It's a really nice place interior wise. Too bad it was all empty. The theme is Indian food and cocktails, including breakfast options. The masala fries were my favourite. I thought they would be dry style with a masala powder, but they are lightly sauced and very tasty. The Hakka noodles were all right, but needed more noodles to get a good veg-noodle ratio. The Bhel puri was just OK, it needs a lot more sauce, more tamarind and coriander. Needs more tangy tang. Comes across as dry. All portion sizes surprisingly large. Food comes out quickly. The menu is more limited than most restaurants, but I think they have picked out a good selection. They have a drink called "Bloody Gandhi", their version of a bloody Mary, although the choice of name seems odd, don't know if it's supposed to be a pun that I wasn't getting. It's towards the end of the high street and near the train.

The owners claim dedication to the dying tradition of afternoon tea and they certainly have gone all out to maintain that unique British flavour that so many generic coffee shops have almost wiped out in London. Every detail, from the elegant crockery, the ornate homemade cakes and the rosy faced waitress, perfectly recreate a time when a nice cup of tea and a civilized chat was enough to fill an afternoon. Indeed, the atmosphere was so effective I wished I was going home to listen to the gramophone in front of a log fire. After worrying about the possible effects of drinking so much tea I left, content with the world and happy in the knowledge that there are still corners of London devoted to being a little bit British.

Decor is sweet and cutesy - not the kind of thing you'd expect would appeal to Harrow public schoolboys, but we did see a few. The muesli I had wasn't as exciting as it sounded on the menu and I was still hungry after but I loved the cakes we had as 'dessert'. The others mostly had fry-ups which looked pretty standard to me (shop-bought hashbrowns and sausages) but it was all presented beautifully. I'd almost definitely come back and buy some more cake (but probs not brunch). There was a funny moment when I dropped a ginseng tablet on a plate of brownies by the till and everyone looked suitably horrified til I explained what it was. The waitress took it well tho ;)

Nowadays we appreciate and build those bikes for the nostalgia and esthetic they bring to the table. The same can be said about Ace, it doesn't forget where it came from. The establishment feels as close as it would have back when it was originally operating. There's even a juke box in there (not sure if it works), but I doubt people still place bets if you can get to the next café before the song is over playing hahaha. The food is pretty decent, but I can only attest to the "quick bites" portion of the menu since I wasn't too hungry. I ordered the tuna sandwich with an iced coffee. They don't go well together, but I had to have coffee there! How can I go to ace café and not drink any of their coffee?! That's like saying you went to San Francisco and didn't visit the golden gate bridge. People were very kind and fun to converse with. No matter where you are the biker community is always friendly and that's what I can say about this place and their customers. They also host bike nights and events. I only wish that I could attend with a bike, but since they're stuck in the states I don't imagine that will happen any time soon. Ultimately I'm extremely happy I was able to go to the place that started café racers because those bikes are what got me into riding in the first place. I never would have thought I'd be able to visit, so you should too if you can!!

We got chatting to loads of bikers outside and one girl enthusiastically jumped on her bike to pose for me when she saw I had my camera with me. The Ace Cafe is THE motorcycle venue in London. The great thing about the Ace cafe is it's open 24 hours so when you are cruising about on your bike late at night you can always call in here for a coffee and meet some kindred spirits. The Ace Cafe website has a great archive of black and white photographs from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, which i love looking at. It's all about rock and roll and bikes really.

Had the following items: Pani Puri - It was fresh and ok but a little bland Chilli Garlic Mogo - Made from a tangy paste so not dry but I did enjoy the flavour. Veg Platter - A great selection and was a little spicy but some great items and would recommend this to any vegetarian. Chilli Chicken - had a similar taste to the Chilli Garlic Mogo as I suspect it was the same sauce but had some kick to it, but if you order chilli chicken what do you expect. Masala Papad and Fried Papad - Now I think they made a mistake and forgot to bring the fried one out but the Malasa one was nice served with diced onions and tomatoes with spices on top. For Drinks (Mocktails): Passion Punch - Great fresh taste and helped to cool off the spice from the Chilli chicken dish. Shirley Temple - Nice drink and something different but I did prefer the passion punch but I would recommend people do try both as they are both completely different. The bill came to £50.00 for us both and we had to take food away as there was too much for us to manage. The venue also has a space downstairs for private functions which I believe caters for around 50 guests and is priced per head between £22.50 - £25.00 per head but I am sure this is all negotiable. Family friendly and mixed crowd when we attended, a very pleasant place to take friends or family. Seating wise we were a little close to the booth next to us and the table was a little small for the food we ordered but to be honest the table we had which was for 2 people would be the same at any venue. The booths looked good so recommend you book these if you can. Thursday night and place was still filling up nicely. I would visit again and try some different dishes and will come and review again.... Service 5/5 - Excellent Food - 4/5 - Very Good Value - 3/5 - Average

As we walked in, we really enjoyed seeing the different seating areas and admired the cool decor - from the funny big pom poms to the nice candles on the tables to the hanging dried chillies. I liked the menu and was deciding between the burger, the ribs and the lime crusted salmon. My cousin is wheat- and dairy-free so was left with only the steak option, and then they informed her that they were out of rump steak. Her rib eye was fantastic, as were her sweet potato fries, but at a price. Her husband had the burger which he said was good. I enjoyed the salmon but was surprised that the noodles were served cold. I also had the house Bill's Beer brewed especially for Bills restaurants, but it had a bit of an interesting finish and didn't go great with the salmon although I had asked about it ahead of time. I really liked the ambiance and decorations, but the service and options were a bit limiting. The beers were served slowly but the food luckily came quickly. The burger's pot of chips were knocked over by the server when putting them down. The service was ok but not great, the prices were a bit high for the portion sizes, and generally the place was good but didn't blow us away.
