We have been to several places, and as soon as we saw the barn, we had to book it right away for my daughter's Sweet 16. We had no major issues everything went pretty smooth. The only thing I recommend is to read your contract because I didn't fully read it and I didn't realize until it's too late about my refund of $500 that we lost Because one of our vendors didn't turn in the correct insurance policy naming Rancho la Mission as an insured party, which was totally my fault. Melida was so nice and understanding of how nervous I was to do such a large party. We were able to come anytime to do a photo shoot. Everything was stress free on day of party. I wish I had more pictures to post but I'm waiting for my photographer to send them. Party guests were amazed of how beautiful this place is. I had my wedding 2 months ago and everything we perfect expect the fact that I was charged for 3 security guards and 3 bartenders but only had 2 of each present at my wedding. It was $500 for each one. So that's a total of $3000 that I paid but should have only paid $2000. When brought up to the president, he says that according to the schedule there was three. 2 bartenders up front and one in the back. In the back? Really? Then when asked about the security guards, he said that one was roaming the parking lot, the other at the bar and the third around with the guest. I assure you that wasn't true. It is what it is, but I know Raul, the event president, made a profit and that's all he cares about. So make sure the time of the event, you get what you pay for! read more

Do not deal with this person under any circumstance. You risk having him totally screw you over, as he is very dishonest and will not honor a deal. I had a deal with Raul and had put down a deposit, then he found someone who would pay more for part of it and told me this 2 days before. He said he could still give me 60% of what he offered initially but for a much high price. Because of the short notice I had no choice and no time I agreed, and I asked him to promised he would not increase the price again. But lo and behold, in one day he found someone else to bid higher and told me I would have to increase the price again by almost 2x. So keep in mind that Raul will disregard any deal you make if he finds someone willing to pay more and literally the day before tell you that you must pay significantly more. He also has no remorse over doing this. He thinks that getting more money is justification for screwing people over and breaking his word. Do a search, look on the facebook page. See how many people he has made unhappy. It could be you next. It's not worth it, even if it sounds great to have the rug pulled out from under you at the last moment and everything ruined. read more

Attended a quinceañera here last night and had an AWESOME time! The celebration was held in "the barn" and was protected from the elements - it was raining that night but we stayed dry thankfully. Indoor bar was managed by two efficient and courteous bartenders. Event was catered (by a third party I THINK). Everything regarding food and drinks went off without a hitch. Plenty of space, lots of tables/chairs, and a perfect dance floor right up front and center. A DJ and Mariachis performed and the acoustics were perfect. During a break in the rain, I took the opportunity to walk the grounds and discovered MUCH more outdoor space available. A couple of nice fountains, an outdoor stage, an outdoor dance floor/seating area, an outdoor playground, an outdoor bar, and some random farm animals lol. Saw a small pony, a GIANT layed back dog, some chickens, a couple of ducks, and a beautiful peacock. Most of the animals were located inside or near a pen that was out of the way so they didn't seem to bother any of the guests. I thought this would be a nice attraction for the kids if the weather were better. The peacock was wandering the grounds but since they are shy birds it never got within 50 feet or so of anyone. However, it was close enough to get some good pix of. Everyone loves a peacock, right? We had a LOT of rain in the area ALL day long so the ground was very saturated. The gravel driveways and parking lot seemed to stand up well to the deluge but I want to include a couple of notes for anyone planning on visiting during inclement weather. If you have booked the barn as your venue, there is a stone sidewalk from the driveway right up to the front door - drop your passengers off here to keep them out of the mud. My final note is to not be a dummy like I was when leaving. Don't pull off the side of the driveway to use your GPS like I did. I got STUCK like CHUCK in the mud. Thankfully, one of the bartenders saw me when he was leaving and turned around to get the owner. They came back with their Polaris and pulled me out of the mud and they didn't act like it was a hassle at all. Thanks for that y'all - I appreciate the help you provided last night! read more

