I never write reviews but i had to write about this place. I had a great experience at Ralph's Transmission, the employees were super friendly & caring, they made sure I was comfortable. They broke down the whole transmission build with me & gave me a great estimate. Erica kept me update to date with my build & sent me pictures on how bad my transmission was. If anything else needed to be done she gave me a call first before proceeding. They also recommended me to other shops around Modesto because I had mentioned I needed more stuff done to my truck. I would highly recommend coming to Ralph's, but fair warning if you're looking for cheap and easy they won't do that. This is the way a business should be run. Transmission developed a problem with lockup after another related issue. Technicians identified both problems. First, service transmission and found excessive metal shavings so rebuild was recommended. Erica went over everything with me and my options, very upfront and transparent. We choose to go ahead with repairs, before I left the shop the transmission was already out and on the bench. I needed the vehicle the next week and was concerned it would not be ready, not at Ralph's they had the transmission finished and installed the next day. They also picked up an UBER for me to take me home. The related problem with the ABS was diagnosed and problem communicated the next day repaired then vehicle tested. Transmission completely rebuilt and secondary issue repaired in 3 days, back on the road shifting better than it ever has, incredible. What is more incredible this is not the exception but the rule at Ralph's, this is the way they do business day in and day out. I have done most of my own maintenance and repairs all of my life, transmissions the exception as I know my limits, so the first thing I look at is the shop and crew. Owner Mario asked if I wanted the tour, showed me how they run the shop and the professionals they hire. Shop was immaculate and staff highly specialized and trained, a model of efficiency. Owners Mario and Maria have created the model for what auto repair should be, I've never seen better and I am very critical. The icing on the top is that this is a family run business with the values, ethics and professionalism that is seldom seen in today's businesses. The staff that provided me customer service are kind, and sincere, they really make you feel like you matter. I could not ask for anything better. Customer service at its best! After reading a few reviews on Yelp, and talking to a few friends, the positive reviews were accurate. I called to set-up an appointment to have my 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax diesel with 182,900 miles checked out. The young lady I. The phone was very professional and informative. The day I dropped it off spoke with Yvette, who gave me a complete rundown of the process and even offered to call an Uber or Lyft fir my return home. I left feeling that I had made the right choice for service on my truck. Later that morning, received a call to let me know that everything was running good. I wanted a more through search to make sure my truck was ready for a long haul. Yvette offered an additional service to drop transmission pan and give a thorough inspection to include replacing filters, gasket and other items needed. The price for parts/labor was very reasonable, so I asked for the service to be done. Later that evening, received the call that truck was ready and everything looked great. 2 years ago when my 2009 Yukon transmission went out and I called for a quote over the phone. This old man who answered the call refuses to give me a quote. He told me to bring in the car for a diagnostic test. I argued that my car is no longer drivable and all I need is just a quote for a transmission replacement. Everything I asked, he referred to bring in the car for the diagnostic test. I just ended the conversation at that point. What I got out of this experience wasn't just unfriendly attitude, but I really felt the customer dissatisfaction vibe in the conversation. I seriously expected a good customer service because their radio ad sounded so friendly. For sure I got fooled by their radio ad. Here's my other dealbreaker reason, every other auto shop I called was willing to give me a quote when I asked for a transmission replacement. It doesn't make sense for Ralph's Transmission to unwillingly giving me a quote when every auto shop gave me a quote in a heartbeat. I called Friday morning and some gal answered asking me a bunch of questions only to be handed over to the owner's wife witch asked me a bunch of the same questions, they seem to be very professional but after reading all the reviews I find this place not to be suitable for heavy duty jobs like having them rebuild a full transmission there more for simple small jobs only, then if they charge more the the dealership that's more of a reason to take or look at some more reasonable in pricing, there's more to saying or claiming to be a professional, it's about performing and using it's highest quality of oem parts and integrity workmanship and guaranteed it to is fullest, no just word of mouth but in writing with action's backing it up, I am very glad I didn't use them, its reviews like this that help the world turn to its best, thank you Yelp for allowing good honest people to write these helpful reviews about there's experiences to help improve places like these in there equality. read more

