Raibu is a small, but upscale sushi restaurant in the Boise Co-op shopping Center, downtown. It's a new Boise gem. I enjoyed it so much, I hesitate to celebrate it on this platform, for fear of it becoming so popular that it becomes difficult to get a reservation. The staff was kind and inviting, eager to please, and at the too of their game. They were quick to seat us and get our drinks, happy to help is understand some of the ingredients, and offer recommendations. We started with Chicken Karrage, then ordered some Signature Sushi Rolls. I went with the Keiko roll, even though I was a bit concerned about the spice (I asked them to take out the jalapeños). It was incredibly delicious. The full flavor hit me right away, and the heat got me at the end. Not unbearable though. I ate the whole thing! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his North Ender Roll, then we got the Mochi in three glorious flavors. Mango, green tea, and strawberry. Strawberry was my favorite. The location of Raibu is a great spot! I'd say there's plenty of parking, but not so much with all the other shops in that center. It's hit or miss but the shopping center has lots of great shops so onward and upward! There is always some parking on the side over by the Boise Co-op wine tasting room on Fort Street. I absolutely love sushi so much and I was very excited to see the sign go up in the window when they were just about to open. I've avoided going because it's a little Hefty on the pockets and I didn't want to get addicted to another sushi restaurant otherwise I'll go broke, but I had a little extra so I decided to treat myself to a small bite for dinner. I ordered the Dragon Roll which is a staple for me and I also ordered marinated Cucumbers with Crispy Onions and Togarashi. The Cucumbers were tasty but I think could have been a little bit colder and a little bit crunchier and fresher! The crispy onions were a nice touch giving it a little bit of texture on top of texture and the seasoning was tangy and yummy. Not sure it was worth the price at a whopping $8! I think $5 would be a little more on point. I then ordered the Dragon Roll. The going price in town for such a role is in fact between $18 and $20 at least from my experience. I don't find that unreasonable but I will be transparent in saying I have had better at two or three other restaurants in town. I felt the flavors were slightly muddled and the fish was not very cold because I think the rice was a little too warm when they wrapped the fish around it. The other thing is aesthetically you eat with your eyes first! I think that at this price point for these roles a little more drama is in order! It's a Dragon Roll! Maybe some shrimp tails sticking out of it and maybe a little more color would have been great! But that's just me ! I'm a big foodie so the presentation does mean a lot to me. Other than that it was a decent roll. I'm interested to try some others. It was a good roll but not a superior role. I think that there is some room for improvements here and there, but all in all, I do think I will go back and try some other dishes for sure! Absolutely amazing sushi! Felt a little intimidating when you first walk in. We did not have reservations, but they were able to seat us right at the sushi bar (where we wanted to sit anyways). Our waitress was informative, polite, and down to earth! The sushi chefs were super nice. The one taught us how they cut the cucumber (Japanese technique as well as American / or easy way lol!) Had miso soup as well. I will be back! So happy to have a variety of superb and high end sushi in Boise. I highly recommend.... Don't be intimated. Raibu Sushi Bar is by far the most amazing place I have been to. I came to Idaho from Hawaii 25 years ago. I grew up having authentic sushi but have not found anything that came close in Idaho. We finally tried Raibu Sushi, tucked away in the Boise Co-op shopping center, and wow... this place absolutely blew us away. Hands down, the best sushi we've ever had, and we cannot wait to go back. This is an upscale sushi experience without feeling stuffy. The service was superior, and the food came out shockingly fast, in the best way. We started with miso soup that had a generous amount of seaweed and tofu, then ordered the gyoza (you get six). They were cooked perfectly, and the dipping sauce was incredible with just the right amount of spice. We almost ordered another round but somehow resisted. Next came the otoro nigiri (fatty tuna) and salmon sashimi, both completely melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Then we tried the Raibu Roll, topped with torched, smoky-flavored wagyu, sturgeon caviar from Hagerman, Idaho, and gold dust. It was stunning to look at and even better to eat, truly unforgettable. The Boise Roll was our other choice, with lobster and spicy tuna. It's lightly fried, not heavily deep-fried like many places, so it adds a bit of crunch without overpowering the fish. You can really taste the quality here. The wasabi is freshly grated, not the tube stuff, and the ginger tasted house-pickled instead of the typical pink version. They were busy on a Monday night around 7 pm, but we had reservations and were seated right away. The restaurant itself is small, intimate, and dimly lit, making it a perfect date night spot. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you're getting. Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. We can't wait to return. read more

I was so excited to try this place that we made reservations for a Sunday dinner. We were greeted promptly and give a small table in the corner. The high top table was unleavened like you'd expectation a fast food restaurant. The pork belly appetizer was nicely done. My sake nigiri was good but the tuna belly was not fresh and had a grainy texture and both orders of nigiri were room temperature. My husband ordered a California roll that had a strong fishy taste that was odd. For the price point and hype I excepted better. Our server seemed overwhelmed and didn't check in for drinks or to see how our meal was. We finally went to the hostess to pay. Hopefully they will live up to their marketed expectations. read more

