Maya took care of changes to our family trust, saving us a ton of taxes when the time comes. It is more complicated because my brother also has a special needs trust. I spoke with four attornies before Maya, and all of them said the change we needed couldn't be done and/or this was too specialized of an area for them. But Maya said no problem. My father (and I) found ourselves in a desperate and uncertain situation after he had an unexpected medical event. He didn't plan in advance or make any arrangements (health and financial) for this eventuality, and I was totally ignorant of what to do. This was one of the most stressful and exhausting times in my life. I didn't find Maya at first, unfortunately. Instead, I stumbled upon a different elder law firm that had a 5 star rating on a popular review app. That misstep amplified my stress and wasted valuable time. This other firm charged me for an initial consultation to answer basic questions about medical coverage and estate planning. Then, the firm said we needed to have a follow-up appointment 3 weeks out. Bear in mind the firm knew my dad was in the hospital and it was unclear what his condition would be in 3 weeks. While I can understand the firm was busy, they wouldn't even return my calls during this 3 week waiting period for something as simple as scheduling.
