Delicious food, better seating needed…read more My wife & I recently went to Austria with a Tour Group. One day we stopped for lunch at Trofana Tyrol. They had a "self-serve"/"pick and choose" arrangement for getting what you want to eat. First, there were so many good choices from which to choose. Second, it was not very easy to choose. My wife and I both opted for a Tiroler Gröstl, a favorite dish in the Tyrol region. It had rightly-seasoned potatoes, bacon, and onion - basically, it was a very tasty treat we have never eaten before. With a nice slice of spice cake for dessert, we had a wonderful meal. Two final observations. First, although they did charge 50 cents for the WC, they then provided you a 50 cent discount on food or merchandise. Second, the main disappointing aspect of our visit was the problem of a lack of available seating for customers. This was confusing to our group since they are prepared for, and are accommodating to, tour buses. In closing, if you are in the area - or simply passing though - and want some terrific food, be sure to check out Trofana Tyrol. You'll be glad you did - but be sure to find a place to sit.

This place is sort of weird, but awesome at the same time. It's a rest stop off of the autobahn…read morethat has restaurants, a market, an Austrian souvenir shop and apparently hotel. I was driving from Lindau to Telfs and needed petrol and this looked like a pretty good size place to stop for a bit. After I had filled up my tank, I pulled into the parking lot and went in. It's nicer than your typical rest stop on the autobahn and it has a pretty cool Austrian theme on the inside. They have a food court and a market that specializes in speck. The speck shop (for lack of a better term) has all of the local varieties and other random things (like the awesome speck chips). If you're driving on the A12 and coming from Germany into Austria, this a great place to stop.

When entering, there is a dining space which is designed very comfortably and allows people to walk through without disturbing those eating. The restrooms were being cleaned constantly, and were very up to date. The overall experience was great, with well lighting and pleasant smell's throughout. The food r provided at the rest stop was also great, ranging from a few different items. We decided to get a vegetarian dish that resembled falafel and loaded french fries. It was delicious and filling, we shared it amongst 4 people. You could also purchase bottled drinks, snacks like chips and ice cream and chocolate, or beer and wine at the rest stop. Overall the value of the items was the same as other german rest stops, which tend to be pretty high.
