The staff are friendly here, and despite having just one staff member working at the time of my visit, she appeared to be very fast and efficient and got customers in and out quickly with a good level of service and knowledge. While I would have preferred at least two clerks working and/or the self-service postage machines, it is certainly ample for a smaller Post Office in this location. There is both street parking nearby and a small parking lot, however, the latter is shared by other nearby businesses on Parr Lane so it rarely has spaces. I would also advise you to plan your visit outside of school hours, due to the proximity to the nearby school, the area can become a little unpleasant. 4*

The post office itself is quite small and at busy times it can be cramped. They have 4 cashier points, but I've rarely seen more than 2 members of staff serving at busy times. The last collection time at the post box outside is 5pm (if you miss it, wizz down to West Vale Shops, as the collection there is 5:30pm.) Opening hours are: Mon-Fri 9am-5.30pm Sat 9am-12:30pm Sunday- Closed.

It is housed as part of a Manchester Souvenirs and News store. When the Post Office first opened, I noticed a lot of teething issues, such as being closed during opening hours or the staff being poorly trained to deal with basic services such as posting letters, however, since then, they've improved. With the main Crown Post Office closing on Spring Gardens, this store has done a good job in preparing their staff for the closure with extra support and training, yet I do feel there is more to do - there is regularly only one staff member working the Post Office, even at busy times. I understand being just a counter as part of a larger newsagents, it is difficult to find the space, but it would be great if they could reduce the waiting times, or perhaps even install the self-service machines, similar to what we see at other Post Office locations. They are open until 18:00 with the last collection for mail during the week at around 17:15 - this is pretty standard for a Post Office, however there are many other nearby Post Offices open later with Deansgate closing at 21:30 and Arndale closing at 23:00 during the week. I'm not a big fan of the newsagents which generally sell overpriced drinks and cheap tat/souvenirs, however, the staff are generally friendly and the location is especially handy for me as I don't need to carry larger parcels into and around town after getting off the bus at Shudehill. 3*

Hebers Post Office is just at the top of Hollin Lane in Middleton and is actually quite a nice post…read moreoffice, it may be smaller than your city centre ones however this is because it is a local post office and it is still quite a good one. It is in a newsagents type shop that sells a few basic essentials and at the end of the store they is a desk where you can send your post with Royal Mail. I have been to this post office many times, it has parking just outside but that can only fit a car or two, if all else fails they is street parking. The staff are also very nice here and I always find myself having a conversation with them, every time I do visit. As well as sending letters you can also sort out Car Tax, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance and even get National Express tickets at this branch! (and they is more!) This post office is just one of the examples of why you should be supporting your local post office as coming here sees friendly staff and avoiding long queues you would see at the nearby Middleton branch for example.

This is a very popular post office in Ashton, Preston. It not very big but it does do all the…read morebasics that you would expect. It sells greeting cards and stationary too. There is on street free parking at the side. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. Sometimes it can get quite busy and gets queued out the door but the staff are quick so you don't usually have to wait long. One thing to note is that it doesn't do car tax so you will have to go to other post office for that which is on Blackpool Road.

They have a good amount of counters, and also had a good amount of staff working meaning the queue seemed to go down pretty quickly, so the wait wasn't too bad. They didn't have any automated self-service postal machines, I would have liked to see them here as most Post Offices, even those within WHSmith locations do seem to have them. It's a shame to see Altrincham Post Office shut on Sunday's, even though the store it is located in does remain open (WHSmith), so that makes little sense in my opinion. 3* - Decent Post Office, facilities are minimal due to WHSmith location, but quick service and pretty good for a small town.

Hazel Grove Post Office is located inside Asda, I do find the location to be rather unusual as it…read moreis in the annex of an Asda store, it is close to the tobacco/stationary/book areas, it feels like it's apart of the store when it's actually a separate Post Office which ASDA operate. The opening hours are pretty good, much better than the location in the town centre as the Post Office stays open until 6 pm Monday to Saturday, although it is closed on Sunday's, even though the main ASDA store is open. The queuing system could be better organised as people were queuing from both sides so it was a bit of a mess, this is why I prefer the ticket system which larger crown post offices have, or the self-serve postage machines, the latter is in use at the nearby Post Office in Stockport but not here. The staff didn't seem too friendly, she just seemed to do my return without saying anything to me, I did have to stretch through the gap slightly to get my receipt which she just left, she seemed more eager to serve customers fast rather than make any general conversation or even explaining the process (For example as she randomly left her desk with my parcel) 3* - Still a reliable Post Office location which is the best Post Office in the Stockport area in terms of opening hours, it can be a little messy, and it is hard to find at first, the service could be better but it is OK here. I would return but only on the basis of the opening hours.
