Gate of India does offer takeaway but I would recommend sitting in if it's not too busy because the service they give you certainly makes it worth staying in. The food on offer at Gate of India is very tasty if a little unspectacular. However, I'm of the opinion that even an average Indian dish is still a very good meal so don't think that the lack of originality in any way harms the quality of the food. As usual, they cater for everyone's tastes, offering everything from mild kormas to that'll-hurt-my-arse-in-the-morning vindaloos, which can all be washed down with the usual selection of lagers and other alcoholic beverages.

We decided to visit this restaurant and we were very pleased with our visit. The ambience was pleasant, the staff were helpful & polite, it is a fully licensed restaurant so there wasn't any problem with our drinks. Once the Manager (owner??) found out how much I liked Indian / Bangladeshi food, and that I liked the curries to be 'genuine' curries, not produced for a European palate, he made sure that the food had the taste of Bangladesh. Each dish was just right - my wife's and our friend's dishes were less spicy, but just as tasty. It is a shame that only infrequent visits to Liverpool will allow us to try this restaurant more often.

For mains I asked for something with a madras level heat and what he would recommend. I had something that wasn't on the menu but was a local curry to one of the chefs origins. This was amazing an explosion of flavour with the right amount of heat. The other half's meal was equally as tasty. Sides were just as good. Far too much for us to finish. Just an "extra"; There is a plaque on the outer wall stating that Oliver Cromwell "stayed near here" when planning a lot of his campaigns during the civil war. The food is fantastic, it is prepared in charcoaled tandoori ovens and this is where The Spice Lounge really edges ahead of its rivals. They claim to be authentic and they are just that, they provide real food which tasted as though all the care in the world has gone into it. The prices are a little steep but the quality matches up so check it out as The Spice Lounge truly is the REAL deal.

Secondly I very much enjoyed the dish I picked, a sweet prawn dhansak with delicately flavoured rice, which was a world away from the claggy, creamy versions I had eaten on Manchester's Curry Mile. The price of some meals can be a bit expensive but are still fairly competitive for the area, and the staff are always on hand with a helping hand and friendly disposition. The restaurant is fairly spacious and bright, offering a lovely dining atmosphere in which to enjoy your meal. Saffron also has a range of special offers, including an early bird special between 5pm and 7pm, a lunch-time special between 12pm and 3pm, and a Sunday afternoon buffet; all of which represent excellent value for money.

Sahib is arguably Lymm's premier Indian restaurant just ahead of Bahji's, as it consistently provides great quality food at very reasonable prices (approx £15 pp). However, the difference in quality between the two competing establishments is seen in their restaurant facilities: Bahji's has none. Having eaten there many times I can vouch for the reliability of Sahib's kitchen. Whether I was taking someone on a date or bringing the family I'd be comfortable in the knowledge that Sahib will always do the business food-wise. The only issue I've experienced is the poor quality wine but if you stick to beer you'll be fine. With excellent service and a tasteful interior Sahib is easily recommendable.
