The ground is horrific, the surface of the moon is better! I recently suffered a mugging in the car park, slap bang in the centre of the car park, directly under the flood light and camera. They were impossible to get in contact with regarding the incident as the car park is said to be owned by 4 different companies, once we got ahold of the owners with help from the investigating officers we got three different stories regarding the CCTV. First they said they couldn't see the incident (I have a bright blue car and was in the middle of the car park, you would have to be Stevie Wonder to not see the incident), the second time we contacted them they said there isn't any cameras? There is. And the third time they said the footage from that time was corrupted, even though the first time they looked it was fine. Plus the company has a fake office address, screams dodgy!! AVOID!!!

The staff who work in there are friendly and helpful, although there is one chap who insists on asking every time whether or not I would like a Post Office credit card. Still, he does it with a cheeky smile on his face and so I can forgive him for trying - just. They don't have anything especially exciting but they function as a perfectly reasonable Post Office, with helpful friendly staff. They are worth the mention purely as an alternative to the larger one in town!

Over lunch time, when everyone is rushing during their lunch break, they had only two people serving when there were about twenty people queueing. Now that post offices deal with so many other enquiries like paying bills, banking & checking forms for passports etc, a transaction at the counter can take so much longer than simply buying stamps. Today was no exception & one of the two servers got embroiled in a tricky issue, leaving just poor cashier #5 to try to get the queue moving. It took about 20 minutes (and once I'd got to the front of the queue, typically!) for them to bring out three extra staff onto the counters to deal with the ever-growing line of impatient people clutching various letters & parcels. However, when I did finally get served, the lady was lovely, apologetic & swift, so that did make up for the wait a little. They do have two self-service machines if you're just looking to post simple packages (UK or international) though one of the machines wasn't working on my visit so there was a queue there too. In general, this post office seems to have a good array of products - all the usual envelopes, packages, etc for purchase, & a photo booth. But perhaps it might be worth going at an off-peak time if you can!

The cars were crammed in an I imagine its a great place to get your car bumped or the painted work scratched. No sure of the day rates for parking but over night it cost us a tenner which I didn't think was too bad really. The guy manning the car park was really helpful and explained all the car park rules to us clearly about when you could gain access to your car overnight. Handy and safe place to leave your car.

Plus: it's a car park, so who cares? £5.50 all day during the week, £3 all day on Saturday, £1 an hour Monday - Saturday, £1 all day Sunday. It's about a five minute walk from the shopping, but I think the extra distance is well worth it to not face £12 in parking fees from NCP. The only real downside is the fact that Total Parking doesn't stay open very late. It closes between 7pm and 9pm depending on the day, so check with them before you park up.

The historic Center of York is easily walkable. But as a major town, York is popular and the fees for parking on the higher side. As one would expect. We checked online before and weren't surprised when we arrived. We wanted a prime parking location - and we were ready to pay prime fees. For a few hours you get close to 20£. All-day parking sets you back 22.50£ (summer 2025). Which I thought is still ok. In my country you'll pay more. Of course, compared to some other towns (e.g. Oxford) the prices are definitely higher here. But for the whole experience: Shopping, some nice food and great sights it was a fair deal. The car is safe here, the spaces pretty big, no problems for larger vehicles. You pay by app, credit card or even coins (not on all machines though, but there are several). Surely would park here again.

The service is good for an off airport car park, but they are not much cheaper than the main on site airport car park and I think Sentinel have a few downsides: They have your car keys and move your car around their car park whilst you are away (they shuffle the spaces). During the summer there were very long queues waiting for their little buses - as everyone arrives at once! otherwise though an okay service.
