I am so glad I finally got my real id at this location after all the rush and craziness last year. The lines are short , staff extremely polite and efficient. I have new respect for government employees. Great location for any body looking to get their real id .

Avoid Mondays and Fridays. I came on Tuesday afternoon about 2pm, almost no line. Do research and be prepared or bring all acceptable and requied documentation. The REAL ID costs $6.

This is a very efficient place even if it's not beautiful or modern or comfortable. But it has what you need to get your official IDs. Mainly it's just for the Real ID and both non drivers license and drivers license Real ID. The one w the good start you had to get since May 2025 to travel. The security guard today on July 29, 2025 was very sweet and kind. I really appreciate him. The staff were also friendly and kind And answer my questions Wow, a place in Chicago that does not require an appointment and opens at 7:30 in the morning during weekdays. if you wanna get a non drivers license Real ID or get your drivers license Real ID you don't have to make an appointment. you get a temporary ID the same day and they will send you the actual ID in the mail. It is accessible by walking train and bus, and the CTA line is directly basically next to the supercenter where you can get the CTA subway or El lines to. Clark/Lake. The office is on Clark Street and between Randolph Street and Lake Street.

Late in the day at the Real ID Supercenter. Super!

Everything was well organized. I got there at 7:30 am and all the lines flowed effortlessly. I was out of there by 8:15am.

There's not much they can do about this. All windows were open for processing, even ancillary booths that don't have numbers. All workers with the exception of one were extremely friendly and helpful. Total time from queueing in line to finish: 2.5 hrs Arrived at 6:50 am. Already 150 people ahead of me. Finished at 9:20 am. Here's the process: FOR license / ID: -line starts on SE side of the building, loops around the front sidewalk, and goes to the rear of the building -workers will inquire your needs and validate documentation while outside in line -once inside, photo and identity is taken -then residency and ID needs brokered at separate counter -pay cashier in separate line -move window over to receive temp license -done :) receive new license in mail in 3 weeks FOR vehicle registration: -line starts at back of building -cannot speak to specifics as I was grabbing a real ID only Tips: -be patient. Read a book, watch a show, listen to music -review all required documentation online before arrival -organize all documentation with paper clips / sticky notes per grouping (signature, DOB SSN, residency). Multiple workers will request specific items along the way. An out of state license (signature), passport (DOB), social security card (SSN), voters registration card (residency) and bank/mortgage statement (residency) are what I used for switching my license from MI to IL real ID -test is waived for out of state licenses if your current license is still valid (not expired) -bundle up if it's winter. You'll likely spend hours outside -get there early. By the time I left at 9:20, the line was around 250 people long -bring a lawn chair if you'd like to sit while in line

Isabel Salcedo, you are the best!…read more I have been to this office several times and have not always been met with a pleasant demeanor and a smile. I was dreading getting a vehicle sticker (for my new car) and actually pondered just ordering it online so I did not have to deal with anyone. I happened to be going downtown today and thought, what the heck, let's make a trip to the City Clerk as a part of my early lunch break. I arrived just after 11:15AM and there were only a few people in line. I went up to the counter and explained to Isabel that I needed a new City sticker but also that I had one on my previous car but had forgotten to grab it when I turned it in. She explained that I could do the sticker transfer option (at a MUCH lower cost) since I still had about a year left on my current sticker, and explained to me all the documents I needed. I did not have everything readily available and she was super patient with me and made sure to be clear and helpful along the way. After a bit of fumbling and finding what I needed I was able to walk out with everything I needed! Isabel was personable and made conversation with me, noting it was my birthday this week and asking if I had plans for the big day. She asked about my holiday plans and wished me a happy holiday season. It was nice to talk with her and I only wish every person working in client service were that great to work with. It's kind of crazy to say it, but she really did make my day, and I am really glad I stopped in. Thank you!!

The gentleman at the door let me go in early, got my number, had my photo taken by a sweet older man, whose wife was also named Joanna. He told me to smile for the photo. Then my number was called before I barely left that area, took the eye exam, answered a few questions, signed paperwork and was out the door 13 minutes later. The staff there was friendly, what a lovely experience!

When I arrived, there were a group of 6-8 employees outside chatting. For all I knew, they were on a break or something. So, I walked inside and one of them flagged me down and asked if I had been checked in already. Checked in? By who? Apparently, one of the outside employees does your initial check in, but based on how they were gathered outside, you wouldn't have known at all. You need to have your confirmation email or text and then they allow you inside. My second stop was at the front desk. A woman (whose name I don't know, but she had bright turquoise hair) was very friendly and kept the process going smoothly. Next, I had to get a photo taken and then wait for my number to be called. The staff at the photo area are really friendly! I can't say the staff at the numbered stations are particularly nice, at least not the one I dealt with. When I was taking the vision test, the entire left side of the vision test display was blurry. Likely a broken machine, because they look older than dirt. The woman at the counter kept yelling at me about being "slapped with more restrictions". I ended up using the machine at the adjacent station and it worked perfectly. Equipment does break and it does fail. Please check your equipment before hocking your snotty attitude at people. Luckily, this is something I have to do once every 4 years. I would not recommend this location at all.

Most of the helpful information I also found online from other reviewers, so I wanted to also help out anyone in my situation! If you are looing for driver ID services, you absolutely must make an appointment. Additional day-of appointments open up at 6:30am every morning, and be careful to check online for DMV services closest to you. If you are only completing title and registration (like I was), you can proceed directly to the door marked "Vehicle Services" without any prior appointment. A reviewer online advised to go in the middle of the day to avoid the before and after work rush. There were maybe two or three people ahead of me who were quickly helped. I would advise getting most of the paperwork out of the way by using the DMV Electronic Registration and Title (ERT) System to complete and print an Application for Vehicle Transaction(s) (VSD 190) online. This will also take care of any tax documents you'll need in the process. The employee at the very front asked to see both my title and this tax document prior to heading to the revenue department in the back. Here, they took care of a few stamps, and I headed straight to audit. The audit section looked over my VSD and required documents (primarily my title and Driver's ID, but I brought my registration from out of state just in case). Everything checked out just fine! At the very end, I was sent to the cashier to pay for plates and a new sticker. I paid with card with a fee, but you can also write a check if you prefer to avoid the fee. The whole process was extremely straightforward. Just double check the website to ensure you have all the documents you need prior to heading in. Print all needed documents! From the parking lot to plates in hand, the whole process took maybe 30 minutes total. Highly recommend going in at off hours.
