We started with the octopus and tuna tartare, both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. For entrees, we had the tagliatelle with short ribs, vodka rigatoni, and ravioli, and every dish was delicious and cooked to perfection. Tucked within a completely non-descript strip mall along Route 130 in Robinsville may be the best hidden gem Italian eatery in New Jersey. Intimate without being fussy, Ravello delivers meals portioned for adults prepared with the love and care of my sainted grandmother (if she ever learned how to cook.) Sorry Nonna. My spicy cavatelli with sausage and sun dried tomatoes was simply amazing as was a Caesar salad that could have been a meal all by itself. Blown away! My girlfriend dined here at Ravello By Toscano a few months ago and raved about everything - especially the food. While I whole heartedly trust her opinion on food since we have such similar tastes, I did think that she may have been over-hyping it a bit. Wow, was I wrong! Expectations were exceeded and then some. Ravello is located in a strip mall and is easy to spot by a beautiful illuminated sign. Upon walking in we were seated immediately. It felt nice and cozy inside. The lights were a little dimmed and it wasn't too noisy. Another plus is that it is BYOB! Each employee we dealt with was professional and respectful, and our server was tremendous. Between the 3 of us we had some troubles deciding what we were going to order, yet our server had the utmost patience and offered great recommendations. The complementary sourdough bread that was brought out right after we were seated was soft and warm with a perfectly toasted crust and the flavor, between the olive oil, spices, and cheese, made for some of the best bread I've ever had. This also became a common theme throughout the night with many of the dishes we ordered. We split every plate three ways which I enjoy doing especially at restaurants I've never been before. Our appetizers consisted of Tuna Nachos and Duck Macaroni & Cheese, both I believe were specials. The tuna used for the nachos was fresh, sushi grade ahi tuna over house made fried wonton chips that offered incredible crunch. The Mac & Cheese was the creamiest, most comfort-food-esque Mac and Cheese I've ever had. It was topped with a fried tomato that added great texture and crunch. For our entrees we ordered spaghetti (all of their pastas are house made btw) with prosciutto and orange zest. Prime NY Strip topped with Lobster, and Seared Scallops topped with Artichokes. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly Al Dente and a creamy sauce with subtle orange flavor which cut the creaminess and richness of the sauce nicely. I really enjoyed the temperature to which the steak was cooked and the lobster made for an indulgence I don't often experience. The Scallops were seared with a very, very nice crust and were as tender as you could have hoped. Of course after all the food we ordered we were full and had plenty of leftovers, but could not say no to their Brownie Sundae with Cannoli Cream and Salted Caramel Ice Cream. Two brownies split by layers of cannoli cream was unique to me and delicious. There was not one dish we ordered that I wouldn't confidently recommend to anyone trying Ravello. The food was phenomenal, as was our entire experience. While we were eating I started going through my current list of my favorite food items from all of the restaurants I've ever been to. Bread, now Ravello. Tuna Nachos, now Ravello. Mac & Cheese, now Ravello. Scallops, now Ravello. Spaghetti, you guessed it, Ravello. The prices are also more than reasonable for the portion size and quality of the food you receive, and the presentation of each plate was beaut If my drive was not 45 minutes I would be a regular here. This was our first visit to Ravello (but not our last, for sure). After hearing about the restaurant from friends we decided to give it a try with our "Mini-Yelp Group" (Something forced upon us as Yelp has decided to eliminate any meaningful activity in Central or South Jersey). First, I must comment on the garlic bread delivered to the table before we even saw the menu. This bread - toasted with cheese and spices, accompanied by a few huge olives - was the best bread I have had in quite some time. I could take two orders with a side of sauce and would be happy! Appetizers consisted of Octopus (quite tasty but could have been a little crisper), Traditional Caesar Salad and Tuna Tacos. Terrific start to our meals. Entrees consisted of Veal Milanese (almost looked like another salad), two Pork Chop Specials with Sweet Potato Tater Tots!, a Scallop Special, Chicken with Shrimp and Chicken and Linguini with Clams. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and they came out hot and in a timely manner. The Scallops were very good but I should have asked the price when ordering. Desserts, because we really needed dessert! We shared a decadent Chocolate Brownie with ice cream, Zabaglione and Tres Leches. Terrific! Ravello is BYOB and our server, Jason, was friendly and knowledgeable. Came here with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day! We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated immediately. It's a small restaurant but the decor and ambience was very fancy. We came around 5:30 on a Saturday evening and it got busier as the night went on, so definitely call ahead for a reservation! It's BYOB, I would recommend bringing your own wine to share and pair with the food. Service was good -- our waitress was very thorough and patient when going through the specials with us. We started off with some delicious crispy bread covered with cheese, butter, and garlic. For the appetizer, we ordered the Sweet and Sour Calamari, which was pretty good -- I think I would have preferred the sauce on the side as some of the calamari got soggy at the bottom, but still enjoyable. We also got a House Salad and Vodka Rigatoni with Sausage. The vodka sauce was so creamy and tasty! When we asked for the dessert menu, they brought out their dessert items on a board to choose from. We went with the Tres Leches Cake, which was so sweet and delicious! This was by far the highlight of my visit! Overall, it was a good experience and the food was tasty but not worth the price. Small, but nicely decorated. Wife and I went for date night. She had the Penne Vodka, and I splurged and went with Filet and Lobster ravioli. Took one bight of the lobster ravioli and oddly, couldn't taste any lobster... just ricotta cheese. I swallowed and the strongest aftertaste of fish filled my mouth. Grossed me out so much I lost my appetite. I tried a bite of the filet, nothing special, but appropriately seasoned. Wife got the flourless choc cake for dessert and said it was good. Hats off to the chef! We were two couples here fir a 5:30 pm Saturday evening dinner. From the start, we were greeted and and taken to a very comfortable table inside. They do have outside seating in a tent as well. This is a BYOB venue. Hector was outlet waiter who was excellent. There are several specials as well as delectable choices on the regular menu. I have never had a bad meal here. The sweet and sour Calamari is outrageous. The best we have ever had. We ordered the sesame tuna special which was cooked to perfection with rice and grilled pineapple. This was also amazing. I am grateful to have another meal out of my leftovers. 3 of us had the tuna and our friend had the salmon over couscous. Fantastic breads! The complimentary seasoned sliced bread was an excellent start. The olive oil and parmesan seasoning was spot on. The Tomato Pesto flatbread appetizer was another excellent showing of their expertise with breads. The Sweet and Sour Calamari dish was tender and crunchy. Overall a nice complement of crunchy, sweet and sour all in one dish. Shrimp and Clams Linguine main course just wasn't as impressive. The shrimp and the clams weren't the stars of the dish. There were far too many cherry tomatoes which overshadowed and may have complicated/diluted the flavor. I didn't get the briny clam brothy flavor I was expecting from the dish. read more

