    I went to Ray's as it was a short walk from my Airbnb, and it was super delicious! The food tasted great, and portion sizes were good for what it cost. Almost everything on the menu could be made vegetarian as well! There were very few staff members, so we waited quite a long time for our food. The staff were super apologetic for the wait, and were seemingly apologizing to the other tables as well. I don't mind waiting a bit longer for food that's good, however, my friend got her meal over ten minutes before I did. If we have to wait, that's ok, but I think getting our meals at the same time would be nice. They also had the windows open, and the AC was cranked, so it was quite chilly inside. Overall, I do recommend trying Ray's. But maybe order to-go to avoid waiting?

    The greater Seattle area has been blessed with decent Thai restaurants for awhile. I've been pretty much focused on just two spots as established favorites, one down in Lakewood and another in Seattle's Broadview neighborhood. However, on this rainy Saturday evening (5/3/25), I found myself driving on the usual Greenwood Avenue route and found a nearby parking spot. The Homie and I decided to check out Ray's Rice & Noodle Bar, which took over the former Satay Bar, located between the temporarily shuttered Dray and long time fave, Chocolati. We were warmly greeted and seated at a two top by the entrance. It's a pretty tiny spot with a few tables and a wrap around counter seating area. There were also two flat screens that had travel/culinary shows featuring Thailand. Nice to see that this is another family run indie spot. There's an open kitchen with constant active cooking going on and dishes brought to tables fresh and hot after its preparation. Clearly popular since most tables were occupied and did brisk concurrent takeout service too. The Homie had Lemon Thai Iced Tea ($5), I stuck with iced water. Very refreshing and refilled frequently....The Homie was parched after his earlier activities at Seattle Center and I had finished gardening. Hydration was duly noted by our wait staff. Items ordered and delivered well paced were: Pork Belly Dippers w/sauce and shredded carrot garnish ($13), Crab Fried Rice w/cilantro, lime wedge, cucumber slices, and requested no peas ($19.50), Crispy Garlic Chicken topped with fried basil and served with steamed jasmine rice ($20.25). They definitely nailed it with service and quality. Looks like Ray's Rice & Noodle Bar will another Thai spot to add to our rotation.

    Solid place. I really appreciated the nuance of the flavor in both dishes we ordered. There was a delicious umami from the fish sauce, sweetness and spiciness to the dish. Okay value for portion of foo. Fair amount of toppings in the dishes and honestly I wished there was a bit more rice and noodles to go with all the toppings. Appreciated that you could customize spice level. Service prompt. Wonderful ambiance.

    Loved the Thai food here. Super mom and pop vibes with really sweet but no over the top service. Food came out quick and hot. Good for takeout or maybe 5-6 tables inside. Standard but delicious Pad See Ew, meat was also good quality, I've seen that go downhill in other spots.

    Excited to pop into this newer Thai restaurant in Greenwood! Loved the service and ambiance of the place. We tried the crab wontons, pad see ew with prawns, and red curry with chicken. The pad see ew was so so so yummy, pretty spicy for a 3 star dish. The red curry (also 3 stars) was pretty bland but the herbs were nicely balanced. I took off a star due to the wait and also inconsistency across dishes. We would definitely come back to try more dishes!

    I got the crab fried rice with broccoli, spice level two. It was perfect. I like how they put the lump of crab right on top so you can see it all before mixing it in. The service here was very friendly, they treated me like an esteemed guest even though I was just taking it to go. Will def be back!

    Panang Curry

    I have been waiting to go to this place for awhile but the schedule and my work schedule haven't aligned. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait. I got Panang Curry to go with chicken. The plate itself already costs $15.65 and the image online has the plate of curry with rice to the side. Imagine my surprise when I get there and it's not even a full to go container with curry, NO RICE! Online rice is an extra $2.25- EXTRA-- making it seem the dish already came with rice. With tax and tip my total came to $20.57. I paid $20.57 for a not full cup of curry without any rice to even eat it with. Safe to say i'm disappointed. At least the curry is good, a bit spicy for 1*.

    Deliciouss, fried rice was 10/10, wings 10/10, pad thai noodles 6/10 along with orange chicken. Not a fan of Tangy food but thats just a personal preference. Customer service was great, everyone is super sweet. Would come again!!

    I ordered DoorDash from here and the crab fried rice gave me food poisoning. It smelled extremely fishy it was 100% spoiled meat

    Our delivery was ready quickly. And the food was super tasty! My kiddo has celiac and they made sure her noodle dish was made gluten free.

Two hairs - one in my kaisen champon, one in my partner's niku udon. A dead bug in the niku udon. A staff member walking the floor actively bleeding from his nose with a napkin stuffed into it. Any one of these on its own would have been a rough night. All three in the same meal is something else ‍ The kitchen is small and open so you can see and hear everything, which meant we also got a front row seat to the chef yelling at his staff multiple times throughout the evening. The team was clearly working hard and seemed genuinely understaffed, but the kitchen felt like it was coming apart at the seams. We were in line to order for about five minutes, during that time we heard the employee at the register say to the man in front of us that there is no more summer special cold udon flight. Bummer, but totally understand. The menus are acrylic boards at the ordering counter, there were two for the two specials and they were left up when we went to order. The employee told me that unfortunately they have run out of the other special (not the flight). We didn't get utensils with our food, and were told "I'll grab utensils for you, sorry about that" So we just sat there waiting for utensils. Food is good but there are hairs and a bug ‍ During our time waiting the water wasn't ever filled (it's self serve) so after our food came I asked for water three times, kept getting "I'll refill it". The chawanmushi showed up 20+ minutes after our food, basically as we were finishing. And they don't have to-go containers, which fine, but worth knowing. I've given this place real chances. Last night felt like a hygiene issue, an understaffed kitchen, and a service breakdown all stacked on top of each other. Usually we go during lunch so maybe that's my recommendation moving forward - I'm giving this place a rest from the rotation for now.

Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. The 14yo ordered beef brisket noodle soup. He said it was delicious, but too spicy after he added too much chili oil. The wife scoffed at the idea that there's such a thing as too much chili oil and ate some of his soup. This was after she dug into her hot pot. I did get a chance to sample the delicate pork pieces and the flavorful rice. The slightly crispy rice at the bottom of the pot were so delicious. I had the Singapore style fried noodles. Really tasty. The noodles had so many flavors from the vegetables to the meats (shrimp, chicken meat & egg, and pork) and the sauce.
