This was a mixed bag kind of experience. The good: The food was all consistently tasty. Loved the kimchi smashburger. It does not need the crispy ramen topper, but whatever. The creamy whipped feta was chefs kiss. The not so good: Two attempts with completely flat no carbonation diet coke. Host tried to seat us at a tiny bar hi top table when booths were available...when we had made a reservation a week prior. Had to bargain to be seated at a real table. Service was friendly but very inattentive - no water refill, did not check in on us, etc.

This place was such a hidden gem. The bao bun was absolutely amazing! The flavor was insane. The ribs and crème brûlée was also delicious. The only thing we didn't particularly care for was the steak, but everything else knocked it out the park. Our waiter was great and all his suggestions were on point. We can't wait to go back and try the smash burger. This is a great place to just pop in and enjoy.

Food: very creative and unique, we started with the Szechuan spare ribs, it's got a brown sugar dry rub on there. There's some spice that comes through from the togarashi, I would say it's a pretty balanced bite. I got the hot chicken bao and the Peruvian chicken bao. Both were very good. Service: we came in on a Monday evening, so it wasn't busy. Everything was quick and our server checked in on us numerous times, we were always taken care of. I like when they can make recommendations and they did not disappoint. Ambiance: beautiful restaurant, very modern and clean. It's a warm and intimate setting. There are only a handful of parking spots in their own lot but a good amount of parking nearby.

Hands down the best food I have had in a long time. Utterly delicious. Went once last week and returned this weekend bc I couldn't stop thinking about the food and wanted my husband to try! First time I ordered Peruvian Bao Bun and tomato soup with literally the best grilled cheese I have ever had. Loved the miso base for the soup. Super cute to serve in soup can style bowl. Bun was amazing! Came back second time and ordered same but also the Szechuan spare ribs app. INCREDIBLE. Fall Off bone. Super tasty with perfect seasoning and the salad it was served on was sooo good. Service was great both times. And the little Grandmas living room waiting area or to sip a drink is clever. This is 10/10. Must go.

I was a huge fan of Vigilante and sad when I heard it closed, so I was super excited to try out Red & The Wolf and was happy to see a similar vibe of the menu made it over, while committed to a fun theme! There's plenty of space inside, we ended up still making reservations, but it wasn't too busy during dinner (we did go on a pretty snowy evening though). There's a small parking lot for the restaurant or just general street parking. The theme and decor of the restaurant was super fun, starting with an awesome mural out front and a fun seating area inside. For our starters, I ordered a bao burger, elotes salad, and the tomato + red pepper soup. I loved the presentation of the soup and it was probably my favorite dish of the night. We ordered the roasted red pepper arrabbiata with chicken as our main, which was good, but nothing special. We ended with the black forest bread pudding, which was amazing, tons of flavor. Also, I just wanted to shout out the amazing service, and the bartender! They were able to customize some really great mocktails just based on our flavor preferences, which was really cool! I would definitely recommend for a date night or fun night out!

We went here on a whim on a cold, winter Saturday night and the place was popping. There was a wait for tables, but there were seats available at the bar, so we just parked ourselves there. Yelp has this place classified as a Chinese restaurant, but that is a bit of an overstatement. They definitely have some Asian inspired fare, but the menu covers a lot of different territory. We each ordered the Bao Burger to start. It was a unique mix of flavors and we really liked that. We followed that with the Elotes Caesar Salad which was fantastic. I'm not sure which ingredient gave it that tasty crunch, but it was very good. Then things got interesting... We wanted to try one of the naan flatbreads, but were told that they did not have any naan ready so it might be a little while. We had eaten our first two items so we were OK waiting for a while, but then we waited..and waited...and waited. I'm not sure how long it was before it was announced that the naan was available, but it seems like a solid 45 minutes, if nor more...and then we had to wait for them to actually prep it. The naan flatbreads are approximately a quarter of the menu, so it seemed crazy to not have any available on a Saturday night. We were extremely patient and didn't share our frustration on the bartender, who seemed equally frustrated. So, was it worth the wait? We had the Peruvian Chicken Naan Flatbread and, yes, it was quite tasty! One last comment: as I mentioned, it was a cold, winter night and according to my wife, the ladies restroom was unbearable cold. She was in there doing her thing as quickly as she could when another customer walked in and promptly screamed "OMG, it;s like the F#*@! Arctic Circle in here!"...so that gives you an idea of something else that probably needs to be addressed.