I've always loved Ravello, however, tonight was a completely different experience. We had a party of 8, with an early reservation, the waiter and waitress were not so pleasant. We felt rushed out and pressured to hurry through our dessert and coffee. The guest paying the bill made a mistake with the tip on the bill, an honest mistake for which she apologized at least four times, the waitress was so rude when asking "was there a problem w the service ", she could have handled herself with a little more compassion and less attitude. We will not be going g back anytime soon. read more

This was my first time dining at Ravello's. We were there with another couple and there was almost no one in the restaurant, but they seated a very loud group of guys at the table next to us, instead of elsewhere, there were lots of options. The food was excellent, no complaints about that, which is why they got two stars. Sadly, the service left a lot to be desired and clearly left a very poor reflection on this restaurant. We were constantly asked if we were done, would we like to pack up our leftovers, while we were still clearly eating our dinners. The topper was that at 9:00 they literally started turning off lights, giving us the signal it was time to go. Yes, they state they close at 9:00 but if there are still diners in the restaurant, is it proper to chase them out? I've never experienced that before. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants (and I'm picky). I always bring people here when they're visiting NJ and no one has ever been disappointed with what they've ordered. Last time I went, our server Jason was awesome and gave us great (and honest) recommendations for menu items which we really appreciated. They have a great selection of items and normally have good specials too. It's also BYO which is nice! My favorites: Chicken parm- one of the best chicken Parms I've had! The serving is HUGE. The chicken is super tender and the sauce is delicious. Chicken Marsala- also one of the best chicken Marsalas I've ever had. The sauce is so flavorful, chicken is perfectly cooked, and the sauciness pairs so well with the mashed potatoes Excited to come back and try more. Highly recommend! read more

