Randy Hold is professional and an expert at his work. I went to him because I was ready to quit smoking for good. I had a cigarette just a few minutes before I walked into his door. I had two sessions with Randy to address my arachnophobia. Listen - it's not just a fear of the creepy crawlies - it was DEBILITATING to have this phobia. Small or large, thin or thick, my life was greatly impacted by this fear. I would see one in my house and be completely paralyzed, break into a massive sweat from head to toes, my legs would become wooden, my heart-rate would skyrocket, and my head felt like it was spinning. It was at the point that a home invasion would be easier to deal with than a spider! Yes, it's ridiculous, but it was the truth. My phobia started to take a life of its own and it was defining who I was and what I could and couldn't do. So...after a few days of searching for a hypnotherapist, I saw Randy's website. He was the ONLY hypnotherapist that didn't go into a bunch of woo-woo terminology and feel-good rhetoric. He used very straight-forward language, which for someone skeptical like me, was very practical. AND there was a picture of a spider. Two days later, I made the call and when I talked with Randy about my phobia, I began to sweat and "freak out" just talking about spiders. While on the phone, he had me go to a quiet room, concentrate on his words and directions, and I began to feel the effects of his guidance. What a kind person! He cared enough about me, a perfect stranger, to help me get through my panic attack over the phone! Listen, it's a long review but I wanted to give people the context of what I was going through and how much I was affected by my fear. Things I wanted to do, I just couldn't do! It's hard for folks to understand this, and that's why I'm elaborating. I wanted to garden, to camp, to live on a huge piece of land, to be comfortable in my own house, to be calm even with a spider, AND I also didn't want to transfer this fear onto my kids as they are still young. And I couldn't do ANY of this because of spiders. Small or large, it didn't matter. Ok so the first session with Randy was just great! He's very nice, open, trustworthy, kind, compassionate, patient, understanding, experienced, and is open to humor! The session was 2 hours and we got into some DEEP stuff. So much came out. I had these massive realizations that were just mind-blowing. I can't imagine these issues coming up in "regular" therapy, but it was all there in front of me in just 2 hours. Well, I got home and guess what. A HUGE spider crawled across the floor right in front of me. I killed it. Just plain stomped on the thing. No freak out, no sweating, no panic. Just walked over and killed it. Husband and I went to the mountains the next weekend - LOTS of spiders in the room. On the pillow, in the bed, in the shower, even on the towels! Not a problem. MY husband was absolutely amazed at the transformation! He was stunned at what I had accomplished! Fast forward - I went in for another session and again, MIND-BLOWING at the level of self-realization I got. There was so much that was buried deep in there - messages that my own person was trying to tell me over the past few decades and it all came out in those 2 hours. I only wish I could type it all out for you, the reader. But you'll have to go on that journey for yourself. You are capable of finding out what your mind, body, and emotions are trying to communicate to you. What are you holding on to? What are you afraid of? I am so grateful that I met Randy - my phobia wasn't about spiders, it was something else. And those accumulated 4 hours of session brought it all out so I could face it, deal with it, and let it go. Since my session, I've killed all the spiders in the house that show up, I've started gardening and am perfectly fine with the spider that lives on my raspberry plant, and I clear out the spiders that like to visit my daughter's playhouse out in the yard. I'm not going to be kissing any tarantulas, that's for sure, but I'm not paralyzed with fear or fleeing my own house because of the arachnids. When I find myself with much tension and fear creeping up, I use the skills taught by Randy to get in a place where I can calmly address the issue. It's not a quick-fix magic bullet - it's a set of skills and techniques that can be used for anything that triggers an emotional reaction. These exercises can be practiced anywhere at any time and will greatly enhance self-awareness - making you be a better person for you AND the people around you. Five stars does not do justice to Randy Hold and the California Stress Relief Center! I was desperate to end an onset of panic attacks and anxiety that came out of the blue and consumed me. Traditional psychologists and cognitive behavior therapy would be the usual route, but luckily the California Stress Relief Center felt right. Randy has multiple therapies in his tool box and can use one or all them. I thought EFT (tapping) was what I wanted, but for me, that was nearly was effective. I had immediate results, but continue to see Randy not because I need to, I want to! I've learned so much about myself and see Randy guiding me to be a more, relaxed and loving person.
