He is quite possibly one of the worst attorney's I had the misfortune of working with in my divorce case. He attended Regent University ranked 142 out of 196 for law schools and it clearly shows. Earl is unable to read a case nor formulate arguments on your behalf. He will change the terms of a settlement to benefit himself before he sends it to you, and not tell you about it until you catch him. He will degrade his client in front of opposing counsel and the judge. He never develops a strategy for your case, and he will never follow through on motions he files on your behalf. However, he will never forget to bill you for the subpar work (if you can call it that) that he performs. You will be far better off representing yourself than working with Earl.

His failure to return emails/phone calls, provide follow up, and complete paperwork in a professional manner delayed our divorce and resulted in increased costs for both my ex and myself. My ex and I worked together and mutually agreed upon the division of assets and our parenting plan. As a result, our divorce should have been a relatively quick process. Unfortunately, Michael's incompetence delayed our finalization and resulted in my ex asking me if I would have my lawyer fix Mr. Schulenberg's errors and complete the finalized paperwork. In addition to the blatant errors in his paperwork, he lacks a command of the English language. My lawyer and I made several corrections to the agreements he drafted. His own biography on Yelp is but one example. He mentions that his practice is located in Batavia twice, but both times he incorrectly spells it Botavia. Proofreading any writing that is published online or in court documents should be standard practice for everyone, but most especially for a professional looking to attract clients. If you're looking for a bargain lawyer, he may be ample for your case, but not all lawyers are in the same class and sometimes you get what you pay for. As my ex and I are on good terms, we have discussed this many times, and hiring Mr. Schulenberg as his lawyer is definitely a regret of his. The lesson learned is this, do your research prior to retaining your lawyer. It will save you time, frustration, and money in the end.