We only came for a tour. Notice how there are no recent reviews? This place is a scam. Since everything is done via their site, I assumed they would reach out to confirm, send pricing, info packets, a welcome message, etc. -- especially as 1. I mentioned I was referred by someone in the message, and 2. there is no pricing or other info on their website. Nothing ever came, but I then assumed they would have it ready the day of like all the other places we have come to tour. Nothing was given to us, no questions were answered as our tour guide was an older man who said he was the owner but had no information and couldn't even hear us half the time, and the president or money man as he was called also totally brushed us off when we arrived. We literally thought he was just a vendor who was helping set up and event that appeared to be happening. Costs $25 just to tour. We were given prices of $6k for the outdoor area and $8k for the barn (if they tell you to tour for prices, you're welcome) -- this was a starting price, in their words, "you can spend as much as you want on your event." Of course, they can obviously make up and charge whatever they want in the end. UPDATED RESPONSE: Let me break this down point by point that you are making... 1. Price start at $5000 and depending what services are added - not what we were told. So, maybe true maybe not, I'll never know. And this further begs the question of why there was no dedicated tour person/coordinator/whatever you want to call it. 2. We have been hosting events for years and we are not a scam (really, c'mon) - none of this section of your response is related to my calling your business a scam: your tour guide repeatedly told us, "YOU CAN SPEND AS MUCH AS YOU WANT (obvious much?)," plus, we saw reviews saying you charge $2.5k to turn on the A/C indoors, which was never mentioned. There is no rain plan? Chickens can sh*t in the bridal suite with no help from the establishment? No one on site to welcome you for a tour? There were bugs in the toilet which I didn't even bother to call out in my review? It all seemed off to me. 3. We are more than happy to help you create a beautiful event - if I'm paying upwards of $10k I guess I can see that being possible. Easy to say that on a review, but the experience we had that day said otherwise! 4. The reason we charge $25 to schedule an appointment is to help reduce no shows, a member will meet with you one on one and time is important for you and our staff - NOBODY was there and ready to meet with us. You, Raul, were not even professional enough to introduce yourself when we asked who we should look to for our tour! I totally understand the issue of no-shows, it's almost as sad for me to think that someone would waste your time like you all wasted ours, but I do think, upon your arrival and keeping your scheduled time, the $25 should be refunded! 5. We take every appointment serious and will provide as much information to make your visit worth it - we drove in from Houston to view several locations, and I wouldn't drive from five minutes down the road to look at this location again even if you refunded my $25 and offered the place for FREE. In the end, as I mentioned in my other reviews that I see you trying to remove, I have said if this is the place for someone and it's all magical, more power to them! The venue had a charming flair, especially at night, as a rustic ranch setting, but we had a difficult time with the staff. There was poor communication from the manager and lots of last minute costs that we were told about less than 48 hours before the event. We were also taken back that our guests had to pay for water bottles which we had planned to provide and weren't allowed. We have never been at a wedding venue that had an ATM in the corner next to the bar, either. The planner who was provided by the venue didn't seem to follow up on some of the details and left us scrambling to get things done the way we wanted. I have mixed feeling about this place. I had no idea it even existed until my friend had his wedding reception here. It is pretty much out in the country and easy to pass if you aren't really looking hard for it or it's at night. With that being said, the open air gazebos on either side of the "dance floor" are quite cute and accommodate even large wedding parties up to 200 or so, maybe more. String lights are strewn all over the place to give it a really nice feel without being too overpowering. There is a swing set for kids to play on and still be within eyesight of parents. Bathrooms are housed in as well as a little stand that serves as a bar. Bartenders were efficient which was great especially with such a large number of wedding guests. On to the down sides, closing time is 10:50pm. On top of that, there are barnyard animals, and all of their not so glorious smells, wafting into your celebration. The bathrooms are stuffy and have no ventilation...think about it. Gross. Also, make sure to bring a truck or 4WD because parking is in a back, unpaved, area. I'm sure it can get pretty bad when it rains. Also, the road in and out is only wide enough for 1 car. This place was not thought out well. With pros and cons taken into consideration, at least it was better than having it at some hall. It fit in awesome with the Dia de los Muertos wedding theme. read more

Don't waste your time.... Mainly don't take a tour with an event planner if you are looking for prices. After emailing the establishment we received an email stating that we couldn't get an estimate until we took a tour. Melida (their event planner) was in contact with us after and we had made her aware that we were looking into this venue for my baby shower. We then planned a time and went out to see the venue. Mind you, this location is 30-45 minutes out from just about everything in San Antonio. Initially it looks like a run down house with a lot of garden decor, dry/empty "pond" with a gazebo in the center and tacky signage. I understand it's hard to maintain grass and such in this Texas heat but it's crazy that for the price they charge you aren't even getting water in the pond or where they have the windmill and most of the grass is a yellow color. After parking we are greeted by some roosters, peacocks and a large white dog which were nice. Then we are greeted by Melida, the event planner who didn't