I should have read other reviews about the service being slow. Ordered delivery today at 7:15PM. Expected delivery at the latest 8:20PM, no alert that my delivery was late. Call support at 8:30 who tells me my order is on time at 9:17PM. Over an hour late, without specifying that the order is not even ready let alone left the restaurant. This after heavy questioning. Grubhub rep was a sad excuse for customer service. I asked to be refunded of the tip at a minimum since my order was more than an hour late and I also got inconvenienced with calling to check since the app does not reflect the time of delivery. Rep is in disbelief like this is routine. Still waiting on my order. I'm hoping the food will redeem this restaurant and Grubhub as a whole, this is the second order I place with this restaurant that I have to wait for a ridiculous amount of time or end up cancelling. Edit: I would like to add in response to the owner's comment that I disagree since the issue is with the business being able to manage expectation on food preparation times and communicate that to Grubhub. Nonetheless, I am inclined to change my mind if the food is good, but I doubt it'd be possibly worth 2 hours wait. read more

The only reason why I am giving this restaurant two stars is because of the tuna poké appetizer. Let's just say that the tuna poké was AMAZING. I received my ramen and it had very tiny thin noodles. I am not very fond of those noodles but it didn't say anywhere on the menu that those come with the ramen I ordered. When I asked the waiter if I can change the type of noodles explaining that I do not like the style I was given he told me that for $4 he can bring me the thicker noodles on the side. Um..... I explained to him that I didn't see that the noddles that came with my dish were very thin noodles that I do not like. But he kept insisting that I pay more for the noodles and that he would bring them on the side. I finally got irritated and told him to take my ramen back and that I will choose another dish from the menu. I think I got the Tuna Don. I'm not 100% what it was. The ramen was below average - we had the All Star and the Spicy Miso. The spicy miso has a very thick yellow noodle and although it was good, it wasn't good good. Lacked the spicy enticing flavor that makes you want to keep eating. Instead, I got tired of eating it and it started to taste sort of bland as well. Service is extremely slow. People who come in after us got food before us. We were not the only ones complaining about the delay on the food; many others around us were upset with the service speed. It took us 45 mins to get our appetizer and even longer for our ramen. A casual ramen place like this one needs to be faster or they should not exist. I will never come back here again. We had to ask several times about our order with no apology. Update: they gave us pickled sides on the house and apologized, so I added a star. Stopped by on a cold winter day with a craving for something soup-y. Setagaya has very friendly staff and some of the best tantan men I've had in a New York. It had the creamiest soup base and the perfect chewy texture in the thin noodles! Horrible customer service. We ordered the fried chicken buns (more like soggy undercooked chicken) and beef rice with no sauce. Not like the pictures at all. The pork in the ramen was full of fat and creepy. Please refer to the photo of the Sukiyaki rice dish on their website vs reality and it speaks for itself. Dry to the bone. We tried to get our $$ back and the manager said that "he sees the food go out and there's nothing wrong." Bad way to run a business. I didn't really like their style ramen here. The broth was very heavy - not rich but just thick. Thick noodles were relatively chewy, egg was good but chashu was extremely thinly sliced. Was hoping to try their tsukemen but sadly neither broth option appealed to me. One was curry and one had shrimp which are very distinctive flavors. I came here on my very fun Saturday for dinner. I was so hungry and wanted to eat an elephant if I could. Thankfully the waiting period was less than 5 minutes. This place is right opposite to my favorite bakery in Williamsburg which is huge plus since I can go there for dessert after. The restaurant is pretty casual and they have large stools to sit on which is fine. The waitresses are nice and the place is clean. Now for the food we ordered the pork buns, yuzu sake and I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen. The pork buns were fresh and soooo yummy. Honestly none of my friends wanted appetizer and one of them never had pork buns before but I was super hungry and demanded the buns. In the end we all had to share the buns (my pork buns :/). They all agreed that it was pretty good. My ramen was tasty and I finished the whole bowl and I have never finished an entire portion of any food in America ever in my life. Maybe it was because I was super hungry but the ramen did taste good. I wouldn't eat something if I didn't like even when I'm really hungry. The yuzu sake was tasty too, I love yuzu on any of my drinks and hence the sake tasted exactly like yuzu. Overall the place and food was good. One thing that I was kinda confused was about was the fact that the waitress spilled our drinks accidentally on the table and most of us got wet with yuzu sake which is fine cause mistakes happen and we didn't mind it. But they felt bad so they gave us a complimentary VEGAN salad. That kinda put me off, I mean why give a salad complimentary that too a vegan salad? Its like giving your kids brussels sprouts or broccoli for being good. And a vegan salad for people like us who love meat. I guess Im being greedy, it was nice enough for them to give us something for free. I want to say up front that this review is only for their ramen delivery (ordered through seamless). I ordered the vegan shoyumen ramen. The pros: my food came within an hour as estimated. I liked the way they packaged the ramen -- they filled one container with all the ingredients for the soup and another container with just the broth. The broth filled the mix-ins container perfectly and made for an easy eating situation. As for the ramen itself, it was aight. I ordered the vegan shoyumen and was psyched to see an option with so many vegetables in it. The cons: the ramen left a lot to be desired. The broth itself was meh, but maybe that's just because I ordered the vegan broth. I tried my friend's miso pork broth and it was much tastier. The veggies (zucchini, asparagus, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, etc.) themselves were pretty soggy and greasy and disappointing. They didn't really taste healthy. The most disappointing part of the whole bowl was the noodles. Wow. I legit think they might've been instant ramen noodles. No flavor and nothing special. I gave up pork a while back and classic, rich pork ramen broth might be one of the things I miss the most. Though at one time I would have thought it sacrilegious to go to a ramen joint and look for a non-pork option, I'm now that person. There was only one non-pork noodle dish, the dandanmen, which is actually vegan. Again, it's not something I typically ordered in the past as I'm actually not the biggest fan of peanut sauces, but it was cold out and I felt like a big hot bowl of noodles so I went for it, and found it really tasty! I was surprised at how rich and flavorful it was considering it was a vegan dish, though to be fair I did add a soft boiled egg to it. In fact, the sauce was almost a bit too flavorful/salty, but I much prefer that to not flavorful enough so I was OK with it... just needed a lot of water to balance out the salt! They also offer 'kaedama,' which is an extra serving of noodles. I was way too full to take advantage but any place that understands the importance of noodles is aces to me! I also went for the buns with shrimp tempura, another dish I might have passed on because it didn't sound like a super authentic ramen joint selection, but I'm glad I bucked tradition on that because they were fantastic. Expensive at $8 for two, but the shrimp are huge and every bite is packed with flavor. At the time I went it was still relatively new and they were cash only, which was a bummer. There have been a lot of times where I wanted to pop in for a quick meal but couldn't because I realized I didn't have any cash on me. I see on Yelp now that it does say that they accept credit cards, so maybe they've updated their systems - I hope so! I never realized I could have a meal at a ramen restaurant with no pork and leave feeling as full and happy as I did, so thank you! read more

