DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BUYING A CAR FROM THEM!!! My family has been going to this dealership for years, leased and bought many cars here. They've always treated us well so we've sent many friends to go there as well. Unfortunately, my family must be very special because after sending a friend of mine in, they have completely taken advantage and screwed her over. They worked their car salesman shade and manipulated my friend into getting a car with endless issues. She's had this car for less than 90 days and the transmission is already shot. They have always gone above and beyond for me in the past, but after a phone call was made they told my friend they had no loaners and were unable to help her but that they had been aware of this transmission issue when they sold her the car. My husband and I wanted to get a new Mazda CX 5. We went to Tom Roush because it is the closest Mazda dealer to us. They didn't seem to want to do business with us with our trade in because we had an abs light on. They turned us away. We then drove to Ray Skillman to see what our options were because we didn't feel like we were treated fairly at Tom Roush. From day one my experience has been poor to say the least. I went in one Saturday morning after finding the vehicle online. I worked with a salesman named Zip who hit on me the entire time, asked me if I smoked week and asked if I needed to call my boyfriend or a brother to help me purchase the vehicle. I guess a young, female isn't capable of purchasing a vehicle on her own??? I wanted to walk away so badly but the deal was better than anything I had found in months. I negotiated to have them install a screen on the dash and it was poor quality to say the least. They did not give me temporary plates or send me any information about registering my vehicle. Within 3 months I had an issue with the tire rim coming off when I was driving down the highway. I asked them to repair it and that was apparently too much of a hassle. Also, recently the paint on the front bumper has completely started peeling off. I now live in a different state and when I took it to a mazda dealership here they said the vehicle has clearly been in a wreck and when they repainted it did an awful job. I called Ray Skillman to discuss the issue and see if they would provide any service considering they told me the vehicle was free of wrecks. The sales rep wasn't overly helpful and in fact said "oh your car also has one recall on it." I said "ok, good to know. Can you tell me what the recall is?" His response was "I don't know, it just says one recall." Umm... okkk aren't you the Mazda dealership, shouldn't you know?? So I then asked to speak with the general manager as the sales rep was just passing information between the two of us anyways. The manager immediately said there is no way we can help you, maybe try calling the Mazda customer service because there is nothing Ray Skillman can do. I said ok, well I'd like that number and I'd like to let you know that my experience with your dealership has been poor to say the least. He immediately got so rude, his tone was very demeaning. Before even taking the time to ask what has happened or what my experience has been he immediately went into attack mode and said "It sounds like you're just making stuff up now and trying to blame us for your paint and I don't even know what your experience is but you're just being ridiculous." At this point I could careless if they cover the paint they obviously aren't going to. I just said "No, I just have had an awful experience with your dealership and your response now is only further proving my point." He started raising his voice and said "look I can't do anything for you and tried to hang up." I was like umm you're supposed to be getting me the mazda customer service number.... I finally told him this isn't the high school cafeteria and his attitude was unnecessary. I was trying to explain my experience with his dealership and staff but he could of cared less. He was on complete defense which is rule #1 of customer service..... not to do! It also makes me question what he's trying so hard to cover up.... I wish I could give this dealership 0 stars and I would tell everyone I know DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. It's honestly just not worth the time and hassle. My frustrations aren't with the fact that they won't fix my car. I figured that was a long shot but worth asking since the vehicle has clearly been in a wreck before I bought it. But it's amazing how a little customer service could make that not a big deal however, I have had zero customer service from them. read more

I was looking for a second car for my family since i was taking a new job 80 miles a way. Many said no do to my bad credit history. Joe Garry, Finance Manager for Ray Skillman. Called me and Emailed me YES you're approved! As a family we where very happy. my wife has MS an has functionality well, but can not walk to work do her job then walk home. (this is Indiana it will get cold). Joe showed us a car i was sure we could not afford. I told him i don't think i can get finance for such a nice car. He told me my wife and daughter. "I'm the finance manager you're approved to buy this car if not i would not show it to you" I signed a contract with ray skillman stating such agreement. on 10/03/15. On 10/21/15 joe garry contacted me saying we cant get funding because "you changed jobs" then told me you will now need 1000.00 down or a cosigner. I was in need of a vehicle ASAP which made the stress of finding a vehicle even more intense. They initially gave me a 2009 Ford Escape and printed out an Auto check report and allowed me to drive it home with a $200 deposit which I was grateful for since my car no longer had a working engine and was too old with too many miles to repair. After driving the vehicle home I checked it out and found a Carfax report in the armrest compartment. It was hard to believe the difference between the two reports when having them side by side they looked like two different vehicles. Of course the report that I had was more favorable reporting no accidents and only 2 owners. When I brought the vehicle back and questioned the salesman he had said that both reports vary and basically talked around the subject and offered me another vehicle to drive. So I drove off the lot with another overnighter vehicle. I test drove it on the highway and without warning it completely died on me. The sales man picked me up about 30-45 minutes later and brought yet again another vehicle to test drive home because by that time it was getting late. They apologized profusely and said that they would make me a good deal when I returned to their dealership the following day. I liked what they gave me to drive it was exactly what I was looking for. The vehicle did not have the price on it but they told me that because of my troubles they would discount the car $3,000! So when I tried to bargain with them they would not budge because they had already decreased it so much. I left without a car and was not sure that I had made the right decision until the following morning when I checked out the website and found the car that I drove was advertised on line as being already marked down to my discounted price! I hate being lied to! If this vehicle had been marked on line at the price that they told me it that it was I would have gone in and purchased it. They made me believe that they were really trying to give me a deal! Too bad for them, I bought a vehicle 5,000 more than my original requested price range. read more

As a frugal individual who requires a great deal of research before I commit to purchasing a car, Joe and Angel allowed me to go at my own pace and created a pressure free experience. Additionally, I was very impressed with their willingness to go above and beyond when it came to answering all of my questions. My Brother wanted to buy a car from Ray Skillman. I texted the Salesman Pat. I asked if Pat was at the dealership so I could bring my brother in. I received the most awful text from his (Pat) wife. I know from experience Salesman are Commission. I know by Experience that we all in todays Economy that we ALL work by Media (Internet, Email, Text, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin). especially if we are in sales. His wife acted out of the MOST dispect. and pretty much was a VERY JEALOUS WIFE... My brother wanted me to co-sign and take him there yesterday. ARE you kidding me. WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS ALLOWS THE WIFES TO TREAT CUSTOMERS THAT WAY!!!!!! I tried to call Pat to talk this through with him. Guess what. HIS JEALOUS WIFE CHANGED THE PHONE NUMBER. Sorry Pat. If I am co-signing for my brother you just lost NOT 1 deal but 2. Maybe your wife will think twice the next time she decides to text another Client like that.