Came here for dinner tonight and walked away feeling a tiny bit disappointed. First, staff were great! We were seated immediately and our server did an excellent job throughout the meal (present without being overbearing). The ambiance basically felt like a standard Italian restaurant - perfectly fine but nothing too romantic or inspirational. I will say that the table bread was really delicious! Crispy and with a healthy topping of garlic and butter. For our appetizer, we decided to get the sweet and sour calamari, and maybe it's just me, but this dish did not hit home. The calimari were really greasy and I didn't love the sauce. For my entree, I got the tagliatelle short rib and it was totally fine but not exceptional. My perception was that the pasta was not freshly made (feel free to correct me!) and the flavors were decent but not awe-inspiring. I may sound super critical but if I'm paying $26 for a pasta dish, it better be really yummy :) Overall, I do think we'll keep searching for an amazing Italian restaurant in the area, but this is certainly a decent spot that's worth checking out. read more

Out table had the short-rib tagliatelle which is a menu regular... never disappoints. Three others had the NY strip that was the evening's special. Excellent, attentive service almost like home! The bread was clearly made with love and passion, one could conceivably make a meal out of it. My entree was fresh salmon over penne with sun dried tomatoes and fresh spinach. It was one of most enjoyable meals I've had in recent memory. It was worth the 7.5 hour drive! Having been to Toscano in Bordentown, and really liking it, we wanted to try Ravello up here in Robinsville and we are glad we did as the food was very good in deed. Starting with their meal balls appetizer which were two and both the size of baseballs cooked perfectly moist and delicious in a very nice red sauce that was quite good as well. Then to our mains which included chicken parmesan served over gnocchi again with their red sauce and an excellent veal milanese covered with an arugula salad. Both meals every tasty and both portions very large lending to take homes. BTW the garlic bread served with the meal was tasty and came with a side dish of olives, a nice touch. The ambience was fine and the service provided was both friendly and efficient. Although, Saturday can be a little hectic. Overall a decent dining experience and we will return again probably on a week night the next time. read more

We started off the meal with the house garlic bread which was perfectly crisp and topped with parmesan cheese. For appetizers we moved on the Caesar salad, burrata, and sweet and sour fried calamari. The stars of the show were the pasta dishes. We ordered a decadent penne a la vodka, creamy Cacio e pepe, and linguine with shrimp and clams. We finished the feast off with bread pudding and dulce de leche cake. Food was freshly prepared and eye appealing, every bite delicious! Save room for dessert! 1st serving of delicious bread!! We tried their awesome broccoli rabe, the tomato flatbread, garden salad and fresh pasta with asparagus accompanied with awesome service. We came here on a whim last night. My husband got the pork chop special. It was out of this world delicious, so many complex flavors, I couldn't stop eating off his plate even though I was so full. It had this wonderful root beer sauce (I know it sounds weird but trust the process). And the presentation was beautiful! Priced at $38 which I honestly thought was not bad at all. I had the chicken parm which comes with gnocchi. I just ate my leftovers and that prompted me to go back and write this review. One of the best chicken parm dishes I've had! This is a very cozy, quaint & rustic restaurant. The brick pizza oven is inviting & produces some devine bread! The bread is crispy but soft inside and topped with oil & grated cheese. Olives on the side. Our app special was burrata with Brussel sprouts and figs - sooo good! (a pricey $14 though!) Vince loved his short ribs (too rich for me). He commented that he'd order it again. I really like my tender "slabs" of chicken in my HUGE chicken parm meal. The sauce was nice, thick & fresh but didn't blow me away for some reason? The aldente rigatoni were perfectly served. This is a restaurant I've been to many times and have never been disappointed by either the food or the service. So it is unusual for me to have to write this review. We had Father's Day dinner there yesterday and I realize sometimes on a holiday , service can be unpredictable. All in all we had an unpleasant experience. There were multiple experiences where we felt the service was rushed. I finally asked one of the staff if our table had a reservation waiting and they said yes. Regarding the food, most dishes were what we've expected in quality. However, one of our guests ordered a pork chop Parmesan, which came out raw. To the restaurants defense a staff member came by and said that he would not be charged for that dish or the replacement entrée he ordered. However, how does a kitchen staff send out an entrée of raw pork that is hard for me to comprehend .. The waitress we had seemed to be in a sustained bad mood throughout the entire dinner so all in all the service was not good. I normally come here for lunch, and as I said, it has always been excellent. But the inconsistency of yesterday's dinner and the negative moments I've explained above will give me significant hesitation to return. read more

