My parents have been banking here for almost 30 years. For me it's only been 25 years. I wanted a European checking account so I could use "eurocheques". Before there were ATMs and before credit cards were accepted in most places, and before there was a euro, these little pieces of paper together with a card, could be used to pay in the local currency. It was guaranteed up to a certain amount and deducted from your checking acct.
At the time, I did not live in Germany. I did not own a house in Germany. But the then owner of the bank let me have an act. Score! A quarter of a century later, we still know the folks who work there. Maria is a personal friend of the family and takes care of all our financial needs. Plus she emotionally supports my recently widowed mother. Way to go!
Plus they have online banking. I can pay bills electronically from anywhere in the world that has internet access. Definitely a keeper! read more
