In our final mutual exchange he went as far as to contradict himself after avoiding me for multiple months, being purposefully unreasonable by offering meeting times way outside of my availability schedule. For over a month he claimed to be out of town, out of the office, or unavailable despite frequent emails and returns to the office. To this day I call him my former attorney despite ongoing litigation, but I have no real way of knowing whether or not he is still my attorney because I received no withdrawal confirmation only the request submitted to the courts. In the end I discovered he was most likely holding out in order to pressure me into settling, so that he could make a quick payoff of my suffering rather than seeking the most beneficial outcome for me and my situation. I had brought up the possibility of malpractice by my doctors and he decided that was grounds for his withdrawal, which to this day I cannot find legal grounds to support this action he took. Not only did she fail to take meaningful action for over a year, but she also failed to appear at a critical hearing, leaving me unrepresented and unprepared. She did not notify me, did not arrange alternate counsel (as required in the event of a medical emergency per her own contract), and did not respond to phone calls or emails in the months leading up to that hearing. Instead of taking accountability, she falsely claimed in a later motion that I simply requested her withdrawal--when in reality, I had to fight to remove her from the case after she abandoned it. It took three more months before she finally filed to withdraw after phone calls where all I could do was leave voicemails asking her to explain why she didn't show up and why she won't get off my case since she is ignoring me. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but deeply harmful. I have now accomplished more as a pro se litigant in the past year than she ever did while representing me. The worst part is that she was paid through a domestic violence program, which entrusted her to advocate for vulnerable clients. She failed me entirely. I paid the price--not just financially, but emotionally and legally, losing even more time with my children because of her negligence. I strongly urge anyone considering hiring Janay to read the many similar reviews left by others who experienced the same abandonment, inaction, and unfulfilled promises.
