Earlier this evening I was at Ralph's on E Valley Pkwy picking a few things up. I was having difficulty finding poppyseeds that my girlfriend needed for some lemon poppyseed muffins. I wasn't expecting rudeness from who I think was the manager named Kenneth. I asked Kenneth if he could help me find some poppyseeds. He looked at me and then went back to what he was doing. I asked once more. No response from Kenneth. I then asked if he was ignoring me. He then looked at me and said, "yes, I'm ignoring you." I was dumbfounded. I mentioned leaving a review about his performance, or lack of. He then became real apologetic saying he was kidding and tried to shake my hand. I refused his gestures and told Kenneth the review was still happening, and that something was wrong with him. I've been going to Ralphs off and on for 15+ years. But, since COVID there has been a decline of exterior and interior of Ralphs. So many unhoused people walking out with handfuls of items. I've experienced, more than once, having to move out of the way because a loser was running out with merchandise. The staff can't place themselves in Harms way to chase them. No telling what someone high or desperate would do to them. Walking into Ralphs, it's so crowded with displays everywhere you turn. No wonder it's easy for people to steal. However, layout and design may make it more difficult! And The parking lot has turned into a safe haven for unhoused people living out of their cars, in the bushes and campers. It's a parking lot i longer feel safe going into. And actually it's the entire center contributes to this problem. Management doesn't appear take pride in their store appearance or the safety of their customers both inside and out. Maybe their hands are tied? If a district manager doesn't make changes - their store manager can't either. Being the largest occupant in this center- I wonder if they have complained to the property owners? Maybe the owner of the entire center can reevaluate safety, post signs, tow vehicles, hire security, etc. and do some spring cleaning. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. The workers are so nice but my safety walking in and out is much more important. read more

Well Happen to be in Escondido and I decided to stop in to this Ralphs Grocery Store . It was not to busy when I was here . They carry all sorts of Groceries and it is compared to Vons Grocery store . I came here to pickup some Powerade Drinks and the prices were decent here . They were one dollar each bottle which is not bad . Also I walk around to store and it was pretty slow . They got a good selection of drinks here and if you're looking for Sodas that other Grocery stores might not have . It has a meat department , Bakery , Deli and Service Deli . Some Ralphs even Have Hot Wheels also . It's your typical Grocery store and Service was so so could not find anyone to help me locate where the Drinks were . But I found it myself . Overall If I happen to be in Escondido again hopefully the Service will be better . But got what I needed and I shall return again !! read more

Since there is not a customer service desk or office, the employees become a valuable source for information. Kudos to Marcos, who handles a multitude of tasks so very competently; and thanks to Andrew, who facilitated an easy check out; and Drew who solved a pricing issue. I just want to say I love Ralph's Store and the people that work there. Very professional and always willing to help the customers. I have been going to Ralph's for a long time, and this is my preferred store. I can say that Christina Nguyen, the manager, is so nice to everyone. Christina, I just want to say keep up the good work. Christina Nguyen was working at Ralph's on Carmel Mountain Rd. That's where I met Christina. Now they transferred her to the Ralph's in Escondido, and I got to see her here at the Escondido store. She's one of the greatest managers any store can have. Always on her toes helping people like me with any question or concern. The store is very well managed under her. Very clean, and all the staff and cashiers are nice and polite to all the customers. I generally do my shopping at a variety of grocery stores, Ralphs, Vons, Walmart, Barons, Trader Joe's , Whole Foods and Sprouts. Each of them has something to offer, but Ralphs in Rancho Bernardo and 4-s Ranch are the best all around choices for our needs. The produce is top quality and the inventory is always stocked well. The staff at 4-s are particularly helpful but then so are the staff at Vons, though prices seem to be higher there. None of the stores have excellent deli counter workers. Orderes a cake, from the bakery. 3 days prior to picking it up. Had to explain 3 times what I wanted to the girl. However, I go to pick it up, and the decorator needs a class in design. She had white lettering on white icing? Really. 20th Anniversary cake, I wanted silver sprinkles and some nice lettering. Well not what I got at all. Long story has to redo it, I was on a time constraint and it bummed my day. She fixed it I guess as best as she could. I was so upset. Worst experience ever for my artist client who is a "rapper" Felt embarrassed being accused of stealing when looking for bag of chips. Short asian worker came disrespecting my client saying he been caught stealing a couple days ago when my client lives no where near Escondido and is visiting from Fresno, California. I wish nothing bad on anyone but I'm absolutely revolted in this matter my client showed calmness to try to reason and prove he wasn't the one they are talking about. Quo-tingly he stated to her saying " I'm not from here ma'am" and said later on " I won't be buying from your store for accusing me of stealing" after she had said "if your gonna buy something then buy it" in a rude demeanor. Accessibility: accessible/disabled parking right in front of the building with ramps to get up to the sidewalk. There are two motorized shopping carts as well as regular carts and baskets to carry. Isles are wider here than Albertons and places. Well lit, usually pretty clean, big bathrooms. Experience: I love Ralph's because it's cheaper than most grocery stores. The employees here are nice and it's usually a good experience. When we have time changes though, the biggest issue I have with this store is that they don't adjust their parking lot lights to turn on sooner with the sun setting earlier, so the parking lot can be very dark with lots of homeless people and sketchy drug addicts hanging around. Outside the store is always dark and dirty, some lights are out. Feels unsafe at times. There are always homeless all over the property leaving dangerous trash, and I seen human fecal matter. I also seen rats all over the property and piles of trash under water dispenser outside. Inside is very crowded with lots of repetitive products, there are displays of the repetitive items in the center of the aisle making look stuff but they are actually the same items making the aisle narrower and disorganized: Today there was a broken sprinkler making a "River" of water in the parking lot. We may have to gather signatures or something to ask for a clean, safe shopping center. read more

