Short walk everywhere as well, really handy location, to all the places of interests, to the Castle, the Old Market Square, statue of Brian Clough OBE, the Playhouse, Concert Hall, Theatre Royal, the Lace Market, the Contemporary Art Gallery, the lovely Pitcher and Piano, the Naitional Justice Museum, the City of Caves, and for shopping at Broadmarsh and Victoria Centre, and tram and bus stops to go to Green's Windmill or further afield, such as Wollaton Hall. The buffet breakfast was good, the usual Continental fare and full English, with hot tea and coffee. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a flat screen TV. Bed was really comfy and I especially liked the Elemis toiletries. Our room looked over Old Market Square. Efficient and friendly service, and very welcoming. Good value would stay again.

The staff are really friendly which is just lovely and makes the atmosphere really personable. I have to say the icing on the cake of this hotel was the breakfast! It left a lot to be desired in terms of cooked English but the continental spread was just amazing. I really enjoyed it. The only downer for me was that being in the City Centre it was quite loud. Would definately stay again though :)

The cocktails and afternoon teas here are sublime, cocktails can end up being expensive but really quirky. Service is always really good too. Incredible value for money with what you get with your afternoon tea. I was taken here by a very good friend for a pre-xmas treat. The Edgbaston has a lovely menu of different flavoured teas. Before our tiered platter of finger sandwiches and mini cakes arrived, we were presented with an aperitif of elderflower and apple, served in a glass within a bowl of dry ice which then had apple & elderflower juice poured around it to "awaken our smell" senses. Sorry to ruin the surprise! I couldn't smell it but loved the drama and theatre of all the dry smoke pouring out of the bowl on to our table. The sandwiches were lovely (they catered for my friends dietary requirements too), the cakes were scrumptious, especially the salted caramel puff was simply delicious, and then we were served scones some with and some without raisons and jam & cream. Quintessentially British in a very trendy setting i'd say. Thoroughly enjoyed it and at £20per person (this was the no alcohol option) I thought it was very good value. I will definitely go back and sample the alcoholic option :)

We booked in for the last day of the Festive Tea. From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the sheer beauty of this place. We were seated promptly and each given an explanation of the menu. We each went with the Moseley Serve which is the afternoon tea with all the trimmings plus a fancy cocktail (£32 each). As they were still in the festive spirit, they were offering Christmas cocktails. I had In A Pear Tree which was the sweeter of the two offered, with gin, honey, and pear. It was garnished with two slices of dried pear. Great start to the afternoon. As many have mentioned, the china used is beautiful and ornate. It accompanies the dining room perfectly. Even the sugar bowl was visually appealing with cute little bird claw tongs. Everything looks very vintage and was in pristine condition. I was pleasantly surprised at the amuse-bouche that was brought out prior to our cakes and sandwiches. I've never seen anything presented like this at an afternoon tea before. It's a pretty special presentation. It made me feel like I was dining at a Michelin starred restaurant! Now for the food. There were 4 types of sandwiches. I can't remember exactly, but pretty standard sandwiches that you would expect. The cakes, however, were truly exceptional. We were told they were all made in house. They were so pretty I didn't want to eat them. There were a few flavored meringues, macaroons, a mince pie and a boozy rum tart. Very festive and quite good. This is the first time that I ever had afternoon tea and actually enjoyed ALL THE FOOD! Scones (plain and fruit) were brought out last for us with the cream and jam served in adorable but hard to scrape out jars. We were told to dig in as they were nice and warm..but our scones were not warm at all. None the less they still tasted great. The only reason I refuse to give this place full on 5 stars is the service. For the price point and atmosphere I expected top notch service. Our hot water ran out in both tea pots and we were never offered a top up although the menu mentions unlimited hot water top ups for tea. Dirty dishes and glasses were not cleared so our small table was over crowded. It also seemed odd that there wasn't a coat check. Our baggy winter coats were left shuffled next to me on the bench seating. Despite this, everything else was fantastic. They have a fantastic looking cocktail menu. I am hoping they come up with a new seasonal tea soon so I have a reason to try The Edgbaston again!

