When I got back home, I could not call or text and the phone said no service. I immediately sent a message to the Facebook Phone Booth page to let them know, and an admin of the site replied that they would be glad to look at it. However, the next day, when I went to The Phone Booth again, they were not busy and there were no other customers being waited on. I asked the same boy who had worked on it the day before to please look and see if he left anything unhooked, or see if anything had come unhooked, but he refused - and rudely! I asked several times, practically pleaded with him to just check, but he told me he did not care and that it was my problem. I have been doing business with them for longer than I even know to say. I have bought countless accessories and bought all my plans through them. The phone he messed up had just been in their shop two weeks earlier having brand new screens put in. Needing my phone fixed, I took it to the AT&T store in Poplar Bluff. They took one look at it and said that he had messed up my power button. I returned home and messaged the owner, thinking this long time friend of mine and store owner might be concerned as to how I was treated and the service I had (not) received. He did not even bother to respond to my message. I knew that he had seen the message and ignored it though, thanks to Facebook's handy features. I would not recommend this business to anyone. They will gladly take your money but there is no customer service after the sale. Cell phones are just too expensive to trust to smart mouthed teenage boys who do not know or CARE what they are doing. Additionally, I expect to be treated with respect when I have spent so much money is a place of business. Lastly, I expect my issues to be handled with some small hint of concern rather than be ignored. This is a small town, and eventually, small businesses who cannot or will not exercise good customer service will not survive. I will make sure to tell others how I was treated because iPhones, or any smartphones, are anything but cheap. We work hard for every dollar. I will never trust my phone to any such place like that again.

I took the phone back in and it was replaced, as expected, at no cost. Six weeks later my screen started to develope the same problem the other had in four days. It started turning black. I took it back again and was told that their supplier had refused a warranty on the first one so this one was my problem. When I pay 300.00+ dollars to get a phone fixed I don't expect the repair center to tell me they have problems getting their supplier to honor a warranty for them and it's now my problem. We had the great pleasure of the one on one demonstration by the blacksmith. This takes you back in time watching this process. While we were there the blacksmith was in the middle of making a fish from a horse shoe. He demonstrated the different steps to making a piece. He showed us the different pieces made (which some are available for purchase), some very unique. The tools of Tom Kennon was donated to the homestead. Tom Kennon passed at the age of 104! He worked with his tools until he was 96 years in 1980. To see his tools still being used to this day is in awe. You must come watch the blacksmith at work. You will find the tools of the trade displayed on the shop walls. A must see!

I was in Poplar Bluff visiting a friend who recently moved to town for work. When I travel, no…read morematter how small the place I visit, I like to get a feel for the locale and its history. The Railroad Museum did not disappoint. As soon as we entered the museum we were greeted by a friendly older gentleman who introduced himself and explained that he started this museum about 15 years ago when he retired from working for the railroad after 42 years. This place is clearly his baby. It's a very thorough collection of railroad artifacts and local photos (my favorite being the 19th century photo showing the overturned circus train and all the loose circus animals running around town). It definitely gives you a good sense of place and what was going on in southeast Missouri during a different era. In the back of the museum is a large room with a huge model train set with multiple trains running on it. I couldn't help myself...as soon as I walked in I squealed with delight. Wouldn't you? The Museum also features a gift shop with lots of toy trains and other train related products. Santa Claus was in the gift shop that day visiting with the local children who were stopping by to tell him their Christmas wishes. Very, very cute. If you're in the area and looking for something to do, pay a visit. And don't miss the old train cars out front, including a real caboose, that you can go inside and visit.
