere random. read more

Our group had a fun time on the rapids. Our only complaint was they paired our group with another group. We had 5 people in our group, they paired us with a group of 4. The issue was they split up a group of 9 and paired the four with our five. Why wouldn't you just let the group of 9 ride together? It just didn't make sense to us. But the staff was really friendly and we had an enjoyable time. read more

We enjoyed our rafting trip, though the water level was a bit low so the rapids were somewhat tame. (Mother nature's fault, not the company's). Took a group of 11 high school seniors out and had a great time in the sun and fresh air. The guides were awesome and helped us have a great time. We had the best experience with Kyle! He was just so down to earth and hilarious. We had younger kids with us and did the lower Pigeon tour. We definitely plan on making another trip from Florida to Tennessee in the future to conquer the upper Pigeon. We had a great time on our first rafting experience. We chose the lower river as we are newbies and had our 8 year old with us. Our guide, John, was very nice. We got started a little later than the time we were scheduled for but the ride was long and well worth it. We would love to go again and maybe give the class 3 and 4 rapids a go. read more

Can't believe I never wrote a yelp review.. It's nearly a year later and still I so often think back of this trip I took.. not the overall Gatlinburg experience but this specific rafting company and how they saved my trip! I couldn't leave TN without rafting, it's tradition.. and because of the season everywhere was closed until I called here and I asked Jess if they were doing any trips today and I'll never forget her words she said quote "I mean..... we can" I was like "TF? Does that mean... oh well LET GO!" And soon we were on our way. We arrived, no cars in the parking lot. Nervous- did we just walk into a horror movie in the TN woods?! Will we be eaten? What's happening... A car pulls in, its Jess opening up shop. We go in nervously and soon learn it's just us! And a tour guide! (Ummm Private raft trip? Opening up just so my trip could be saved?... super heros are real.) So we're waiting on our guide, who's coming in on an off day. (Expecting a little grumpy person maybe sleepy, possibly moody were making someone get in freezing cold water...) in walks AJ, and life was forever changed. Excited, energized, ready to go! Actually excited about getting to raft, and not a single care was given about the cold- he thought it was awesome! AJ was SO entertaining, and SO wonderful to have take us out on the river. He is a true TN gem, I mean okay y'all the water wasn't great snow was melting and I've done super crazy rapids before, but he made it easily the BEST trip I've ever had on any river ever. We had a great experience at Raft Outdoor Adventures. Everyone we dealt with were awesome. The front staff, the online process, everything. We were able to reschedule due to bad weather, which I highly appreciate. The use of the wetsuits to keep us warm was a good choice. Our guide, Carver, was great. Let me just say this was the favorite part of our entire week long trip for everyone in the family! We had 11 adults and two kids split between two different rafts. We were able to call ahead and do same day reservations within two hours of when we called. The lady on the phone was great and even gave us a group discount. She allowed us each to pay separate when we got there instead of one person being responsible for it all! The check in process was easy and efficient when we arrived, and everyone was friendly! We only had to wait about 20 minutes to get going. The plus side to the wait is the delicious taco food truck you can grab street tacos from while you wait! The bus ride was short and sweet and the guides tell jokes and give instructions during the ride. We had a "fun group" and a group that wanted to take it easy, since we had to split into two different rafts. The fun group went with Fortner (or Fortnite) and he was amazing to say the least! We had SO MUCH FUN with him. He knew our group wanted to have a good time and he gave us all sorts of trips and tricks to maximize our trip down the river. He was patient and easy going and we had a blast! The other group had Mike Mac and they also thought he was great! He kept it a little easier for them since they had a few scared folks starting out, but they still had a good time! The process to leave was just as smooth and they have a cute little shop with some great things to buy inside. Would recommend over and over again!! read more

My family and I were looking for something fun to do while in Tennessee. We range in age from 18-79, so our options are limited, but this experience was perfect for our family of 9! We went rafting today with this company on the upper river and we were blessed to have Chad as our guide. He was amazing!! It was our first time and he explained everything to us. We had a blast! There was a few scary moments when another guides whole crew fell out and further down a river another guide got her raft stuck on a rock for about 45 minutes. We had to wait on the side and it was pouring down rain but overall it was amazing. Chad kept us safe, no one fell out of our raft, we all got drenched and had fun. read more

We had a small boat that was loaded so we could do some tricks. We did so many spins in Chewy's Coffin that it made us almost dizzy! We got to surf for a good long time until the river decide to spit us out. lol. We got the 2 back in the boat and carried on. This was our 6th or 7th time going out with this company. I was hesitant to go on this raft trip. I'm 52 and have never done anything like this before but I'm so glad I did because it was great! Our guide Kyle did a great job keeping us focused and laughing at the same time. We went on July 3rd and my whole family loved it. Kyle was very interactive with all of us. if youre afraid to take the lower trail, dont be! the crazy rapids dont even get that bad, and its super fun! our tour guide was the man who owns the business, and he was amazing. he made is personable, and i really enjoyed it. i was really anxious to do the lower part, but it ended up being awesome. i would go again! dont be afraid to do this! read more
