I was struggling to find an irrigation company in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. I found this company, with an address in Blaine and an HQ in Eau Claire, WI. I set aside border rivalries and signed up for this Badger State enterprise. Great: Upfront pricing, automated reminders, knowledge of the irrigation system and technology, over the phone troubleshooting, personable tech John S, clean truck Cons: Make sure you select the RainMaster with the capital M. That's who this review is about! Not the other MN company with a similar name... RainMaster's corporate office provided incredible insights, planning, and preparation for me. Their automated reminders were thorough and efficient. John S. was the professional who serviced my system and I was beyond impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, and technical acumen. In the end, I am a happy and informed homeowner with a system that is ready for winter. We bought a new-to-us house and I was panicking about the system integrity. I have had several issues over the years with being overcharged. Most recently, they came out for the "spring turn on" and the work was not satisfactory because a section of the yard was not getting any coverage and drying out. I asked them to come back to fix what wasn't working well after their first visit. I said it was perfectly OK to come out when it was convenient for them - meaning they were already in my neighborhood. It took a couple of weeks to get someone out here and they charged $99 for the visit to fix what they didn't do right the first time. read more

Jacob Mitchell was my tech (so I cannot talk about others experiences of course), he came first thing this morn at 7 amish, and was very informative, and understanding since I am a first time homeowner, let alone the first time I have owned a sprinkler system. It simply was a blowout of my system, but I know it is probably rare of other techs, but he went out of his way, and took his time to educate me, and allowed me to follow him everywhere he went to take care of the blowout, and with that, I learned where everything was for my system. Not impressed. Talked to Kevin Buck and signed up for a sprinkler head repair and ongoing lawn repair. Ended up firing them after one time out. My sprinkler head wouldn't pop out of the ground. Rep showed up hours early when I wasn't home, fixed it", and took his payment. I agreed to all this. However, when the tech left the sprinkler head would not go back into the ground. I emailed rainmaster about the issue, and they said they would send the tech out again. I had been told before it was $80 per visit, so I called to see. During the course of my conversation with Andrea I was told that Rainmaster does not test their work before they leave, I didn't know what I was talking about, and that neither one of us are sprinkler technicians. I inquired about how I could trust them with my lawn if they didn't test their work before leaving. Later, another guy "Brian" called and confirmed this to be a fact. In any case, Brian told me that Andrea had told him I wanted to cancel because no one had treated my lawn yet for crabgrass (which was untrue, the issue was my sprinkler head). I figured, if they can't get their facts straight, I probably don't want them in my yard. read more

This is the first review I have submitted for any company. But Rainmaster has earned this rating for both irrigation and lawn care for my new home. The service has been consistently delayed, unresponsive, and poor for two years. I have had to call them numerous times. I've been told by others that they have grown too fast and aren't able to service their customers. One of their supervisors told me that I should hand water sections of my lawn where they hadn't installed sprinkler heads. My lawn is now full of weeds and the promised lime application wasn't ever scheduled. Enough is enough. I've hired a new company today. read more

I usually don't write reviews but I don't want any potential customers to experience what we did. I would highly recommend going through another lawn care service and if you do decide to go with RainMaster do not pay in full to get a potential discount, wait until you receive your services. We paid in full for a sprinkler system and several applications in beginning of May and were told that our system would be installed at the end of May. Due to the amount of rain in May it got moved back a month to the end of June...meanwhile they sprayed the wrong yard and didn't come back to spray our yard until about 2 weeks later. Then at the end of a July they contacted us to put in another application and we still didn't have our sprinkler system installed. We had to contact them and ask them when we were going to get the sprinkler system installed..and it's now already two months late. They stated August 8th but possibly might be later due to rain delays. I was not happy but what topped it off our neighbors who paid at least 2-3 weeks after us got their system installed before us. We contacted RainMaster and they insisted they moved the wrong address to be scheduled and it wasn't on purpose...we were not offered any money back for the hassles and all the delays. They only offered rechecks and startup/offs which we weren't going to need nor want anymore at this time. I have talked to several people this summer (one being a large company) that is very disappointed with RainMaster and their services. I would highly discourage anyone from using any RainMaster services.Their customer service was very poor and their communication is terrible. read more
