Saturday night around 6 pm, went to dine aline without reservation. Was quickly seated with attentive waiter. View of water was quite nice. Initially waiter promoted and appetizer, then realized it could be a whole entree for one person: his ultimate recommendation was absolutely stellar (crab cake). The Caesar add-on salad was okay: original U was told was warned about large up charge but was put in as a sub so okay. Broiled scallop entre was fine although scallops were small and all the sauce was overwhelming. Waiter apologized for ver slow kitchen (slowness was puzzling because restaurant was far from filled up). My mocktails arrived slowly and was clear bartender had simply thrown stuff in glass without muffling or attention. The $90 bill was shocking as I expected more like $75. Went for the 4th of July buffet. Everything was great and tasty except the buffet was not well stocked. They ran of out of items before the whole group ate. Some items were not restocked. Stop. Just don't go here. First, the staff was nice and the location is great on the river. But if your goal is the food, skip this place. Stopped for lunch at a mostly empty restaurant on Labor Day. My daughters ordered crab cakes and glazed salmon. Both were average at best. My wife and I were not that hungry and asked to split a medium rare classic burger. The first time it arrived it was well done and had no lettuce or tomato as described on menu. I sent it back asking for it to be cooked properly with the accompaniments. It arrived well done again and still no lettuce or tomato. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I checked the menu again which confirmed my expectations but apparently we were supposed to get Cole slaw too. It's like they had never prepared this before in the kitchen. Hard pass. Maybe the most disappointing $75 lunch ever. read more

Our waiter is the reason we have this a three star, otherwise it would have been lower. My wife ordered the fish dinner and it was way overcooked, I ordered oysters and clam chowder. I think it was as bad of a chowder as I ever had. The soup was very thin and the clams were rubbery and the ham pieces were tough. Excellent sea bass! But they served it with dry, absolutely zero seasoning, white rice. Maybe a bit of butter, lime and cilantro? The So dry could not eat it. The fresh cooked spinach with it was delicious! Hubby had Tuna. Barely seared and stone cold?? Nah... we cook enough tuna steaks - you sear it hot and fast, but enough so that the center is warm. My husband and I were from out of town and we decided to try the Real Seafood Co. for our Anniversary dinner. It was an excellent choice!! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Connor was our server and he was outstanding!! He was very helpful when we were choosing our meals. I got the the Scallops with Bourbon Bacon Jam and my husband got the Walleye. So DeliciousThey have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to dine in and enjoy this beautiful restaurant, but we did step outside on the patio after dinner to check out the river view and gorgeous sunset. We even got asked by one of the servers if we wanted our picture taken, and then another one asked also lol!! Everyone one was so very nice. The GM also stopped by our table to check on us and we had a great conversation with him. We highly recommend Real Seafood Co. in Bay City, MI and definitely will come back. Had to sit at the outdoor bar because they would not seat a party of 1 at a patio table. After 15 minutes of not being acknowledged, I walked up to a waiter to ask for service. This was especially frustrating because there were so many empty tables outside that I could've sat at and been immediately served. The waitress finally came over and seemed mad at me for sitting at the bar. I ordered 6 oysters. It took 25 minutes for the oysters to come out. The Real Seafood Company in Bay City is a favorite place for my wife and I to have a very nice dinner and night out. We are there about once a month and have tried almost of the menu "main" and seasonal menu items when they come around. It's the best buisness casual + dining experience in the area. I'll be back to real seafood a few times since my initial review and the Food has consistently gotten better. The Seabass is spectacular. Restaurant is beautiful sitting right on the water. The specialty cocktails are excellent. It's not a pricey restaurant in comparison to places in larger metro areas, but it is a bit pricey for Bay City. We sat outside. No one warned us about the yellow jackets, (bees) The bees were in our food, we couldn't eat it or take it home with us. You should find the bee nest and have someone spray it at night or else, don't allow people to eat outside. read more

We've waited months to post this review- We use to be regulars - enjoying cocktails & apps on a weekly basis and then an occasional dinner at least a few times per month. Our family of four plus a couple dates have gone for Christmas Eve dinners every year since this location opened. This past Christmas Eve there was literally almost everything wrong with our dinners. Our filets were over cooked & chewy, our shrimp were over cooked/chewy and could have put a hole in the wall if thrown at it & our lobster tails were served cold after they had been over cooked too! With tip, our meal was $650! I called & spoke with the manager & general manager the next day about our awful experience. The general manager was apologetic & offered us a $100 gift card to help make up for it. We are STILL waiting for that gift card!!! They don't care we were regulars & had spent hundreds & hundreds of dollars-- they don't care our entire meal on Christmas Eve was awful. They have lost our business & now we tell all of our friends & anyone else who will listen, not to go. read more