We were dining on 7/12/26 with a 6pm reservation, and the hostess asked us to leave at 7:25pm because "there is a reservation for our table." We resisted and said "we have a reservation too, and we've never ever asked to leave our table in the middle of our meals." The hostess insisted and we continued to resist. We were appalled and shocked by her attitude and demeanor and tone of voice towards us. I finally said "you're being rude." She said "I'm not rude. The reservation is for 1.5 hours." My friend said "that's on you as no where did it say that when we made the reservation." It was insulting and ruined the dining experience for us as the hostess's behaviors were the opposite of hospitality we typically would be provided from a fine dinining establishment. The waitstaff came afterwards and apologized, and offered us a round of drinks on the house. The damage was done and we will never go back nor recommend the service of this restaurant to other diners. Also, the sushi rice used in our rolls was not well prepared for a high end sushi restaurant (rolls were falling apart instead of staying rolled). read more

I was super excited as we were celebrating my wife's birthday! Had done my research and all the reviews from this restaurant seemed as it was going to be the best sushi in town. We started with some miso soup and edamame to share for the table. Then we ordered the Boise roll, kaiko, Stanley, bergsneider ?, spider roll, north ender... they were all very tasty, but our favorite by far was the Boise, with a crunchy tempura. The Kaiko felt apart, the entire roll. The service was good. But it took a little while for us to get our rolls as expected. Ambien was nice. Raibu has provided Boise an evolving and modern food scene that provides diverse eats and refreshing cuisine. I went here over a month ago and genuinely loved the service, environment and intimate space. It can get loud with how small the space is, however still a great setting for various types of reservations. Food was delicious although the yakitori could be more grilled. Oysters were a hit as the garnishes weren't overwhelming the natural taste of the oyster itself. They portioned it just right. Although the food was great quality, the price has led me to make this an occasional place to eat. This is just a personal preference and should not stop anyone from going to experience this place!:) What stood out was that they are the first place to do Omakase in our city from what I know growing up here which is so exciting. For that experience alone, it would be a wonderful place to experience and try out. In the end, again personally, I would be just as content to go somewhere more cost-affordable with just as amazing quality like Fujiyama in Meridian or the authenticity of Wasabi. read more

I don't post reviews often, but felt the need to leave a review for this restaurant after going today for the first time, I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. Honestly, was extremely disappointed, especially considering the price compared to competitors within the area. My wife, daughter, and I went here for lunch on Father's Day. The only enjoyable dish we had was the marinated cucumber. Even the edamame and basic rice in the Bento box were over seasoned and just did not taste good. The chicken karaage was extremely rubbery and inedible, a sign of very poor quality meat. My wife's spicy tuna roll was okay, but definitely not worth the price. The worst dish overall was the chirashi bowl I got. The fish was of the lowest quality, chewy texture and extremely fishy taste. I've had fresher fish from almost anywhere else in the area, especially when it comes to designated sushi restaurants. The rice was also extremely sour and tasted of straight vinegar and fish. It honestly was inedible and the worst chirashi bowl I have ever gotten from memory. I honestly can't think of the last time I had sushi that was so fishy and inedible. Probably my worst dining experience from memory. Will definitely never be coming back and would highly recommend that anyone goes to other sushi restaurants in the area over Raibu. My husband and I dined at Raibu Sushi last night and loved the food! This is our first sushi experience since moving to ID from NorCal a year ago and it is on point with great sushi restaurants we've eaten at previously. We had Edamame, hamachi, octopus, Boise roll and Stanley roll, plus a bottle of Chardonnay! Our favorite was the Boise roll. All the fish is very fresh with no odor. The restaurant decor is modern and very well done and incorporates multiple elements including wood, fabric, glass and what appeared to be cement or stucco behind the sushi bar. The vibe was upbeat and fun. All the waitresses we encountered were super helpful and friendly. Restrooms were clean but there was no signage on the doors (there were two) which was a little confusing. Our comments or suggestions for improvement are 1. Check the soy sauce pitchers on the tables before seating a new party- ours was empty. 2. Bring or offer to bring ginger and wasabi if parties are ordering sushi; we had to ask for it. 3. A drop of wasabi the size of a garbanzo bean is not enough! Increase the size of the wasabi portion. 4. THE MENU PRINT! I'm attaching photos but we literally couldn't read it. Font size was 8 or smaller and in low light it was extremely hard to read even with our mobile phone light. We asked the waitress if there were reading glasses available and she said not yet but the owners had ordered some! We suspect you were trying to keep the menu to one page but take the plunge and make the font bigger and make it 2-3 pages! 5. Octopus dish- lightly seared but we felt it should've been cooked more? Maybe this was a different type of octopus than we've eaten before. 6.wine selection - great start but can you offer a few more Chardonnay selections? There was one by the glass and a second selection by the bottle. Note: menu price on the bottle was $145.00 and when our bill came we noted it was charged at $155,00, so we asked our waitress to adjust this, which she did. 7. Sushi rolls: can you offer more selections with seared tuna? It's such a great fish for rolls and we would love more choices that contain tuna. 8. The 3% charge to use a credit card for the bill - we understand you pay a fee to process credit cards, but it would be good to post this info on your website so customers can bring cash if they don't want to pay the fee. We would've paid in cash if we had known. We thoroughly enjoyed our Raibu experience and will be back. Our waitress was wonderful and we appreciate the great food and great service! read more

