Outside, there was plenty of room for dogs to stretch their legs, along with lots of shaded tables to relax. Their beer menu was extensive--almost too many options to choose from! They definitely lean into unique flavors, with offerings like a pickle margarita beer and a mango wheat that made for a fun tasting experience. While none of the beers ended up being favorites for us, we still enjoyed the atmosphere.

But I am very glad that I did. I do occasionally eat fish, so I did pick up a packet of smoked salmon. But it was also really pleased to see the variety of selection of non-meat products. If you were heading up north and needed stuff for charcuterie on the boat, you could definitely stop here. My colleagues had packed a cooler and bought an assortment of fresh and frozen meat, which they insisted some of the best in Minnesota. Given how much meat they like to eat, that's saying a lot. It's just off the highway when you're heading up on Highway 10. If you like meat or smoked fish you really should stop in.

They offer both a fridge for a grab and go deli sandwich or yogurt parfair, but also have a hot counter if you wanted a cheeseburger, chicken strips, or pizza. The owner and the help are friendly, and are really trying to keep this place a destination for both the locals and the weekenders. They were set up for trick or treaters tonight (Oct 31), and planning for a deer hunters give away for hunting opening, and have plans for a Ladies give away raffle in December. And more community events in the parking lot for next spring and summer. Wish them all the success a new business needs.

Meat I had to…read moreopportunity to be in in the Pierz area with a coworker and he suggested we stop off at Thielen since we were in the area and man, what a cool place. The smell of smoke is the first thing that hits you when you walk through the door to the place followed by the sight of all kinds and cuts of meat: Pork, beef, jerked, smoked, ground... the list goes on and on. Sort of like a Disneyworld of butchered meats. My coworker busied himself with his list of items he was looking for while I walked around the long butcher case with tons of freshly prepared meat items: sausages, ground meats, smoked meats, bacon... oh man I really wished I lived near this place. Since I was traveling and had no way to store these things, I settled for some pork jerky and took it home - it was amazing. These farm workers are good people who work local farms in order to provide food for local people... doing work which local people are unwilling to do. Lack of these workers would result in these farms failing followed by other losses of local businesses, likely including Irish's Place. All minority groups loathe seeing one of their own displaying uncivil behavior! That is why this Irish/Canadian girl is disgusted by the ignorant signage displayed in a window who's owner implies they themselves are Irish so would be former immigrants who were themselves very unwelcome and horribly treated by other Americans who were also immigrants though they had gotten there first, so felt they had the right to discriminate against the next person to come...just as this establishment is doing now. Think about it. Irish's Place should stop shaming their fellow Irish people and either get rid of their racist sign or change the name of their business.