My wife's family has been coming here for years and it became an annual tradition for birthday gathering. We decided to have a small wedding reception here with about 20 people and Real Seafood did a fantastic job at accommodating us. We wanted a nice dinner within easy walking distance from our hotel. After weighing our options and reading some reviews we made a reservation for two. As soon as we arrived we were seated. We requested an outside table by the water. It was perfect, nice view and quiet setting. Our waitress Jen was awesome; super attentive and quick with water & delicious bread. Food was good, my steak was a tad overdone but not enough to send it back. Everything came out quickly after we ordered. Jen even obliged with a move inside for birthday dessert after the sun went down and the mosquitos made an appetizer out of my ankles. After we cashed out and started to leave we decided to have a night cap at the bar. The bartenders cocktail skills were on point and she even changed the channel to let us catch the rest of the football game. We will definitely be back when we visit Bay City again. read more

Drove up to have dinner on a recommendation from a friend... We were lucky enough to get a reservation outside right on the water which had a great view with the sunset. Wait staff was very friendly and presented all options on and off the menu. They don't have a great draft selection but their bottled beer selection was decent. I don't love the wines they offer, all to sweet for me, the Whites but selection is large and they have a variety of cocktails as well. Pricing on the menu is fairly decent. My hubby had the fettuccine with scallops and shrimp It was pretty good he thought. Scallops and shrimp were both cooked perfectly. Finished off dinner with a key lime pie which was a bit of a disappointment due to the fact that it didn't have that great lime tartness you would expect from key Lime Pie. I had a salad with Chicken and shrimp, nothing that special. Mainstreet Venture restaurants usually work well with allergies. Unfortunately they don't have a lot of options and most of the proteins are marinated which doesn't help matters. They also ended up serving me protein that was marinated in garlic despite my telling them my allergies, garlic being one. My server even had checked with the manager and the kitchen. Sure the manager apologized and corrected things but that didn't help me not get sick. So be extra careful if you have any food allergies. Food was excellent! We had two couples and three of us ordered the Parmesan Encrusted Flounder. So very flavorful. Perfectly prepared. Justin was our server and did an outstanding job, very attentive, polite, and professional. He was fun to chit chat with he came back to our table just the right amount of time to check on our drinks, fill water glasses, and to see if we needed anything. One of my favorite dishes to order wherever I go is the risotto preferred with seafood. Unfortunately, my risotto was dry and was lacking the creaminess I adore. The seafood in the dish was tasty. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the gnats...it's a real issue that needs to be fixed. Atmosphere: Very beautiful restaurant right at the edge of the water. The establishment gives off $$$ vibes and I'd say they mainly lived up to it. Given that I came for an event of almost 40 people, I think the 2 servers did a fine job. Yes, they did mess up some drink and dinner orders, but they were very apologetic and fixed the issues immediately. I would like to see the service as a regular guest to truly evaluate it. Food: Our dinner came with 2 drinks, a table appetizer, a salad, entree and dessert. The Malbec was a winner, as it typically is. I was able to sub my salad for the Lobster Bisque and it was a wonderful choice; very creamy and well flavored with a decent amount of lobster. I ordered the Crab Cakes for my entree and I was pleasantly surprised. They were exactly like I like them, plump, not too much breading, and flavorful; they could use more sauce though. The asparagus and mashed potatoes were also very good! Finally, the homemade Cheesecake was out of site! You could tell it was an original. **Again, the gnats. We seem to go for the crab cakes and brussel sprouts as a staple. This last visit we had oysters, Brussels, salad, clam chowder, pecan crusted chicken and salmon. The oysters were lovely. The salmon is flavored wonderfully and very flaky. The pecan crusted chicken was a 10 and the portion is huge! Oh, and if you save room for dessert, the flourless chocolate cake is the bomb. My husband and I have been here a couple times before and had a great experience every time. This time we went for our anniversary, they seated us upstairs, we ordered from their limited "covid" menu, but they did allow us to add on to our meals(that wasn't on the menu). The waitress checked on us several times throughout the meal, and asked what we were celebrating, she made it a point to wish us a happy anniversary several times.