This store is a bit smaller than other locations that I frequent but make no mistake... they have excellent service and all sorts of items in stock. The parking lot is easy to get in and out of and is well lit at night. Produce and meat always look and do taste fresh. I'll be back again when in the area. read more

I've been shopping here since the beginning of the pandemic and I'm taking advantage of the store pick-up option. The employees here are usually always very friendly and helpful! However, my orders have been incorrect to some extent every time. I would recommend checking your bags against your paid order. The customer service representatives are always very helpful to sort that out for me. read more

After navigating through the phone coupon app to clip coupons, and providing my Ralph's card to the cashier, I proceeded to checkout. I was expecting to pay roughly $35, but when the cashier rang up 50 bucks, I asked if she applied all the discounts, and she said yes. I decided to examine my receipt before leaving the store. It appeared that I was overcharged for soda (12 packs). As I was speaking to the person at the service desk about the issue, the cashier "Kris" approached me asking what's wrong. I told her I was overcharged for the sodas. When she said it was correct, I told her to go look at the display sign. She immediately said "calm down". I replied "Calm down? I only said, calmly, to go look at the sign." I followed her to the sign to see that it actually applied to a different product (fine print) than what was behind it on a larger display. I informed her that the arrangement was deceptive. [The next day I went to a competitor's store to shop for groceries, and wouldn't you know, they had an almost identical display. The difference being they were honest in how they displayed the price. (see photo)] When we returned to the register, she told me that I earlier "got in her face." I corrected her saying I was just standing there (behind and with both hands on the shopping cart) when she walked up to me! So yeah, pretty sure to get in someone's face you actually have to be moving? Not to mention, a review of the store surveillance video will clearly show who walked up to who; and there were at least a dozen shoppers in this crowded store that witnessed everything. At that point, I told her that I just wanted a full refund (because of her attitude). When I said she was rude, she said that I had a bad attitude and that hers was "great". I told her she was wrong and that I wanted to speak to the manager. She transferred the issue to the next cashier which was the store manager. I did not get the manager's name, but she politely honored my request for a refund. Had I dealt only with her, I most likely would have walked out of the store with everything except the sodas, and maybe even an apology for the deceptive advertisement. Jumping through the hoops deciphering all the display signs and figuring out which product they apply to, sifting through the cluttered app hoping you clipped the correct coupon, just to try to find out what you will actually end up paying seems to be more effort than it's worth. I have shopped at this store countless times through the years, and they often have this display in the same location. Needless to say, I regularly check the price. After working a grueling four hour Girl Scout cookie shift with my daughters outside, I was able come inside and shop. I usually shop at discount and outlet grocers but from time to time I do shop at expensive places like this. Actually, the prices weren't as bad as I thought they would be. They even had some good deals even without a Ralphs card. Another bonus was their self checkout stations which made paying for my items fast and easy. Much faster than Vons which always has very long lines and few cashiers.. Ralphs also has some interesting food options (like prime rib and horseradish potato chips). One bummer was the lack of choices for salsa, this is Escondido after all. The store is clean , ambiance is mid .. depending on time of the day. The customer service in this store really depends on who you encounter. The younger workers seem very vibrant and willing to answer any questions. However .... The times I've went I've had to deal with Patty and it's not the best experience at all. She communicates like she's doing you a favor by allowing you into the store. Every question is a hassle to answer and when she does answer a question she will pepper her own borderline racist hot takes into the answer regardless of if there are kids present ( Yes she's done this 2x while my wife and kids were present ) read more