My best friend's wedding…read more.. The sun was shining, my nails were painted and my fascinator perfectly in place, the day had started well and was only going to get better. We were greeted by the ushers, taken down a beautiful hallway and seated in a dainty room ready for the ceremony. In came the bride, across went the vows, down came the tears and outside we all went. The Pimms was flowing and the 2 hour photo slot began. The backdrop is so beautiful that it wouldn't matter what the weather all the photo's would come out stunning. We walked down a path that leads to a tiny angelic garden and threw our confetti over the radiant bride and groom, it was wonderful. Afterwards we went through to the sun-drenched marquee for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The food was delicious - a succulent chicken breast with creamy dauphinoise potatoes and veg. As the evening drew nearer a separate part of the marquee was unveiled, revealing a dancefloor and more seating for the evening guests. Late on burgers and fish finger sandwiches were on offer but I had already eaten a slice of cake so the rest of my night had been put aside for dancing. If my friend hadn't got married here it would definitely have been a venue option for myself. Everything about the whole day was perfect. The venue, the staff and the food. I know the bride couldn't have been happier, neither could I.

It's testimony to Moxhull Hall that many guests will then either return as paying, dining customers, or perhaps as a happy couple themselves; in turn revisiting post-honeymoon and repeatedly into their future. Moxhull gets raves, with many visitors already aware of the reputation before the experience. It is, it seems, difficult to go just once. But assessing its worth as a wedding venue is for a bride to tell you. Let's talk instead about its place as a stand-alone restaurant and hotel. The best thing about Moxhull is that it feels like neither. Rather, it feels like a secret; its beautiful grounds, entrance hall then friendly staff welcoming you to the brilliant, spacious bar and dining room that you can never quite believe are on site. Feeling like a grand but modern stately home, it's a stretch to think of any commercial enterprise being underway. Main dinner courses, as you may imagine, are not cheap, yet remain affordable, especially with a flat-rate applied to the number of courses rather than individual dishes. And if, after one night cap too many, you must leave the car, one of around 15 rooms should be available to you, subject to wedding bookings. You will feel it in your wallet of course, not too much, although perhaps enough to make you think twice. But it will be worth it and not the last time you lay your head there. It may be exclusive, but it wants to include you.

The restaurant is nice if you don't want to venture out, but since you're near everything good downtown I'd recommend eating out first. The rooms are decent-sized, and staff are helpful. Other than for some reason washcloths being a foreign concept, I had all I could need. I'd return when in town again.

Beds were of low quality with hard, creaky springs. For some reason, the AC would shut off automatically and I'd wake up in a sweltering 80-degrees. The walls were heavily marked up too. The main debacle was the bathroom. The shower drain was so clogged that we'd have to repeatedly turn off the water to wait for some of the water to drain. After reporting to the front desk, we were informed maintenance would fix the issue the following day, but in the end never came. The hotel is located on the rather far out of the city and so requires a bus ride or twenty-minute walk to reach the train stations or businesses. Complimentary breakfast - opening at 6 AM on weekdays and 6:30 AM on weekends - includes a standard selection of food and beverages. Reservations need to be made for breakfast at the front desk despite it just being a breakfast buffet.

Our room was on the first floor and the rooms are numbered as usual but each room is also named after a person who has made a contribution to the city of Lincoln over the years. I thought this was a nice touch, but there is potential to get confused this with guest names. The ensuite room was fantastic and very quiet and comfortable for a good night's sleep. Location wise, it couldn't get more central either, with the castle, cathedral and steep hill being around 5-7 minutes away. The staff were friendly and polite and made the effort to make our stay a comfortable one. You are likely to approach this hotel from Burton Road. Get to the end of Burton road, go right at the roundabout and enter via the gate that is across the street from The Victoria pub. If you look carefully now, you will see directions to the hotel's car park which is in front of the hotel with limited spaces. Follow them and you're there. However, when you enter the campus, you are likely to be tempted to park in the pay and display car park. Don't do that. Based on this experience I would definitely stay there if needed.
