Came in for dinner with our family and was absolutely blown away with the amazing service and food. The atmosphere was cozy and friendly. They provided fresh warm bread and butter. I ordered the wedge salad and it was by far one of the biggest salad I have ever had. It was tasty and could have been a meal all itself. I also ordered the filet and it came with two side options. Even though the restaurant wasn't open yet, we were able to start with a drink and watch some football. Once the kitchen opened, we decided to split a ribeye and some sides. Perfection. We've been wanting to try RB'S for some time. We finally found our opportunity. After walking in, we stood for a few moments before someone said, "Are you looking for the restaurant? It's upstairs". So we headed for the stairs and passed a man who looked like he was setting up for some music. We asked if there was going to be music and if we could eat in this area, the bar area. Affirmative! So we took a booth. We ordered a couple drinks and the Cowboy steak to split with mac & cheese and baked potato. The steak wasn't bad, not great, above mediocre, about a 3.5. For $48, a little pricey. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was fun. A lot of locals karaoking. We're not singers, but we had fun watching some of them. If I could choose 0 stars, I would. We chose this place for our anniversary dinner because we've been before and the food is genuinely good -- but this visit was incredibly disappointing. We were seated and then completely ignored for a LONG period of time. Staff walked by several times, and we were told more than once that "someone would be right with us," but no one ever came. To make it worse, a woman who was seated after us was helped right away -- her order was taken while we were still just sitting there waiting. Meanwhile, everyone around us was getting service -- drinks, food, attention -- and we continued to be overlooked. We eventually left without anyone ever taking our order. My husband called 2 times after the experience and left 2 messages for the owner, but we never received a call back. It was incredibly frustrating to be treated like that, especially on what was supposed to be a special night. We've had good food here before, but the lack of service and follow-up this time were disappointing -- especially considering there are several other great choices on the mountain. We were up at Lake Arrowhead for Oktoberfest and wanted a place for dinner. I found RB's on Yelp and it looked good so we decided to give it a try. It's a bit tucked away from the road so we actually drove past it at first and had to turn around. The inside felt like a nice place to hang out with nice rustic touches. The bar is downstairs and the dining room upstairs. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken in a timely fashion. I think almost all of us ordered the New Yorker steak. Mine was cooked just right (medium but more on the rare side) but one of the others was a little too rare for his liking. The kitchen was able to fix it and we were all happily eating our delicious steaks. Overall, we were pleased. The next time we are up there and need a dinner spot, we'll be back! read more

Came here for our anniversary dinner. They were in a middle of a remodel so there was only seating in the bar. We didn't really care though. Our waitress was very welcoming and efficient. Everyone was happy with what they ordered and our food was cooked to perfection and we were especially surprised by the soup of the day (stuffed tomato soup) It was kind of like chili kind of like vegetable stew, I can't really explain it but you must get it if they are offering. The buffalo wings were also some of the best wings we have ever had! As of now this place is super casual and doesn't really have date night ambiance. We were visiting from Arizona and I was craving a steak so we checked this place out and I'm so glad we did. I had a prime rib special that came with 2 sides for only $25, it was cooked perfectly and had some of the best tasting horseradish sauce I've had. My husband had the fish and chips, the batter was crispy and the fries were cooked perfectly. Everything was excellent. The drinks were cheap and strong. We also got cheesecake as a complementary dessert from the owner (thanks!) Our server was very kind and attentive. My husband had the steak and seafood skillet, which he found excellent. We also tried a well drink, topped off with an appetizer of bacon, cheddar cheese, jalapeños, and paired with ranch sauce--definitely a unique combination. Alongside our meal, I enjoyed a hearty beef vegetable soup, while my husband opted for a fresh and tasty salad. It's a small restaurant above a bar. We were probably the only tourists there although everyone was friendly. I love supporting local spots like this. Our server was very warm and accommodating--she has this positive energy filling the room. It truly felt like having dinner at a neighbor's home--yeah, that neighbor who has mad kitchen skills and also knows how to serve up killer drinks. Everything was awesome and the kids absolutely loved their orders. It's just, well, my steak was supposed to be medium well and it was served well done. However, the minestrone soup side blew my mind and so did the bread that came with my husband's Alfredo pasta. The steak was also tasty (most US steak places have a blandness about them) and this important detail made me finish my plate in spite of the hard texture. We've been here twice after driving down from our cabin to shop at Timberline nearby. They say they open at 3:00 but it seems that's only for the downstairs bar. Unless you are a local regular, the bartender isn't friendly or helpful. We've only tried a couple food items which were ok. Beer was good. Cocktail was nothing special. Hope they succeed as there are limited choices...maybe be a little more welcoming and improve the cocktails. read more

