We stumbled upon Brednia and were not disappointed with our decision to give up the wacky continental offerings at the not so grand hotel in leu of a hearty meal at Brednia. Our "set" breakfasts came with lots of yummy stuff, eggs, sausages, cheese, veggies , mine had tasty onion marmalade and my wife's had a a nice horseradish beet side. A glass each of fresh Orange Juice and a cappuccino for myself and tea for my wife and we were ready to go in search of the amazing street art found in Lodz! We had to walk by Soplicowo to get to the Italian place and the smells coming from the kitchen wouldn't allow us to go any further so we gave up on Italian and opted for Polish. The place was busy but we were seated right away at a nice cozy table for two. We started our Soplicowo experience with a couple of shot of cherry vodka, served in icy glasses as it should be. I ordered a bowl of beetroot soup which was very tasty, the star of the soup were the dumplings, they were filled with wonderfully seasoned meat and were amazing! My wife's goat cheese salad was fresh and had a good amount of cheese with a nice dressing. With our first course we were offered a complimentary plate with bread and some kind of lard spread, I'm not sure what it is called but it had a great smokey flavor and bits of meat that may have been pork, with this came pickles and some kind of seasoned sour cream spread. A bottle of red wine was ordered to accompany our mains, I had the wild boar, very nice flavors not at all gamey, perfectly cooked in a nice rich sauce. My wife had the mushroom stuffed chicken which was cooked to a wonderful crisp on the outside but remained moist and yummy inside and filled with mushrooms with dumplings of some kind on the side. We also had a plate of the ruskie dumplings, we were stuffed at this point but managed to finish these wonderful little pockets of yumminess! After such a delicious meal we couldn't say no to desert so we split an order of apple pie with vanilla sauce, an exceptional desert to finish an exceptional dining experience! The service was great, ambience was great and the food was amazing, if we ever make it back to Lodz this will be the first place we dine!