On our first visit, Maddy, our server, and Daniel, the manager, were both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely caring, which immediately set a great tone for the experience. Service felt attentive without being overbearing--always appreciated. I'd heard positive buzz about their plant-based options and finally decided to check it out. The convenience of a dedicated parking lot was a nice bonus, and the location doesn't hurt either--just steps away from my favorite local distillery. They were unfortunately out of the lion's mane steak (the main reason we came), but that just gives us an excuse to return. Instead, we tried the bao buns and chick'n tenders. It appears they use Daring and Beyond products, which we enjoy. The cauliflower appetizer isn't vegan, so we skipped it. Overall, the food was flavorful and satisfying, though portions felt a bit on the smaller side--especially considering we ordered mostly apps. Prices are slightly high in my opinion, but the quality was there. The cocktail menu also caught my attention, especially seeing Weiss spirits featured in several drinks. It's a strong start, and I'm looking forward to watching both the food and cocktail menus continue to evolve. We'll definitely be back to explore more.

Came to check out Red and the Wolf during a Friday for their brunch. I have to say walking in the decor is very creative with lost of cute touches. The seating is plentiful as the restaurant is quite large. As for the brunch menu it was pretty different with lots of unique dishes such as breakfast bao buns sechwan chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy flatbread. I wish I was able to try more things but kept it simple with the goat cheese and mushroom omelette. The omelette was good but for the price tag would have been nice if it can with a piece of toast. The service was very attentive although the place was pretty empty. The one thing that I will say was a disappointment was the cocktails. They were very limited. My husband got the bloody Mary wich was simply just plain flavorless tomato juice, I'm pretty sure they forgot to put in the alcohol. I got an aperol spritz that came without champagne and was just aperol and soda water with a very high price tag. I would definitely check this place out again for dinner with friends to try more dishes.

Delightful newish restaurant. We were having problems finding restaurants open on Monday, so we ended up here. So glad we did. The cocktail menu is small, but creative using spirits from Weiss Distillery next door. The food was the star for me though! quite a number of vegan and vegetarian items that were clearly designed by someone who understands that making plant forward food means more than just subbing impossible burgers in for hamburgers. The Lion's Mane mushroom riblets were visually stunning and delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super helpful in choosing what to order. The decor could be described as cozy gothic. We did not order much because we had dinner plans but we definitely plan to go back.

UPDATE: Latest visit tried the Lion' Mane. This is absolutely a must try. The mushrooms are so meaty and th wine reduction they cook them in gives them such a phenominal taste. The paired asparagus and garlic mash are the perfect compliment.

New addition to Clawson food scene opened up by the very own Clawson residents husband and wife. We had a party of 10 on Sat the reservations were made ahead of time. I recommend making them they were busy. The ambiance is different from the usual decor red walls, red curtains and a separate room designed like grandma's house. They also had a dj playing some light music. Onto the food we had a few things to try. Smoked wings with buffalo sauce on the side. Szechuan hot chicken bao, Peruvian bao, Naan flatbread. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. They have a decent wine list and and make crafty cocktails, draft beer list is short almost all of it bottled, however if you into good german lager they have one on draft. Service was great and very attentive the only down thing was the wait time for the food, granted it was a big party. Would definitely come back and support local business.

The kitchen had someone call in so the wait was very long for food. We were sitting at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and apologetic for the wait. The drinks were good and when the food came we were very impressed. I would definitely go back. I had a Szechuan bao and a SOHO burger. I think they need to drop their flatbread menu and add a few additional bao options. I liked the restaurant but the parking was a challenge.

The food was delicious but they screwed up our reservation even after my husband went into the restaurant to discuss our needs. It's also extremely loud, so don't expect to have much conversation with your dinner companions. Probably won't go back. read more

I stopped in late on a Saturday night craving a burger. I ended up sitting at the bar and having a wonderful chat with one of the owners, Heaven. The ambiance is moody without being too dark, and this husband and wife owned joint is a great option for anything from a dinner with friends or family to solo dining or a date night. They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions (dairy free). Finding a dairy free burger is surprisingly hard, but I got a delicious smash burger on a DF bun with a vegan cheese option! This place has great food and really fair prices, and the burger held up really well even after a long drive home. I look forward to coming back and dining in person! read more

I "May" have said medium rare, not medium. But the chef, manager and waiter came to our table to make sure I was satisfied. They made sure i was happy and cooked the steak to liking, sent me home with a second one and a free desert for wife's birthday. On top of the unbelievable GREAT service, the food was Amazing. This is a really cool new place. Nick was our waiter and was absolutely amazing, if he didn't know the answer to a question about the food he would get the answer. I had a flatbread pizza with onions and mushrooms that was delicious but I kept wanting cranberries on it and the Nick told the chef and she countered with dried cranberries for the extra texture. Hoping next time we go it will be on the menu. we will definitely be repeat customers! read more

