Used golf clubs were beat up and damaged, but they try to price those items at a premium. They price items so high that they never sell until they have so many that they have to store them or cut the prices and only then the items move out the store. I called to complain and left a message, but that was never returned. I will never do business there again.

There was little in terms of practical goods (appliances, kitchen, electronics) heavy bent towards womens items (clothing, purses, bric-a-brac). This may merely reflect what people are donating, but it could also be an inventory collection, processing, or pricing issue.

Located just off Peach Street about 1 1/2 miles from I-90 I found Mel & Tee's easy enough. The front half of the store is mainly a hobby shop, some cool stuff but not what I was looking for. Luckily there is a door to the back of the store which is stuffed with a wide variety of items, collectibles, furniture, home goods and enough to keep you looking for a little while. For me the only item that interested me was a vintage wood stick puppet from Java/Indonesia. The puppet stood out as a very unique and high-quality item, although it did have a bit of damage to one of the hands. The price was about right, but a bit more then I wanted to spend. Luckily I started talking to the very nice lady at the register and she said that they were willing to deal on the item. I made a bid at the lower end of what I thought was fair and she accepted. I ended up getting a great one-of-a-kind item at great price. If you are looking to check out a local thrift store in Erie, Pa. I would suggest giving Mel & Tee's a try, not the biggest place but the fun is finding something you never expected; also really nice when you can negotiate a bit to get what you want.