even know who she was meeting with and what event they were looking to book for after exchanging several emails discussing details. We had sent her an email at 10:30 am the day of our scheduled tour to confirm. She never responded but later that day sent a text 30 minutes before our meeting time to confirm. That just showed lack of organization and poor attention to detail of who she was meeting with. We started walking to the barn area which is surrounded by a lot of random rustic looking stuff, for lack of better words, which might look nice if the grass around it is all green but it wasn't. Also, I'm personally not into that decor but it was hard to appreciate when it all looked so run down. She began to say that she doesn't give out any pricing or "isn't allowed to" and that's when we decided the tour shouldn't go any further. She said that all she could say is that to rent out the venue, it wouldn't be less than $5,000 but she couldn't give exact prices. SO WHY DID WE WASTE OUR TIME COMING OUT HERE?! That is the ONLY reason we came and she couldn't even give us price information? She then began to shoot down the fact that we were looking for a venue like this for a baby shower, as if she knew our budget, which really bothered me. Don't assume that someone won't pay a certain amount just because you wouldn't. She completely lost out on an opportunity and came off very rude. Definitely using Rancho La Mission for future events. I luckily found this venue when I had to search for a new location after our intended selection was closed and sold. We met with Raul who was extremely kind and went over all the logistics and numbers in detail. After a few months we started the official planning with Melida. We went to the venue to meet with her and go over our dream wedding. She was always available either via phone or in person to go over any additional details. Day of the wedding, both Raul and her were there early in the morning making sure that everything would be running smoothly. Especially since we had a huge stage production brought in. Even now two months after the weddingh we have family and friends still talking about how beautiful the scenery was there. Also the food provided by the caterers chosen by Melida and amazed at the 10 minute firework show. Can't wait to have our 10 year anniversary there and go bigger! read more

The owner Raul is very friendly when you book, then ignores you the rest of the time. He was very rude the day of my wedding. The contract you sign is misleading!! Be sure to ask lots of questions and get exact answers. We were told setups would be provided, according to bartenders only ice and cups count as setups... after a long discussion and lots of frustration it was then decided that water and coke would be provided for drinks containing alcohol only, water and soda for guests not drinking alcohol would cost 2$ a bottle or can, outrageous! Tables for guests were provided but cake table, gift table and sign in table were all extra and expected to paid the minute I got off the car, even though none of that was communicated. BEWARE OF THIS VENUE!! I have pictures and emails to prove what I have written here. I don't think I can put into words all of the horrible things about this venue but I will try. Brides and grooms beware! These people are liars and crooks! They will tell you what you want to hear and then months to weeks before your wedding they will come up with every excuse possible for why things are going the way they were laid out in the contract. We booked their venue a year and a half before our wedding. They promised us the barn would be done so we booked our ceremony outside the barn and the reception inside the barn. Less than two months before the wedding they sat us down to say the barn may not be finished, knowing very well that it would not be done, since they have not done anything in a VERY long time to the barn. With such short notice and them telling us we wouldn't get our money back to find a new venue we decided to have our wedding at their outdoor area. We were told in the event of rain we would have to provide the tents. We were also told about a week before the wedding that there was no longer a place for my husband and the groomsmen to get ready since we were not allowed in the barn. They told us the guys could get ready in the stuffy, un-vented bathroom. Not really ideal for pictures. We had to change all of our pre-wedding plans and had to contact our vendors and change the plans with them too. Michele is definitely not a wedding planner. Not only did she not plan a single thing for our wedding but she couldn't keep track of a single detail about our wedding. We had to remind her everything we had talked about every time we met. She forgot about an appointment she had made with us and tried to book it again with us. She was barely a day of planner. Now on to the day of the wedding....the guys showed up and got ready in the one bridal suite so the photographer could get pictures but they had let a chicken in the suite overnight and it has pooped all over the room. Raul refused to clean it up so my dad had to clean it and the guys had to catch the chicken and get it out of the room. When we arrived, some how another chicken got in the room but we quickly got it out. There was trash all over the venue, including random signs from previous weddings. There was a big hole in front of the barn, where the ceremony was. They had covered it with a piece of wood. We have pictures. They immediately set up a concession stand at the reception which doesn't look very nice to all the guests. Plus they charge all they guests for