Where do I begin? I guess from the start . . …read more First, let it be known that I am a long-time volunteer with a national breed rescue group that handles a different kind of spaniel. While I had never had a Cocker before, I was very familiar with how rescue groups work. Years ago, when my youngest son was in college, he wanted to adopt a dog, but not a large one. He was enamored with Cockers, so I helped him by putting in an app to adopt. At the time, CSRET was overloaded with available dogs. I visited their booths at various pet stores, and when my son came back from school for Thanksgiving break, we went to see a dog that was being boarded locally. He just didn't connect with that particular dog (as matching a dog to the right owner is truly key), and we were about to leave. Just then, one of the techs brought out another dog that had just finished heartworm treatment. And that's all she wrote . . . This lovely 2-year-old girl came home with us that day. She went back to college with my son, but things got to be a bit hectic for him, what with work and classes. So she came back to live with our crew. And I personally fell in love with her. I realized what a great breed this is, and this girl became best (and I mean BEST) buds with one of our other dogs. About the same age, they went everywhere together. Her previous heartworm condition finally caught up with her, as the infection (although gone now) must have damaged her heart. She had congestive heart failure and went to the Rainbow Bridge in October, 2023. We were all heartbroken, but I had a really tough time accepting her loss. I knew that I wanted another Cocker in my life. Contacted CSRET and put in an application in November, 2023. While a bit slow to respond (yes, they are all volunteers), I finally did connect with them in January, 2024. There was this wonderful boy that they wanted me to meet -- Met his foster mom and the CSRET director at a half-way point in Friendswood. I knew this was the guy for us, and we took him home that day. He is everything I yearned for after the loss of our first Cocker. He is an absolute joy. Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas, as stated, is an all-volunteer organization. They receive no funding other than donations. All of their dogs are fully vetted, tested and treated for heartworms, current on all vaccines and groomed. They are also temperament tested to determine the best kind of Forever Home for them to go to. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful organization. Since, as I said I work with another rescue group, I can attest to the professional way that they take in, handle, rehabilitate and get these dogs into great homes. With an excellent reputation, CSRET is an absolute pleasure to work with. Rescue and save a life!

The dogs are vaccinated and cared for prior to adoption. Leo turned out to have some undiagnosed health problems due to the abuse he suffered by his prior owner and required medical treatment. I reached out to the rescue group and without hesitation they assisted with his medical bills. Without them Leo would not be the happy, loving creature and constant companion he is today. I would not hesitate to adopt from them again.

After spending two weeks with Pawsitive Care, and then doing day training with them for a week, she has improved so much! She's learned to walk on her leash and stay beside me waiting for me to let her know when to walk or stop, she can literally shake off her anxiety when she gets too keyed up, and she's learned to stop jumping and sit to wait for pets instead of climbing all over you. Ashley was amazing and offered advice and help even when the training period was over. Definitely recommend - my dog loved it there and it's made her (and our house) so much happier!

She was knowledgeable about her gliders and helped me find a suitable mate for my other sugar glider. They have a different diet that they feed their gliders here, than other exotic pet shops. They have a specific formula they feed their gliders, that I haven't seen anywhere else and it seems as though the gliders thrive on it! The pet glider is the BEST place to get your glider and glider accessories. Though they are a bit more pricey than the average exotic pet shop, it's still worth it. You get what you pay for.

I called ahead of time and didn't get to speak with anyone, but their answering machine indicated that they were open. The last time I stopped by (2 months ago) they were open, but just not allowing people inside (curbside assistance). I was able to get supplies and my get my girls their nail trims. Now it appears they aren't even doing that. I called when I got there, and a young lady came out to let me know all of this. She said that we can only pick up online orders and when we pick up our supplies someone may or may not be able to do nail trims--she wasn't sure. She was very sweet, but I was so confused. There was nothing on the website that indicated this. I understand that these are difficult times, but I just wish I knew before I loaded up my gliders and headed that way. Still a fantastic company, but I felt a little blind-sighted. Yelp literally says that they are open until 6pm today (it is 11am on a Saturday). Clearly that is incorrect. When I emailed her about the prices of the classes I wanted to know more about the short reply that came back was that private lessons were $150 a month. I replied back that I did not want private lessons and questioned that she had even read my message. She replied that all her courses are 4 weeks long and cost that price. However this is what is on her website: 'Canine Nosework Class begins Thursday, February 12, at 7 pm. Classes will be held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Price is $40 per month.' So after that I messaged her back again.... and it did not improve from there...
