I wish there's some way I can transport Kaisu and her practice closer to where i live! The day…read moreafter my session with her, I woke up, relaxed, and didn't want to get up because i felt so good. Feeling good in the absence of aches and pain that was only apparent in their void. Seriously, my body felt ten years younger!!!
A few months ago I was searching about Sauna for my upcoming trip to Finland and came across their website. I have never heard of Finnish Bone Setting before, only the Chinese type (aka Amy Tan's The Bonesetter's Daughter) where you go when you literally break a leg. Ever the adventurous one, I booked an appointment. My husband was at first hesitate (what if she set my bone wrong it will ruin my vacation!) but ended up joining me.
Kaisu was the perfect introduction for our first real Finnish sauna. She led us through the whole set up in her lovely sauna room, from the little woolen Elven hat that supposedly will keep your head cool, to the various body care product for the shower. Tar-scented soap? Seriously, you Finns?
The sauna was a relaxing, tranquil experience, different from the public saunas that can be fun and social but also chaotic and claustrophobic.
When it was my turn for the bone setting, Kaisu looked at my back and went Hmmm. Hmmm is never a good thing coming from a medical practitioner, lol. Kaisu set to work, fixing what my bad posture has done to my poor body. The bone setting was gentle, never with any cracking, not quite like a massage or chiropractic, but it sure worked wonders. My body felt a whole decade younger after the treatment!
Finnish bone setting is little known, even some of my Finnish friends are not familiar with it. But if you have a chance, do try it!! And I hope one day it will more mainstream like China's acupuncture. Imagine all the people that are taking painkillers or even surgeries, to be helped by gentle manipulation of their spines and bodies!
