Always an option in getting out of the house for fresh air and exercise.

Location wise it's not the best , but inc you go in , it's Ana amazing place to walk . Parking is a bit small but does fit 20 cars ! The entrance is through a road which is deserted ! I just loved the trial walk . The wooden path is just amazing ! The overall walk is about 1.5 kms per loop .. so 2-3 loops will give you a 5K .. you can also divert off the wooden walkways and walk on the gravel to the back of the Rahway River /lake . Good bird sightings . Saw good ones and could take pics . I also saw woodpeckers but could t take pics ! Loved it overall . Very good place .

Kept looking back and around for other people. Saw a small family, a couple, a man and baby son, a lone guy, a guy with a bike. Still kept looking around. Path: mostly boardwalk and pebbled paths. Tall grass and trees doesn't let you see across path. Path has shade from trees. River/creek/marsh: it was dry, low tide. Didn't see any wildlife there. Smells salty. Tall deer fence: I guess to keep the deer off path? Pretty sure deer can go around it. Signs posted along path with information. No dogs allowed. Views: not much. Lots of tall grass and trees. And the landfill mountain. Very insulated. I wouldn't go alone. You can't see in or out. Poison ivy EVERYWHERE!!!!! Don't touch anything! I did like that there are lots of birds and you can hear them all. It's very quiet and has a good nature feel. I will go back to explore more. I think there needs to be more patrol or surveillance cameras.

I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

The park has two sides, and it was pretty busy when I went in the evening but still spacious. There were lots of families and tons of kids enjoying the playground and people walking the loop. The loop for walking and running is well-maintained and, I believe, about 1 mile long. The park also has seating areas, a gazebo, restrooms, and ample parking. I noticed people playing cricket, baseball, and football, different fields available and there's even a small creek nearby.

Rule of thumb for the spray ground - if the blue and white umbrella is up and open, they're open. Two attendants work at the spray ground daily. Spray ground water is always consistently running - and kids are not fighting over water. (To conserve twp water, water is not running unless patrons/attendees are present) -Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel! -Bring clothes to play at the park after water play! It does have a big parking lot many people come here with there families to have long walk around or to drink. Police don't really bother if you have your liquor in a brown bag. The only thing police would arrest u for is if your smoking weed and I have seen people get arrested. Police come to the park in undercover vehicles. This is a great place for video shoots as well when you go down to the dead end they have these bridges that are close and it's a great place for a video or photo shoot.