My family and I came here for my brother's girlfriend's graduation dinner. I've always wondered how this place was after passing it several times. This is very easy access whichever direction of Route 130 you're coming from. We had such a positive dining experience! This place has great Italian food who took it upon themselves to add creative culinary twists to several of their dishes. I had a bit of a stomachache that day which unfortunately impacted what I could eat but I know it won't be my last visit. The complimentary bread was sooo good coated with a nice amount of Parmesan. We asked for so many refills of this. For an appetizer, our table shared the calamari, brick oven wings, and muscles with chorizo. These did not last long! I was so impressed the calamari was served with sweet and sour sauce. It really kicked things up a notch. I really liked the Asian flair. I wasn't feeling all that well to try everything else though. I had the vodka rigatoni with chicken. The sauce was splendid and I was served such a huge portion of it. It also came with bits of prosciutto which was so yummy. I tried my boyfriend's bucatini carbonara and we both loved this! My mom's chicken francaise was nice and lemony and my dad scarfed down his lasagna. My brother and his girlfriend both really enjoyed the ahi tuna which I believe was a special that night. We were way too full for the dessert, but their menu sounded scrumptious! After learning Ravello by Toscano was a sister restaurant of Toscano in Bordentown (which I really enjoyed) I was excited to try this place out! The menu looked fantastic with lots of creative Italian inspired dishes. The location is in a small quiet strip mall with plenty of parking. The atmosphere is very casual with a small view into the open kitchen (glass enclosed) and simple Italian decor touches. We dined on a Wednesday for dinner but I imagine reservation would be a good idea on the weekend. We were warmly greeted and sat right away. Our server was friendly and let us know about the many specials they had that day. They all sounded fantastic. Our toddler got a cheese pizza, and my husband and I both got specials. I ordered the Iowa strip steak special served with spinach risotto, and he got an Ox tail pappardelle. While we waited for our meals we enjoyed the complementary fresh bread and olives along with our bottle of wine we brought with us (it's BYOB here so come prepared!). My son devoured his pizza and my husband and I both really enjoyed our entrees. My steak was rather large so I took leftovers home. We ended our meal with cappuccinos and a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream to share. So delicious! Everything on their dessert tray looked amazing it was hard to decide. I like Ravello. I'll start with the worst part up front. Sometimes, when they get really busy, the wait staff can get a little dismissive of someone with questions about the menu. It's not something that happens often and it's really attributable to just the stress of serving tables in a crowded restaurant. I have nothing bad to say about Ravello's menu. My go-to order is always the chicken parmigiana. The serve it with gnocchi and it's always bursting with flavor. It's fresh, hot and the the portion is always ample. I've never had a dish come out under or over cooked. It's really excellent. They have a fantastic little dessert menu and I'd strongly recommend...I'm going to butcher this... the fruit parfait champagne stuff. It's fresh blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries in this whipped champagne cream. Holy cow it's good. The serving size has gotten a little smaller these days, but the past few years have been brutal on the restaurant industry. Oh! They give you this thick cut bread that is laced with garlic, olive oil and parmesan. They pop it in the oven so it's crispy and hot. It comes with a few olives. If you don't get it when you get seated ask for it. Trust me. Ravello isn't cheap. You should know that going in. You're paying for good food, decent portions, knowledgeable waitstaff, and a nice ambiance. I think you get that in spades when you dine there. Book your reservation early. read more

"A gem in Mercer county" Saves the trip to north jersey/shore for some quality Italian food in the local mercer county area! Delicious Italian food with a little bit of their own twist added to the dishes that makes it also something unique. Definitely check out the mussels and the calamari appetizers, really was something I have never tasted before...it's not common that a twist is added to Italian cuisine, but they did it right! I would recommend making a reservation because the place isn't too large especially with the amount of patrons that definitely eat here. read more

We were in town for a horse show and found this little gem based on reviews. Simply outstanding, some of the best Italian food we have ever had. Ordered Caesar salad. to be shared for two.. Asked for anchovies on one portion. The waiter, Lukasz, said there would be a slight charge. Ordered the Sea Bass special for $45 for one entree, and the Salmon for $35, for the other. Once served, the waiter, and no one else, ever stopped by to ask how everything was. The salmon was okay, but the Sea Bass was terrible. Improperly cooked,apparently poached instead of pan seared, skin left on, and served literally floating in a indescribable watery liquid along with the beans. What a waste! Ultimately, the waiter showed, to take dessert orders. In order to salvage the 50% okay, 50% abominable meal, we ordered dessert. The lemon Tiramisu was quite good. And, about the 'slight charge' for the three (3) scrawny anchovies (like those from a $2 can), it was $5! I still left the usual 20+% cash tip. I have been there many times over the years, but will not be back. Advice: If you ever go, do not ever order a 'special'. Ever! read more