The owner, Kash Feng, President of the Omakase Restaurant Group, owns Michelin-starred SF restaurants Omakase and Niku Steakhouse. So clearly he knows what he's doing and we are SO lucky he chose Boise for his latest venture. We had the following: *Edamame & Miso Soup *Tempura Moriawase (some of the most flavorful and lightly breaded yet super crunchy tempura shrimp & vegetables I've had. I love the creative addition of radish) *Spicy Tuna Senbei (spicy tuna on a nori rice cracker with eel sauce, tobiko, green onions & spicy mayo) WOW! Such a perfect starter. So flavorful and the crunch of the nori rice cracker was excellent. Spicy tuna crispy rice....take a seat! ;) *Boise Roll (lobster, spicy tuna, eel sauce, scallions, spicy aioli, toasted sesame lightly fried) The light tempura and fry on this roll is outstanding! Not heavy and 90% coating like most fried rolls. *The North Ender Roll (salmon, avocado, shiso, yuzu tobiko, lemon, salmon roe) The additions of the little slices of lemon and yuzu tobiko on top were so bright, citrusy and refreshing) *Stanley Roll (shrimp tempura, salmon, tuna, avocado, spicy kabayaki sauce, crispy potato sticks) Those potato sticks made it!! Perfect flavor and texture. I love how the rolls are packed with ingredients, but not overdone and they are cut into small, manageable slices that can easily be eaten in one bite. A pet peeve of mine are those overly stuffed rolls that you practically have to cut in half to manage. Also, you know this is a pro sushi place when there is not a drop of cream cheese in sight. Thank goodness! Some may say the prices are a little steep, but I'm willing to pay for the quality of ingredients and fish the owner clearly sources from top notch suppliers. My only criticism (and this is a nitpick that leans towards organization, NOT the food) is we had a reservation for four of us and got seated at the sushi bar, not a table. I asked if we could have a table instead and was told that was all that was available. It's hard to have a conversation when you're seated side by side, and my sister and I were dining with my college aged nieces home for the holiday week and we need to be able to talk :) All in all: go there now!! After dining at Raibu I had to look up the meaning of the word. Live performance....and that it was. The Omakase was nothing short of amazing. Each dish beautifully presented by engaging, charming chefs who are also artists. Flavors were beyond varied and delicious, beautiful presentation and attentive, lovely and delightful servers. The waitstaff is as exceptional as the food. Dinner was so special we returned the next night for an off the menu dinner. Again, exceedingly special and unique, delicious and varied choices and each terrific. We loved the Johan Vineyard pinot wine, a great accompaniment to our meal. Don't miss dessert. I am a chocoholic and loved the chocolate lava cake. Although I was hesitant about the green tea cheesecake, it presents beautifully and was delicious. A must experience dining pleasure. read more

My boyfriend and I visited last night and WOW, I have not had an experience like this before. I called ahead to get a reservation and was told they only had space at the sushi bar which was fine and in hindsight truly made a huge difference. We were seated in front of Manny and asked him to curate some of his favorites for us. We tried a few things we wouldn't normally order but will ABSOLUTELY order again here. The fish was so fresh and well selected. The atmosphere was quaint, clean and upscale but relaxed. The staff were all very attentive, food came out on time and with a lot of care. We were shocked to have such an experience so close to home. I can't stop telling friends and family about Raibu. We will absolutely be back. I took no photos because I was enjoying being in the moment. If you come across this review it's your sign to trust me and try Raibu. You won't regret it. Top quality and unique ingredients, superb waitstaff and a great atmosphere inside and out. On our first visit, my fiancé tried the miso marinated black cod. It was cooked to absolute perfection and full of flavor. I tried a variety of sushi options including nigiri and one roll (the Bergschneider roll). The roll size is perfect, with just the right amount of each ingredient. All of the raw fish was fresh and delicious. They are bringing to the table a ton of options that Boise has never seen before. The waitstaff are clean cut, friendly and professional, spending just the right amount of time at the table. We have been back multiple times and are now in the habit of setting our next reservation before we leave. This is the sushi restaurant Boise didn't know it needed. Their maki sushi are very good. Nigiri sushi I ordered were also very good with one HUGE disappointment with their Uni nigiri. They charged market price for two pieces (which is normal), but they pulled a bait and switch when my Uni nigiri arrived. Two nigiri pieces had a small bit of Uni accompanied by salmon ikura. I have eaten Uni nigiri at many restaurants in the US and Japan, and I never had ikura thrown in along with Uni pieces. Ikura's saltiness just overpowered the delicacy of the sea urchin. Above transgression and the noisy environment made me give this place 4 stars instead of 5. You will have a great time if you don't need to have an intimate conversation with your guest, and not waste your $ on expensive uni nigiri. read more