The other two locations don't have good reviews but I had no issues with this specific location. I got the spicy miso ramen and added 2 additional pieces of pork and it was pretty good. Broth was savory and thick and noodles were wavy and chewy the two taste aspects I crave in my ramen. My boyfriend got the chasyu soup ramen which had a similar broth but thinner noodles. This is our first time coming to Williamsbug and we saw this ramen shop and decided to stop by! So breakdown of the food: Spicy Miso Ramen: boyfriend got this dish and he wasn't too fond of it. He believes it is all about the broth and the broth wasn't really up to par. He is a big ramen guy, always tries it and had it at a lot of ramen shops in Japan as well and would not recommend. Gave it 2 stars! thing to note: the noodles are thicker than usual! Chashu bun: very delicious! Would definitely recommend. I thought it was super tasty! Tofu okonomiyaki: I love okonomiyaki! One of my favorites and I thought this was a delicious twist to this traditional dish. It has a style similar to Hiroshima style if you're into that. Overall would give it 4 stars!! I just walked out of this place and I am furious. Not only was the ramen sub-par, the customer service was atrocious. My girlfriend and I came into this place hopeful, as we had read some good reviews and saw it full of chatty patrons. We were seated and ordered the all-star and spicy miso ramen. After suffering through the Euro House Remix radio station that was playing over the speaker above us, we were served our ramen. The all star had a nice broth with tasty and tender chashu, though the noodles were a bit too chewy for my taste. My gf's spicy miso ramen was quite bland in comparison, with not much miso flavor or spice to speak of. And now here comes the real reason for the 1 star (the food is worth about a 3). After we were finished with our meal we waited about 10 minutes for one of the servers to stop by our table to pickup our credit card, despite there being 3 servers and not many people left in the place. They finally took my card and went to charge it. We waited for them return. 10 minutes pass. Then 15. I stop one of the servers to see what the hold up is, and she says it'll be another 4 minutes because the credit card machine is being slow. So we wait another 10. Finally I come up and tell them how ridiculous it is that we're being held hostage by their seemingly broken credit card machine. The server informed me that I can go to an ATM several blocks away to get cash, otherwise I will just have to wait until the machine was fixed. I agreed to wait another 5 minutes, despite being late to a movie I had tickets to. Once we reached the 30 minute mark, I came back and said I couldn't wait any longer. She reluctantly tried the card again, and lo and behold it went through and I got my check. Finally. TL;DR: Ramen was meh, music was annoying, and no discount or real apology was offered for the egregious 30 minute wait we endured for our check or their neglect in telling us the machine was broken in the first place. read more

The noodles were thin and tiny, which was not what I hoped for. There was spice, but not that much flavor. The pork was juicy and tender, but that's pretty much all I have to say about this dish. But, since it's in Brooklyn, this is the best Ramen spot there is in my opinion. Lovely decor, swift service, kind servers and most importantly, good food. My favorite ramen in Williamsburg. Never overly salty and has a really luscious umami flavor. I've eaten there and I've ordered it in and I can say that they take as much care in your "to go" order as they do when you eat in the restaurant. Everything is packaged beautifully and separately so that it doesn't all mush together. Very happy with this spot.
