His examination manner was always thorough, both manual and with ultrasound, his explanations comprehensive and quite understandable, and his good-humored attitude ever a pleasure. His offices were plainly furnished, clean , (not dingy at all!), and his support staff friendly and clear in their communications. By contrast, a urologist in Bayonne who shall remain nameless was brisk in manner, and did only manual examinations, and unlike Stedman, neither he nor his staff did not adequately pursue the formulary exception my part D insurer demanded for my atypical BPH medication (this task fell to my PCP during that year's 'never again' 2nd encounter in Bayonne and subsequent months). The news that Dr. Stedman has retired from practice was disappointing, though as I've only the best of memories, and much respect for this man who brought excellent care for heaven knows how many men, including myself, a retired research assistant (in neurophysiology), and it's over one half century since he graduated medical school, this is one report I'm most pleased to post !

Knowledgable doctor and known for his clinical skill according to other healthcare professionals…read more He seems thorough and exacting in his approach. He appears to be clinically decisive. Tends to be late and behind with appointments so expect to wait up to an hour. He has no office nurse but does have a friendly receptionist. His office is outdated, dingy and looks like something out of an eastern block nation. He was however negligent with post surgical follow up. He never saw me face to face saying "it wasn't necessary" instead he relied on me to follow up over the phone as needed. After 6 weeks he determined (again over the phone) that my condition wasn't better from the surgery and I'd have to just live with what appeared to be a non functioning urinary tract. I obtained a second opinion immediately after this. The new surgeon discovered the real problem I was having and after a minor surgical intervention I was restored to normal functioning. The problem I was having was not complex and in fact was reported to be common and yet Dr. Stedman did not see the real cause and thus his treatment plan caused me three ER visits, another unnecessary surgery and weeks of pain and suffering. Due to the fact I've recovered fully with no longer term damage there is no point in litigating this.