With close to no information about the restaurant, we stumbled upon it on yelp and rolled the dice. Three separate levels of small dining areas. Nothing impressive from the outside. Even the inside was mostly unremarkable. We waited a bit to get seated and then came the unexpected. The food was truly outstanding. Our server was fantastic. I literally had the best top sirloin steak I've ever had before, and I have lived in major cities where no one could top this. Let's start with the service. My girlfriend and her father and I walked in at 6:40 pm. We had to find our own way to the dining room (entered through the bar) and ended up having to figure out the waiting/line situation - there was no hostess, no check in process, nothing. Multiple employees passed multiple times, without saying a word to the people waiting - over 15 people in the cramped waiting area. At about 6:50 pm, a table of 12 was called from the waiting area. Another thirty minutes and a dozen employees passed by and finally an employee stopped to ask the party in front of us how many people they were. 7:30 pm rolls around and the party of four ahead of us gets seated. A couple came in behind us and seemed to know the employees - he and his gf were greeted by various employees and were told they could be seated in about 5 mins. At that point, a worker finally stopped to talk to me and ask how many in my party. We were told about a 15-20 min wait. 7:40 pm and the part of two BEHIND us gets seated (at a table which could accommodate 4). Finally, at 8 pm we got seated, nearly an hour and a half after entering the establishment. 9 pm hit and we finally got our entrees. One sea bass entree, and two NYE surf & turf specials (12 oz ribeye and 6 oz lobster tail. The sea bass was decent and the mango salsa was the star of the dish. The mac & cheese side and the lobster tails were probably the best parts of the meal. One ribeye was rare and the other was medium....both were requested to be medium rare. The steaks had decent grill marks but were grey otherwise. I would say the food is decent and steaks are maybe a step above a Sizzler. The ONLY reason this restaurant is getting 1 star is because the food was decent. If not for that, I would've given 0 stars. We definitely won't be visiting here ever again. read more

We had similar experience as many of the previous reviews. The service was horrible!! We waited and waited which was weird because there were people at two other tables but they were done. There were two waitresses. Just a lot of talking and laughing going on in the kitchen. Once we ordered it was another long wait for the soup and salad. Again nobody but us in the restaurant. Our dinner came and my steak was rare. Still mooing. I waited for a waitress to come, but 15 minutes passed and nobody came out of the kitchen so I took the steak to the kitchen entrance myself. The food was okay... nothing great. We did not even get our water refilled until we were ready to leave. Very disappointed. We will not be going back. read more

We used to be regulars here. We stopped coming in on Monday nights because the mother of the owner is very mean and unwelcoming. Recently, she was there working on a Wednesday so there is another day we're afraid to dine there. It seems like she is there on her days off as well yelling at people. It's very disappointing but I think we have to stop coming there. We will come back if she is not there but in the meantime, the owners mother with the small dog in the stroller, is extremely rude and creates an uncomfortable environment. read more

What's funny is that I got a friend request from her on FB that next day because she recognized me from Hermosa Beach. Her dad and I have been friends for years. Small world! The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered a tri tip fettuccine, the sauce was delicious, noodles cooked perfectly and the tri tip was incredible. My son had a kids burger and seemed to really like it as well. The service was honestly disappointing. I walked into the bar where I was met with stares from employees. Finally one told me the dining was upstairs. Once there another server didn't say a word to me and headed downstairs and didn't appear again for 10 min. We also didn't get our drinks refilled until I flagged the server down and ask. I'd be more understanding if it had been busy but there were only 2 other tables. Don't host your wedding after party here! We just had our wedding in Lake Arrowhead and it was an absolute dream all the way up to our "after party". Ricky was a nice enough guy when trying to help host the after party but every time we would talk, the details of the party would change. He initially promised there would be karaoke and the kitchen would be open BUT over the next couple weeks he would keep asking me about karaoke numerous times (every time I said yes) and then after offering it as part of the deal initially, he asked me to split it with him. THEN when we arrive after our wedding, our guest all let us know that the KITCHEN IS CLOSED and there is NO KARAOKE. With no kitchen or karaoke we are stuck in a simple bar with nothing to do. We could have just stayed at home. He then offered a tiny discount and expected us to meet his high minimum even though we didn't want to stick around long because our houses would be a better spot than this. I don't usually write reviews but honestly I feel a bit scammed so I wouldn't want anyone to have to deal with this after their wedding. read more

We sat on the open patio on a beautiful week day evening. We'd heard they had a hamburger special on Tuesday so we didn't even bother looking at the menu. Hamburger, fries and beverage for $6.99!! I don't think you can do that price at McDonalds. I really appreciated the portions, they weren't huge and I didn't feel gross afterwards. The french fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and not too thick... my favorite. My only criticism was it did feel like it took longer than normal for food to arrive, and considering we were one of only two or three tables, it seemed very slow. But we had no where else to be that evening, and it was a warm, pleasant evening on their patio watching the sunset over the parking lot. Ha ha. I would definitely go back. We've been coming to RB's for many years and it's one of the few reliably good restaurants, on the mountain, that have held onto a "good quality at fair prices" policy. A bit of well chosen wall paper in the dingy bar would be money well spent and the dining room is boringly basic. A little bit of paint or wall paper would fix the blah feeling of the spaces. But the good quality and generous food portions makes this a worthy place to frequent. The chef is definitely doing a good job of keeping the quality up. Whether it's half price appetizers, taco night or the prime rib special, this is a great place for friends and family to enjoy a fun and affordable night out. read more
