Really miss the Ala moana location but its nice to know it is still a accessible resturant to get your ramen fix. Located in the Stix food hall in waikiki, they have shoyu ramen, tonkotsu ramen and tsukemen. Each type of ramen has different variations in my case I got the spicy egg tonkotsu which has with thin noodles, I changed the spice level to its highest that it can have which is fire. There are higher spice levels but not available for this variation . Service was very attentive and the ambiance is very lax and with table, booth and counter seating. You can add more garlic and spices to your liking which I really appreciate. The taste was wonderful. If you like a very rich ramen then this is the place for you. Both was really good, hearty and filling. What really stood out is how tender and flavorful the char Sui. I would come back just for that. This place is quite good - legit Japanese workers and a good variety of options. We don't get Tsukemen often, so we thought that 4 of 5 of us would get one, of varying levels of spiciness. I've been here a couple times already and so far it remains my favorite part of Stix. Now that's not to say that the gap is large between my top 5 let alone the whole offering cause it's not but the diversity yet simplicity of the menu makes this place a go to for me when I'm in waiks looking for ramen. They only do two things but they do it right and with enough of a diverse offering of the two that the variation never gets old. They do great Ramen and Tsukemen with like 20 odd varieties including both versions offered in a spicy option that does what it says it does without much fluff. I love their latin leaning options that include cilantro, at one point birria and other latin dishes. The Tsukemen for me is always my go to for a variety of reasons but the portions just work better when it's deconstructed here. It's a tight fit so bring a small group and be kind to the waitress cause one girl covers both sides of the restaurant but outside that and semi reasonable prices its a hit and will always e in my waiks rotation!!! read more

This used to be my favorite ramen in the US when I first visited in August 2024; however, I feel like their broth has changed and it's no longer the #1 anymore. I remember the first time I came here and had the Bario signature ramen, I was blown away and actually everyone is our party agreed that it's the best ramen ever. Rich to a fault. Something about the taste profile is not my jam. Ramen noodles were delectably chewy though. I am actually a really big fan of the texture of these ramen noodles: the slight chewy but not too firm noodles that you rarely find at ramen places. Not overcooked or undercooked, and a joy to slurp and munch. What I'll say is that this restaurant prides itself on its special pork smoking and cooking methods, with secret sauces to really bring out the depths of flavor. They carve out beautiful pieces of chashu after the meticulous cooking process, and I ... am not a fan. My fault, honestly - something about the taste profile of the pork is different enough from other chashu I've had where I can tell that it's cooked super well (tender, chewy, fatty, rich), but I'm left with a weird taste in my mouth that makes me question how much I enjoyed it. Apparently, this is the only Ramen Bario location outside of Japan, which is kind of wild. I felt strangely honored just sitting there, like I accidentally stumbled into something exclusive. I went for the Bario Spicy Ramen ($19.98), and it delivered -- especially if you're a garlic enthusiast. There were legit garlic chunks floating on top (a few even burnt in the bottom for dramatic effect), and the whole bowl was a savory, spicy punch in the face -- in a good way, as my girlfriend likes to say. Just had to come back and post another 5 star review. Was with the fam for the free day at the aquarium Saturday and we got done around lunch time. Trying to decide on a place to eat and my sis recommended this place because they've heard me talk about it so much. So we drive over and they had room for the 6 of us. We order various ramen, got some gyoza and karaage. Food came out pretty quickly and as always it's just delicious! Everyone in my family loved it. Dad just kept raving about how the broth was so flavorful and he really liked the noodles. Everyone also enjoyed the gyoza but most didn't care for the karaage. They said it was too ginger forward and the chicken was a weird texture. They do offer a local discount of 15% but unbeknownst to us they charge a 15% fee for a large group. We were 5 adults and a 5 year old which I don't consider a large group...... Food was delicious and they now all understood why we love that place. I wanted to love this place as it has a pretty cool concept and interesting take on ramen but it was pretty average. It is located in Stix, a basement floor Asian food hall. I eat a lot of ramen so I am pretty picky, and the ramen was decent, not amazing. I ordered off the barrio ramen side of the menu and chose the spicy egg barrio ramen. It came with the signature barrio broth, noodles, bean sprouts, pork, a ramen egg and spicy paste. I will say it was an interesting ramen, a combination of bright red mixed with traditional broth and a lot of extra little bits of seasonings. The noodles were thicker than a traditional noodle and had a good chew but ate more like a linguini pasta noodle. Mine was also loaded with bean sprouts so that muddled the taste a bit. The pork in the dish was very inconsistent with some pieces being soft and tender and others overcooked and rubbery. The egg was nicely cooked and had great flavor but was placed in the ramen whole and not cut open faced which I would have preferred. Full disclosure I did show up 45 minutes before they were supposed to close and they let me know that, so I did feel a little bit rushed but not overly rushed. I got the ramen and a beer for around $40 and in my opinion it is a little pricey for what you get. read more

Like another reviewer stated, Tsujita in LA is definitely my favorite came in outside of Japan. However, this place comes quite close. I ordered the egg tsukemen with spicy on the side. I like adding spice to my liking rather than hoping that mild is mild enough for me. I also ordered the noodles, hot, so that the broth stays warm longer. The broth isn't quite thick enough to stick to the noodles, like it is in Japan. However, it's still very tasty and I would definitely come back here when I visit Oahu again. Downside: Parking is NOT validated despite the parking attendant's assertion. It's only validated Monday through Friday after 5 PM. Parking in this plaza is three dollars per half an hour. Luckily there was no one waiting in line and I was sat right away, but I still paid six dollars for parking. That made my meal $34 with tip. It's a bit pricey for Ramen so I'll probably come again when parking is free or I might just wait to eat tsukemen in LA. Service fee: 5%. They also don't tell you about the service fee and don't show you the pre-tax check unless you ask to see it. I'm so glad I was able to fit this restaurant into my trip--it was truly a highlight! This was one of the best bowls of ramen I've ever had. Impressively, there are only two locations outside of Japan, and both are in Hawaii: this one and another at the Ala Moana food court. The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful, with clear signs that it was made from real bone stock (you could see the collagen/fatty deposits). The food comes fast as they're organized with their prep work. Visually the ramen is very pleasing to the eyes and you just can't wait to eat and drink the soup. We ordered the tonkatsu egg ramen, tonkatsu corn ramen, and tonkatsu nori seaweed ramen. Ramen is on par...not soggy at all and just right. The broth is what did it for us!