Will the day was coming when my transmission was going out. I notice a small shift in the tranny for almost 1 year. Well the final day I was able to drive from the central valley to the Bay and notice my engine was working hard. RPM were running over 4K at 50 miles per hour not a good sign and I was smelling a little bit of transmission fluid. I was able pull off the freeway into a safe location . At this moment what can I say (DAM!!) So I went ahead and google transmission shop back in the valley and click Ralphs. Mario was the first person I spoke with and notice he took his time to listen to my problems. There were a few option and maybe a chance they can rebuild it but I knew for sure I push my limits. Now most shop would look into their calendar and maybe pencil me in 1 week or 2 weeks out just to see it. And if it was a dealership they would say bring it in but will cost you $200-$300 just for us to say you need a transmission and do nothing. Guess what Not Ralph Transmission! Mario return my call within 20 min given good and bad news of what may happen before seeing my van. OK, this guy is up front with me I have nothing to lose. During that day I called my AAA insurance to have my van tow and during that time I stayed in contact with Erica. This Month was not my Month and at the same time I had another SUV at another shop, yes my timing was bad. So Erica was able to provide application for credit which really help.... So about 440-5pm I arrived with a tow truck. Filled out the papers and went my way. Next day Erica keep me inform about everything. Around 4pm Erica announced my van is ready for pickup ! Wow 1 day ??? Well have to say my van runs great! The whole time I arrive until my last day I have nothing negative to say. Ladies are awesome the crew in the shop are hard at work!! Above and beyond the call of duty they went! My RV broke down on a Saturday when they were closed. I called and got Mario. He sent a tow truck free of charge. Because they wouldn't open till Monday he hooked me up with electricity at his shop and I had AC and TV till they opened. Then they did an outstanding and super fast job of diagnosing and rebuilding my transmission. I've never had better service or more confidence in the work that was done. It's running great! In 2016 I had my Transmission repairs at Ralph's. The first of this week my reverse went out and I couldn't drive forward faster than 40. My warranty was expired yet Mario said bring it in and they'll fix it! I picked up my truck this afternoon and it runs great! At no charge!! Had to have my tranny rebuilt, and after reading up on the reviews here, I set up an inspection with them. They had my car towed from my home, and once from my boyfriend's work completely free. Krista and Yvette were awesome throughout the entire journey! It took about a week for the shop to complete everything, and a lot of it was my pain-in-the-ass warranty company. Mario was great with everything and explained everything to me perfectly. Unfortunately I commute, and was unable to go to the shop myself, however they all did a WONDERFUL job accommodating me and allowing my boyfriend to do everything in my place. I love their 3yr/100k warranty they offer on their work, really gives me peace of mind. I definitely recommend this shop to anyone with tranny issues! They display all over the highways and internet that the warrant is guaranteed but when it comes down to it they don't hold up to their word. The very first time coming here they guaranteed the transmission would hold up as a heavy duty transmission we got the truck back and as we were headed down I-5 a month or two later the transmission is shot, they took back the truck and basically said he had to baby it he wasn't able to do anything with it that's not what the original agreement was the transmission was supposed to be built heavy duty and clearly if you can't even go less than 20 miles from home and the transmission is throwing codes it wasn't built properly, so they "fixed it" and here we go getting ready to leave town in the truck again and nope transmission is hot and throwing codes again the fluid was completely black, we were stuck on the side of the road for an hour and 45 minutes waiting for a tow truck, about 1000 miles on a transmission that cost about 5k takes a crap for the third time read more

Highly recommend! Exceptional Owner!! I took my truck for repair, they charged me $800 and they said everything would be ok. I came back the next day with the same problem + my transmission was leaking oil. So they checked my transmission again and they told me it needed a full repair now and they were trying to charge me $3,200 total for it. So I went home with $800 less in my pocket, my truck with the same problem and my tail betweeen my legs. Update: When the owner Mario became aware of my experience at his shop, he immediately got in contact with me and asked me to return. He was unhappy that I was unsatisfied, he immediately offered to correct the situation. I have to mention I didn't even complain, he did this all on his own as soon as this came to his attention. You can absolutely see this man is all about taking care of his customers and making things right. He offered to rebuild my transmission at absolutely no extra cost to me. I did not expect to hear that. It is great to know that there is still honest businesses out there with owners that truly treat the customer as a priority. Took my truck less than year ago and have had nothing but problems with the transmission. I asked for it to be built heavy duty the first time and maybe 1500-2000 miles later overheated on the freeway. Took it back and they covered the warranty but said they wont if i drive it hard. We had a problem with one of our Ranch pickups about 3 and half years ago. Great job and Service. The pickup started a leak in the transmission and tried but not find it. I called up in the morning and they told me to bring it in. AAA here we go to Modesto. in no time at all, they had it up on a rack and called to tell me what they found. Had to leave the truck there for a couple of days. Lol, thank god we have others up here. They called on a Friday Morning said it was ready, so off to Modesto.