Was so excited to try, maybe a super disappointing experience. The flavors are unique, just not what I would like. The chicken was over cooked the crunchy noodles were burned. Just nothing I would want. But I'm sure someone loves it. And fries should be crispy not soft. read more

This was my third visit at the Red & the Wolf , strange name but absolutely beautiful. Modern with the classic decor . Great staff from the manager Daniel to Deric behind the bar and the chef that you can appreciate his professionalism from the second you walk in ! I have tried the Grilled Shrimp it was delicious, Peruvian chicken Bao even better, bao burger melts and today I tried the beurre noodles with grilled chicken that as simple as it sounds was definitely a great dish on this cold day. Definitely recommend ! read more

First time visiting this place last week and it was a disappointment. It looks real cool inside, but always a bad sign when you enter a restaurant that has no host and several servers congregated in the back area don't even notice you. I had to ask the bartender if we just seat ourselves, and they looked as puzzled as I was standing up there like a fool. The food itself was fine, but why- WHY??!- did the new owners decided to knock down the dividing wall between the booths and the kitchen? So I can overhear the servers talk trash about the customers they had issues with? Or to watch my food sit in the window for my server to finish watch his TikTok video?? I dunno what's going on in this place, but maybe y'all should've taken an extra week to find people who've worked in restaurants before. I'd like to give this place another chance but I honestly don't see it still being open by spring. This is a d*ck thing to say, but I'm interested in that big wolf/red riding painting to buy when you do close up shop. read more

Honestly- this place was a massive disappointment. I think the bartenders need to actually learn how to bartend rather than just focus on chatting it up. I came with a group a few weeks back and we were never greeted by the bartender or acknowledged. They were too busy talking to who I assume was a regular or clearly someone that had their full attention. When we decided to up and leave, the bartender said "thanks for coming by!" As if they didn't realize they hadn't even served us anything?? The decor above the bar is super corny... AI looking red riding hood... and after browsing the menu (since we were never served) it all looked very overpriced for what it is. I miss Zeolis. Sigh. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Truly was unique from the decor to the vibrant and well thought out menu. The Chef personally came out and talked to us after the meal, explaining his menu and what we ordered to a T. Service was prompt and super friendly. Brilliant use of diverse ingredients to create delicious entrees. The salads are fresh, generous and dressed well. Chef/owner friendly and more than willing to explain ingredients as well as process of the fabulous meal we enjoyed. The decor is fun,creative and warm. No big bad wolf at this joint! Definitely worth a stroll through the woods at Red & The Wolf. read more

The food was excellent. It was made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Since its made to order and not sitting in a pot waiting for the next patron like other restaurants, some menu items take a little bit longer, but well worth waiting for. They have many other menu items that require less prep time and are served quickly. If you want off the shelf fast food, go elsewhere. Ryan, the server was always on top of things, attentive, and anxious to please. The prices were in line with other restaurants in the area but Red & The Wolf have a more unique, exciting menu. They atmosphere was very comfortable and spacious to allow for comfortable seating and conversation. read more

Our server was great but the rest of the experience was subpar. We were asked by the hostess if we made a reservation (2 people) but per their site you can't make a reservation for parties if less than 8...confusing?!? The bar tenders were pure chaos. They acknowledged us when we first walked up but then completely ignored us....serving groups who walked up to the bar after us. The food was meh. If it was just service issues maybe I'd give it a second try but definitely not worth the 40 minute wait and being ignored. read more

We arrived thinking we had a google reservation, but through our own error, found out we did not. The staff could not have been more accommodating to our party. The food is delicious, the ribs and bao buns simply fantastic. One of the owners, Heaven, was just delightful to talk to and the kitchen appears to run smoothly. We will definitely return as our experience was a positive one. read more

The Brisket could have been a bit more tender and the portion was mostly flats and some shredded. The sweet mash had the smooth consistency and taste of sweet potato pie filling. I prefer it a bit chunkier, but it was so tasty, I really didn't mind much. The cornbread was moist and flavorful. While my order wasn't absolutely perfect, the food was tasty and satisfying.

I actually felt guilty checking in and seeing my old review because this place is back to being exactly why I loved it in the first place. The food at this restaurant is excellent! Everything we've ordered so far has been absolutely delicious. I especially loved the bao -- I tried the chicken bao while my wife went for the vegetarian version, and both were incredibly tasty. My wife also tried the roasted red pepper soup and was extremely impressed. My daughter ordered the Caesar salad and loved it as well. Any food lover should definitely give this place a try. The atmosphere shows the dedication and love that everyone puts forth to make this a once in a lifetime experience that will keep you coming back for more.