any water or sodas. We were aware that they would do this but didn't realize how crappy they would make it look when they put all the "items for sale" out on the bar. I, the bride, had to check with the timeline that I had made, throughout the night and try to keep things on track. Michele did not try to keep us on track at all, nor did she tell us if we were ahead of schedule or not. I'm not really even sure if she looked at the timeline. Raul walked around our wedding taking videos of us and our guests having fun but they had nothing but square footage to contribute to that. He posted the videos on their Facebook page. They have deactivated their fb page due to all the bad reviews people started leaving. We had a sparkler send off for our grand exit. Michele lit people's sparklers before the guests were even lined up and my husband and I weren't even over there. They are so unprofessional and do not hold up their end of the contract. Please do not be fooled by these awful people. Avoid this venue at all costs Edit: they have since re-activated their fb account and have deleted the video from their fb of our wedding, thankfully. They have also taken off all reviews and are only posting the good reviews from google. They are blocking all the brides on fb that have left anything bad on their page. Our wedding day couldn't have been more perfect at Rancho La Mission! We had access to the entire venue (indoor and outdoor spaces), which also meant 2 bridal suites and a grooms suite to utilize for our larger wedding party. The staff was super helpful, the owner was terrific and the wedding planner/coordinator is the BEST EVER!!! The entire venue is gorgeous with different water features and plenty of great photo areas. There's even an island with a great rock bridge that was completed just in time for our big day. The outdoor pavilion space was perfect for cocktail hour and allowed our guests to wander the rest of the venue to get some pictures of their own. It has its own bar area, so our guests didn't have to go back and forth for drinks. The barn was amazing and made our reception/party that much better! There was plenty of space for all of our guests, separate bar and catering area and they allowed our photo booth to be set up outside. Everything about this venue was great! I don't even know where to begin. Like the others, I was promised the barn which I did not receive. What sold us on the place was the barn and the fact that we would get a wedding planner. We got neither. It took emailing Michelle several times and waiting several weeks to even get a simple email response. Every time we went to visit the venue the barn looked exactly the same and things like lights were not working and the pond was filthy. They finally told me a week before my wedding that the barn wouldn't be done, which I had already figured so I waited on making my last payment. There was a chance that it might rain so since my wedding was now going to be outside since they spent everyone's money on everything but the barn, they gave me no other choice but to pay another $2000 for a boat tarp and what looked like kegs with poles sticking out of them lining the dance floor and blocking the door to the reception!!! Hours before the wedding Raul called my husband to tell him that they were incompetent in getting the canopy up. Go figure I mean it was a boat tarp... my husband told them to give us our money back since they couldn't come through on the canopy. Raul said he couldn't do that and offered to give us the shitty boat tarp that he had only paid $400 for. My husband said no and demanded that Raul write us a check for $2000 that day. He did but postdated it for almost 3 weeks later. We went to cash it on the day it was marked for and it went through but bounced 8 days later completely wiping our accounts and leaving us with additional fees. I called Raul to tell him that he had wiped my accounts clean and he basically said he didn't care. He then said he would pay us a week later but when that didn't happen we told him we were going to call the police for him writing a hot check. Only after we said that did he refund us only $700 and promised to pay the rest in a couple weeks. He then refused to answer my husband's phone calls, emails, or texts because quite frankly he is a huge pussy that can't deal with the consequences of stealing people's money and most importantly ruining one of the most important days of someone's life. They refused to offer water to my guests even during dinner after being forced to have my reception outdoors in 90 degrees weather. If guests wanted water they had to pay $2 a bottle. They told me i could prepay in advance so even if i paid for 2 bottles a person at 150 people I'd be looking at paying $600 for water! The food was left out and bland as shit. My husband and some of the bridal party had to get ready in their house because they didn't have a grooms suite and then later they said that they broke into their house. My mother in law got electrocuted in the bridal suite which has since been shut down but they continue to use it. The grounds were all wrecked up with huge pot holes everywhere and my grandmother kept tripping and another guest fell as well. Raul walked around with his shirt off and his staff ate my cake before all of my guests were even served. The police officers that were there did not ask my mother in law if she needed medical attention when she was electrocuted. Instead, Raul's disgusting, highly unprofessional's ass laughed at her while the poloce officers stuffed their faces with cake. The bartenders didn't serve all of my guests champagne because they