Raviolis de Juin (named after the wife of the owner) is a true safe haven for people who pride themselves on knowing where to find a good dumpling - I'm talking to you New Yorkers, San Franciscans, Vancouverites, foodies and asians of any way shape or form. On Rue de Charonne, tucked in between the standard pizza and french fare, is a rare treasure. Simple. Exceedingly tasty. Undeniably affordable.
Given that this place is a neighbourhood secret, I was hesitant to share...but sharing the wealth of knowledge is the right thing to do, so you, my friend...have struck ravioli gold. The menu is spare - because when your food is stellar, you know that you don't need much else. Raviolis/dumplings made to order with perfect and uniform technique and full of mad flavour. My personal favourite things to order are the ravioli l'agneau (lamb), a bowl of steamed rice, and a bowl of spicy chili brothed noodles. I prefer the quieter hours of lunchtime vs. dinner, but admittedly, have sat at the bar more than once in a day.
Now, no exaggeration, I will travel the world in search of flavourful dishes, but this place ranks among the tops for what they offer. Small and mighty with hearts of gold - that is my type of place. read more
