If you are seeking peace and quiet, I would look for other options. But the water in the lake was relatively warm (ideal for swimming compared to the frigid waters of Maine's coastline). Also, the water was very clear and clean. One interesting note is that Sebago Lake provides the water supply for the entire city of Portland, ME. The tap water there had a delicious, clean taste from the fresh water of Sebago Lake.

This lovely park and swim area is just outside the city. There is a playground with swings, slide,…read morerocking motorcycles, see saw and even an old school merry go round that leaves everyone dizzy. There are gazebos and tables for picnics and shelter from the sun. The swim area is not the sandy beach type but rather a grassy knoll that leads to a refreshing pond. The bottom is murky only when you get deep. Perfect spot to cool off and enjoy the fresh air. There is a boat launch across the street as well.

It's rocky, so swimming shoes are a must. There's a big rock to sunbathe on. It disappears when the tide comes in. Pammy's Ice Cream Parlor is at the end of the road and is a MUST.

Their porta potties were so nasty and smell horrid but guess what the one that they have chained closed that says employees only was such a clean toilet! there's hardly any beach there they allow too much people on there at the time so you're overcrowded and the small little beach area that there is so they can make more money! This place I do not recommend back in the 80s when I used to go there it was a cool place to go and it was nice but now with the new owner she didn't even show up this morning until 9:05 AM when the place opens at nine and we were standing there waiting to get in

People love dogs. I know that, I understand that, but I am not one of those people. The amount of people who take their dogs off the leash and let them run wild is just crazy. Every few feet when I'm just trying to enjoy a leisurely walk, a dog comes running up out of nowhere and I've even had a few try to jump on me. The owners never apologize and just laugh it off. Not only am I allergic to dogs, but they make me very uncomfortable. I wish people would respect that just because "he's a good boy, don't worry" doesn't mean that everyone sees it that way! I'm sure people will say that it's my own fault for going back, I just feel that people should keep their dog on a leash if they can't control them.

I had been here once before dropping my son off 10+ years ago for Cub Scout camp and thought Jesus this is a nice place to return to but coming back as a patron it would not be a place I would revisit because the water access was blocked by 100 yards of mud flats with the tide out. Yes there was water or rinsing stations to clean yourself up, but I would have to pass. Not worth going in.

We enjoyed the trails on the east side more. The hikes are relatively easy and provide decent views however the proximity to the road provides a constant noise from nearby cars. Overall a pleasant experience, though.

This is a great little trail to take your kiddos on. There's a playground, a story walk (that…read morechanges monthly), beautiful water views and an easy to follow trail around the pond. If you take a little detour off the story walk, you'll even find a cool teepee shaped bunch of sticks leaning against a tree. Children love to explore this area. It's not so far off the path that you'd ever get lost. In between the first few pages of the story walk, when you have an opportunity to go straight, do so. I promise it's only a few feet down the path. Can't miss it!

I wasn't expecting so much from this little park right off Route 302 (it's located on a dirt road…read morejust after the Westbrook Pool & Spa; there's a large granite sign at the mouth of the road, and you've probably passed it a million times - I know I have - but once you see it, you'll know exactly where this gem is forever)! Donnabeth Lippman Park - formerly known as Chaffin Pond Preserve - is 123 acre mostly wooded area that surrounds a 10 acre pond that's apparently great for fishing. I came here for a walk in the woods and was delighted to find that there was more than meets the eye: there's a family-friendly (you could easily take a stroller here - it's packed earth and not very root-y), totally accessible to all abilities, story book trail with a giant "Once Upon A Time" sign inviting you into the woods (how magical and fantastical is that?). Once you're finished, you can walk back to the parking lot from here via the yellow trail or you can take that same trail and follow it up alongside the pond, through the woods, then back down around the opposite side of the water (side note: I love loop trails - who wants to double back and see the same things?). A red trail deviates off to Mud Pond, and a green trail just adds an extended path through the forest before reconnecting to yellow. All of it is perfectly marked! It's a wonderful walking trail and if I lived nearby I could see this also being a solid spot for a good run! Admittedly, after heavy rain or during spring you should expect it to be quite muddy. No hunting allowed here, so it's a good spot for year round enjoyment (for those of you who are looking for a new snowshoeing spot!); there's an abundance of picnic tables overlooking the pond, a swing set, a big playground area, and plenty of green space to stretch out on. Again - what an unexpectedly great spot hidden in plain sight!

The Auburn Riverwalk has a lot of potential--it offers beautiful views of the Androscoggin River,…read morescenic spots to relax, and a path that connects Auburn and Lewiston with access to Bonney Park and Railroad Park. I really appreciate the city's effort to create a space that educates and encourages walking or running. That said, the maintenance could use some serious attention, and it's not a place I'd recommend visiting after dark. Unfortunately, the presence of sketchy activity at night makes it feel unsafe, which takes away from the overall experience. Great concept, but it needs more upkeep and security to really shine.

Having been born and raised in Lewiston, I feel I have the right to criticize this city and this…read morepark. I know they are trying to make the area better, but I didn't feel comfortable along my run. A lot of the people I saw were getting into trouble which is not the purpose of a nature park. It doesn't help that a lot of the trail runs next to old, dilapidated buildings. It's a shame because a trail like this along the Androscoggin River and Great Falls is a great idea. The view of the bridges, crossing the train Trussell and meeting up with other parks is fantastic. It just falls short for me. I'd rather drive a bit to find a better park.