The manager Paul, The one "who loves Pizza" and has no hair- I just witnessed him getting nasty with one of his employees in front of two customers. The lines were backed up and only one checker was open. She (patty that is) proceeded to put a couple customers at another line due to a he lengthy line at one checker. He comes back and says (a few lines down) "did you just open my lineup!? I wasn't gonna open it back up! " while all the customers turn to watch. Patty proceeded, in a kind tone, state she was just trying to help since there were a lot of customers and was unaware he wasn't opening back up. She was hustling trying to get the lines moving, AS SHE SHOULD. for the next few minutes, I hear Paul (at the next line over) making snarky comments and complaining to the customers about Patty. Stating "do not do that again party!" And lists all that he has to do and how he "does everything" TO CUSTOMERS lol. That is unprofessional and uncalled for; to talk poorly about his employees to customers and on top of that, make the customers feel like a burden? They're spending money at this store. And all this was said when she walked off to assist more customers. Paul needs a cup of coffee and needs to get off his high horse. read more

I figured I'd update since it's been a few years. I raised one star because of the folks that work here. Mostly everyone is pretty nice and friendly and after shopping a few years here it's nice to see familiar faces. Over the last few years the dairy section put in doors and stuff doesn't go bad early like before, but I still see expired products every now and then. The organic produce is still good but still no loose organic onions and potatoes. Bummer. The plant protein meat section is also good but they stopped ordering certain things that were part of my weekly menus. They still sell them at the San Marcos Ralph's but not here. Naughty. It's still the last store at the end of the road, as Valley Center has yet to open a major market. It will never ever ever be the Ralph's in San Marcos or La Jolla but all in all it will do. read more

Thebfood at Ralph is great and always freah but i have to say i did havetwo bad experience by the cashier... so my frist one is when i had my 12 year old with me i was letting her take charge and scane the ideams but when she asked me how to spell the word corn well i guess made the cashier saybhow old is she why cant she spell the word Corn... well frist its not her business and she should have been very rude... ive never mention that my daughter is disléxic.. The school and her doctors nave already made this decision with her many IEPs but i didnt deel imbaresst i let the rude cashier talk nonsense and left.... another day today I went alone to Ralph and because i sweet alot each time im scaneing my ideas the cashier though i was trying to steel butter... when i wasnt i shouldnt have to give a reason but glade she proved herself wrong when she saw that i had already scanned it myself.... my doctor know why i sweat alot and sometimes when im so stressed i start vomiting. Ralphs is one of the few markets (along with Food 4 Less, same company) to markdown almost every category of food including produce, fresh juices, and refrigerated salad dressings. Also lots of wine markdowns. The only market to match it is Fresh & Easy. They have some great sales on produce, and things like cottage cheese and frozen food. I find myself buying the same items repeatedly, because I can get them cheaper than at other places. They seem to be doing some remodeling, at least tearing up the floors for now. I'm interested to see what changes they make. They also have 2 Redboxes inside, a good place to run in fast if you're trying to beat the 9 deadline! read more

Pros: The store employees are generally helpful and work quickly to get you out of the door. Cons: Maybe 1-2 lines are open with checkers. Heavily focused on self checkout, which takes forever if you have a full cart. Maybe one bagger. I often bag my own groceries, which means a slower line, a cart and bags that are not packed well. It's frustrating to remember the way it used to be. I think I'll start shopping around for a new store with a quicker and more helpful check out. I kept hoping it would go back to the way it was. read more

I am trying to use the "Live chat" and spent 15 minutes chatting with a robot waiting for the "Agent" and when the "agent" finally responded he cancelled the chat. Then I called the phone number for help and it said I should use the chat. I did not go back to chat but am now on my 17th minute waiting for a rep. They just don't want to hear about problems.