were short staffed and so some of my guests did not have champagne for the toast. Their kids were dressed grungy and are in all of my first dance photos looking like homeless children. They charged me $150 for liability insurance which we found out they didn't have after my mother in law requested it. Lastly they had one more fuck you for me when they started the sparkler send off and my husband and I didn't even get to finish our last dance. They are the most crooked people I have ever dealt with. They kept giving me the run around and adding charges to my contract. They even tried to change the contract on me! And good luck ever getting your money back from them. I suggest you dispute all charges on PayPal and if you have already booked this place cancel and dispute your charges. For the love of God if you are a dumbass who likes being swindled, by all means book this place. They are currently being investigated by news stations, the fire department, wedding websites, the bbb, and the police. They have also had to take their Facebook down due to all the horrible reviews. I got married June 2018 in the barn. The barn is beautiful but pricy. The property is nice but the contract not so much. Read your contract folks, fees everywhere. We paid a lot of money to rent out the place and things just went wrong...so wrong. The so called wedding coordinator Melida was no help, she answered a few questions but did nothing else, my mom and cousin did all the planning. The day of the wedding my bridal suite was hot...in the middle of June mind you it was hot. When we asked the wedding coordinator her answer was they didn't turn on the ac in time!!!! My wedding day! While I dressed I sweated like a damn pig. They messed up my song when my father and I walked down the aisle..and we did a run through the night before. The reception was great expect the bar people were charging my guests for water and alcohol.....we supplied the alcohol and they still were charging does that seem right? Of course they denied it when it was brought to the owners attention...they charged people. The agreement was $100 for 100 items such as water, chips etc. We paid over $300 so our guests wouldn't need to purchase water. Well guess what they charged people water too after we paid. Sneaky just sneaky. I would not recommend this venue to anyone. The owners came off nice but damn shady. All the money we spent they couldn't even remember my parents name...they kept referring them as grandparents. read more

Ive been in the wedding/planning/floral business for 20+ years, so when I get invited to new places I always have a certain way of looking at things because I not only have a business outlook, but also my own personal opinion. Ive been to Rancho La Mission on a couple of occasions. A few times as an invited guest, and another to hold an event. I was extremely pleased with Raul and Michele's professionalism. They run a family owned business, but have wonderful vendors that they have obviously established great relationships with. I really like to see that in this business. The ranch itself is beautiful during the day, and in the evening when its all lit up. It has many things to accommodate both young and adult guests. From the miniature horses, to taking a walk over to the bridge by the pond of fish. Because this is a ranch, its surprises me to read the other comments about any smells from the animals, some people are not that bright though. You are on a ranch for the nature, and the rustic elegance of a beautifully decorated celebration. What I saw was Michele the wedding coordinator has every aspect covered, and gave the event all her attention making the events I attended wonderful. That is a tough job to have, to make so many people happy and she is always happy to work on anything needed or to keep the things on track that were planned by their customers request. I have seen only amazing pictures from this place, including the ones my photographer took at my event. During the day and in the evening, it has a romantic comfortable atmosphere for everyone that was there. I would most definitely recommend this site for celebrations. I attended a wedding here about a year ago. I was appalled to see how the owner handled himself at the venue. Yelling at the mother of the groom, acting like her concerns didn't matter, etc. The craziest thing that occurred is the security the owner hired CUT the wedding cake and began eating it before the bride and groom were able to cut it first. The owner did not see what the big deal was all about. If I could give negative stars I would. I felt awful for the families involved in this horrendous wedding!!! read more

I was really disappointed in this place. My friend had told me she was really excited about having her wedding at a barn BUT when we got there to my surprise the Wedding was OUT SIDE because the "Barn" wasnt ready. And it was COLD! Then they had all these farm animals and it smelled funky. Also, they had this play set next to the dance floor which was okay for the kids, but at the time of the "toast" you couldn't hear anything with all the kids yelling. In my opinion the 2 houses opposite to the dance floor didn't add anything to the venue besides make it look out of place. So Im sitting there trying to enjoy the scenery and all I can see to my left is this house that has all these toys thrown around and a bike thrown on the ground and these older people that I guess lived there kept coming and going. I personally can not believe this person rents his property as a "venue" when it is merely nothing more than elaborate patio area with an incomplete barn. read more
