Excellent Trusted Care I moved to the Dr. Janardhanan's practice at Banner 18 months ago. The previous provider as for lack of another term 'a total mess, involving unfounded cookie-cutter treatment extremes'. I arrived with hope for a better experience and I found just that. His demeanor and expertise were comforting and I felt I finally found the care I expected. Dr. J is attentive and an active listener. He asked questions about my life that were not just clinical in nature. He proposed the next steps plan and I agree with it. Count yourself lucky if you have Dr J as your cardiologist. I'm still pinching myself! A previous Dr wrote me perscriptions after a 5 minute appointment. Dr J was whole different story. He has some God given skills ( ability to describe complex systems and reasoning into truly absorbable and valuable info and human concern with joy) yet is extremely studied with ability to consider your own personal situation instead of just a follow the flowchart type of experience. Dr "J" as he's referred to is a breathe of fresh air. He listens and processes as he lets you explain what's wrong. He doesn't make you feel rushed. Then, he evaluates. He is not satisfied or confident with the results & tests done by others, so he does his own. He does most of his tests himself, and personally reads and evaluates the tests done by the people he's trained so he can develop a road map that he has constructed. He doesn't jump to conclusions. Dr. Janardhanan was not my original cardiologist. He was asked to look at my "anomalous" echo results one day. I immediately knew how passionate he is about his field and helping people. I just want to start this off by saying I'm a handful, medically speaking. I have a lot of conditions that combined cause serious symptoms. I tend to fit the "rarity box" and have trouble finding docs who will listen completely and take their time understanding me, my situation and how to approach it. I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Janardhanan. I have recently had my first appointment with him and already he's discovered a PFO and has me scheduled to come in for further testing asap. He even personally checks in with me on his own time to update me. His scheduling is really backed up for testing but he's amongst the best at what he does and I am honored to be working with him and his team to hopefully get to the bottom of my symptoms. Cordial, caring, and comprehensive are three words that best describe my judgment of Dr. Raj Janardhanan (Dr. J). I am a relatively new patient (four months) but I am an experienced user of medical services, particularly cardiologists, because of my cardiovascular conditions. My first encounter with Dr. J provides some insight into my confidence in him and his approach. He had already digested the records from my previous cardiologist and those provided by the Cleveland Clinic. He knew my background so he focused on my current concerns which eventually led to his specific recommendations and plan of action. Noteworthy in this first meeting was his emphasis on my assessment of him and his methods. He specifically reminded me several times that I was the decision maker and completely empowered to make the choices of a cardiologist and selected treatments. The amount of time invested by his questioning provided confidence that he wanted me to make the best decisions for myself, a sure sign that he cared about me and my health. After this comprehensive discussion, he described a plan which included what he called "his way" so that there wouldn't be any confusion about the course of action. "His way" was really a roadmap so that he completely understood the condition of my heart with a series of tests. This would provide him with a "baseline", along with his analysis of the historical records, to move forward with any future treatments. He emphasized and described his philosophy of a conservative approach to treating the heart blended with a straight forward discussion of "what you need" rather than a complicated assessment that would not be understood. For each intended procedure I was provided with specific instructions, including written reminders via the patient electronic portal. Likewise the results were documented for my review. Importantly, after each procedure Dr. J took the time to explain the results to either myself or my husband to ensure we were aware of the situation. Lastly, he understood my appreciation for the services provided by the Cleveland Clinic and my desire to retain and coordinate my future treatments with that Organization. To me, this was an expression of his personal confidence in himself.
