Steak Chimichaunga and Tilapia dinner were both good/okay. Chimichanga was a bit greasy. Pool of grease on plate. The fish (served whole) was cooked well and tasty but wasn't very meaty. Chips and salsa were good. Service was average. Nothing special. I found the lack of salsa's and sauces distracting. Surely with authentic mexcian a variety of sauces would be availabe. I was told only the red salsa they serve with chips is available along with a green salsa. They have assorted bottled hot sauces at the table. Steak was high quality. No chewy bits. Menu was extensive and appeared to have many options including Oysters.....dare I try them????? I will come back and try some of the other menu items for sure. LOVE! This was the best authentic Mexican food I've had in a LONG time! My friend and two of his friends suggested this place, and it was soooooo good! Definitely more food than I could eat (and I can EAT), and it was just delish! The chips and salsa are made fresh (love the fresh cilantro!). We don't often finish chips and salsa at the table, but we have on a few occasions. I'm not big on "spicy," but the soup before the entree had just the right amount of kick without being overpowering. I've had several things from the "Mexican Favorites" portion of the menu. The steak chimichanga is another favorite. Portions are ample, hot, and fresh - even when we've been there right before they closed. The drink selection was good as well. Service was attentive but not overbearing, and they didn't seem bothered by the fact that we arrived so soon to closing time a few times. I LOVE Rancho Nuevo. We eat here about twice a week on average. I always get the chicken enchiladas verdes because they are so delicious I don't want to even bother with anything else. The first time we ate here, I got enchiladas suizas and there was a mole sauce or something on it that I really didn't like. I'm so glad we came back! My boyfriend likes the chorizo burrito and the steak quesadillas. All meals come with chips and salsa and delicious mexican chicken shell soup. Our average bill, including a $5 tip is under $25. We've never had any issues with waitstaff except maybe refilling drinks during the busiest time at lunch (and I'm pretty sure that one time that happened they gave us to- go drinks). Meh.... Its hit and miss now. You can tell the food by the cook who is working that day, and who is behind the grill. At times, we've had a great meal...other times? Overcooked...overseasoned...and food is bland... Don't know if they are going through cooks, but they seem to not stay for long....hence the "crapshoot meals" Can't tell you the days which is better and the time you need to stay away and try something else. We've stopped going, and have been going here for almost 8 years. Time to try another, because we've been disappointed now far too many times the last couple of visits... This place was packed when we ate there for dinner on a weekend... and we weren't sure why. The food was sub par - tough steak in the burrito (Which was $14!! Ridiculous prices!). The service sucked - there was just 1 waitress for the whole dining room it seemed and she was taking to go orders, answering the phones, seating people, busing tables AND serving. The salsa is not spicy at all. We had to keep asking for things and flagging down the waitress, even though we had call buttons on the tables (which made an annoying sound in the kitchen you could here over and over again through the whole meal). The phone was ringing super loudly the entire time we were dining making the experience even more unpleasant. NEVER going back. read more

I was here last Sunday for dinner and it was excellent!! The restaurant is clean, lots of seating, great service, the sangria was delicious and so was my dinner. I also went to the grocery store which is located next door and is also accessible through this restaurant and was a find that was!! Great produce and meat selections at great prices! Was extremely disappointed with this place. The salsa was good, the chips were hard and almost seemed stale. We started with the shrimp cocktail, looked huge, but had only 5 shrimp in it. Did not like the soup at all. Husband had the fajita trio, was lacking in flavor, was not sizzling, nothing to get excited about. I got what I thought was a steak in a red sause with poblanos and cheese melted on top, what I got was dry beef strips with poblanos in grease with cheese on it- looked like a plate of vomit! The beans were so bland, I didn't bother eating them. Would not go back or recommend. Holy Frijoles is 100 % better. read more

Yes, I know what you are all thinking the girl who is allergic to peppers is reviewing a place that has dishes full of peppers:| But this place has gone out the way to make sure that I will still have a great meal without having to worry about having a allergic reaction. Rancho Nuevo has a great selection of items on their menu. The mixed fajitas (chicken and steak) are most delightful. In the breakfast selections the jamón n huevo (eggs and ham) is a great choice. If you don't have my allergies I have been told by my significant other that the tamales are to die for. So if you are in the neighborhood stop in to Rancho Nuevo for a great meal:) read more

Food was pretty good.. Not great. Service was terrible! Many things (drinks, chips and guacamole) had to be asked for twice. We had to get up and ask for the bill even though we had clearly been done for quite awhile. They charge if you ask for extra chips and don't tell you first. And the tip is automatically included so I guess there is no incentive for good service. read more

I got the wrong order and my waitress had the nerve to tell me I was wrong and that she asked before putting my order in which she didn't. Anyway service is garbage. RIPPED OFF! Terrible service and barely average food and not great atmosphere. Four of us walked in at dinner time and we were seated at a table near the kitchen even though there was only one other table occupied. Finally received menus and drink order taken. The other couple had dined here before. We waited forever for our drinks and waited even longer for our meals. The meal was not prepared as requested (cheese on the beans should not be a big deal) and they said drinks were not as usually prepared. We finished - and waited for our bill . . .and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited. Finally the waitress came back chewing food. She had apparently been having her dinner. She slapped the bill on the table and we planned to split it. We noticed that it seemed very expensive for what we had ordered. We looked more closely at the items and she had padded the bill by double! Very difficult situation to solve - now our plates were gone and she had to save face for trying to cheat us - and now no one understands English. Asked for a manager and no one available. We paid the bill and agreed that we should warn other potential diners to stay clear of this place! read more

I used to really like this place. We went recently and I honestly don't know what happened! The soup had a distinct fishy taste to it, it was spicier than I remember too. The beans were disgusting, I'm pretty sure they were from a can, over seasoned fake Mexican tasting canned refried beans. The rice was definitely not fresh, nor hot. Their menu used to be a nice mix of different platillos and now it's over the top seafood and alcoholic drinks. Best Mexican around! The food was very fresh and tasted great. The service was nice and attentive. The soup was a very nice addition to the meal. We got nachos to start and they were ok, I wasnt a huge fan of the meat they used. The salsa they bring with the chips - yum! The carne asada was amazing! We went on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy, I highly recommend.
