Apple Crisp Tart with Cinnamon Vanilla Ice Cream and Cranberry drizzle

T H A N K S G I V I N G Dinner - Superb We dined at Red Fish Hilton Head (one of our favorites HHI restaurants) for Thanksgiving dinner and it was a total success. We arrived early, parking was plentiful, and decided the enjoy cocktails at the bar before we were seated. Red Fish's house red (Bonanza) is very good, smooth, and wonderful flavors. Red Fish's Thanksgiving dinner is prix fixe ($78 for adults and $30 for kids) and a terrific value based on the large portions. We ordered our favorite white Viognier (Miner) for dinner. First course; Oysters Savannah (4 huge stuffed very filling oysters with shrimp, crab meat, bacon, and cheddar cheese) and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with charred salsa and Chipotle ranch - delicious. Second course; Autumn mixed greens salad with cranberries, pears, pumpkin seeds, and balsamic vinegar. Third course; Fresh roasted free range turkey with pan roast giblet gravy and Roast Black Angus Prime Rib with au jus and horseradish cream - both delicious and flavorful. All dinner entrees came with ALL the following sides; homemade Jalapeno cornbread (yum), French beans almondine, whipped Yukon potatoes, sage & sausage stuffing, and fennel roasted vegetables. Desert; Caramel Apple Cranberry Tart with brown sugar cinnamon ice cream - WOW! We were so stuffed we split the desert and took the other to go! Redfish staff is superb and boxed up all the delicious food we had leftover. What a amazing and delicious Thanksgiving dinner we enjoyed at Red Fish Hilton Head. Cheers.

Beautiful restaurant with great wine selection. Interesting menu and food was good. Plenty of veggie options too

We were disappointed -- quality's gone down since I last visited and service was subpar at best. My ahi tuna was drenched in an overly sweet sauce and didn't seem to be super fresh. Didn't help that we were seated at a tiny table and felt like the server was irritated if we asked her any questions.

    pearfection while enjoying live music

I normally don't review restaurants because food is so subjective. But after reading the last two reviews, I felt compelled to. My resort highly recommended this place, and I was not disappointed. I had my eye on the the red snapper, their signature dish, but I couldn't resist the pistachio crusted halibut. I grew up eating halibut, and I have to say, I have never eaten halibut like this, so well prepared with a broad pasta prima vera, and it just melted in your mouth. It wasn't over spiced, salty or anything objectionable - it was simply mouth watering. I am not a wine drinker, but the pearfection cocktail was amazing. Service by Marissa was also excellent, live music - what more can you want. I don't like to speak for others, but the lobster/shimp burger got rave reviews, as did the sweet potato french fries.

This was a great spot that I picked because of the dessert available. It was large space with a great patio and live music on Tuesday (not sure how often that happens). Our server was very kind and interacted with my nephew and the food was delicious.

Ok if you missed this restaurant you have missed the best on one Hilton Head Island!!! Staff was great, bartender were great and Christine at the Piano was the mist relaxing evening we have had in a long time. We are from ATL and this seafood restaurant beats them all.!!!!

Excellent fried green tomato salad, with Burracheese.

Service was very good, slowed when it started to fill up, it should be expected. Every dish that came out looked awesome. My husband got the flounder and it was absolutely perfection

Last night out in Hilton Head and we wanted to try some local seafood. Looked up Red Fish and decided to go. First we called in and made a reservation and the hostess was pleasant. The ambiance was warm and inviting. They had live music and wine decorated the entire place, it's beautiful. The food was great. The Chilean sea bass was great, full of flavor. The scallops melted in our mouths. I would say this is more of an adult environment, would come back but not planning on bringing the kids here!

We shared a bowl of the tomato soup which is served with creme fraiche. I'm not a fan of tomato soup, however I thought it was very tasty My friend had the crabcakes with sweet potato fries, which she enjoyed very much. The crabcakes are made with bluefin crabs, so they taste different then Maryland crabcakes. I had the shrimp and grits which is topped with kale and breaded and fried okra. It was delicious and there were plenty of shrimp. We were too full for dessert. Their choices looked great, creme brulee, They have a retail wine store within the restaurant.

    Blue Crab Dip

Wnt back to Redfish for the second time and while the food was good, it wasn't the 5 star experience we had on our first visit here. Last night we started with the blue crab dip which is served with tortilla chips & pressed cuban bread. The bread is extremely good with this dip - I prefer it over the tortilla chips. For our salads, hubs went with Caeser and I had the special salad - which was called the Orchard. It had apples, walnuts, dried berries and feta cheese over a spring mix. The dressing was good but not great. I selected one of the specials for my entree - parmesan crusted red snapper over pappardelle and roasted veggies in a butternut squash cream sauce. It was good but not excellent. Hubs went with the scallops which are served with lobster shrimp mac & cheese and asparagus w/prosciutto. He said the scallops were bland. I tasted the mac & cheese and would give it a 3.5. It was not as rich & creamy as I would have expected. Overall, the food was good and service was average...but for this type of restaurant I expect excellent food & great service. I would give them 3.5 stars for this visit but rounding up to 4 because they had live music last night, which was festive. Dinner for the 2 of us was around $146 (including tip) and we are doing "Dry January" so that included no alcohol! (Hubs had tea & I had Seltzer water.) We also skipped dessert.

The store also had some frozen options and there were some souvenirs. The guy at the counter was friendly. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars was the price. I just went to the local fresh fish market at Platt's in Myrtle Beach one month ago, and most prices here were almost DOUBLE what I paid there. My husband and I discussed that the rent is likely much higher on Hilton Head and they likely have a more affluent clientele that affords these prices. I got the cheapest options to take back to Charlotte in my cooler. I bought 1 lb of tuna ($23), 1 lb of XL shrimp ($16), and 20 of their $1 oysters in season. The gentleman generously gave me 24 oysters for $20. He also offered ice for my cooler. Customer service was excellent. I spoke with one of the regular customers while waiting in line and they highly recommended everything. I'm adding a photo of the tuna rice bowl I made. Ignore the fact that I overcooked it, it was my first time. However, the fish tasted excellent. I really liked the Asian cucumbers I made to go with it !

As we arrived here we were taken aback by just how pretty it is outside and although it's too cold to sit outside this would be a great place to come in nicer weather. There is dining outside and sometimes live music. Tonight the guys were good. I bet in season this place is mobbed. There is also plenty of on-site parking and other places to shop if you felt like doing so. We ordered a dozen of the oysters and they were the kind that I enjoyed last time we were down at Hilton head - St. James oysters. They are plump and juicy with a slight brine. Absolute perfection which was beautifully presented on the tray of ice. See my pics. We decided to share a bowl of the shrimp chowder and saying that it was fabulous is accurate. Hunks of tasty, local shrimp in a creamy base, put smiles on both of our faces. I ordered the Poké bowl which was full of high grade tuna accompanied by basmati rice, chopped cucumbers that felt like they just came out of the Earth, and edamame. They were lightly seasoned with wasabi aioli which was creamy and very gentle on the palate. My partner got the low country boil which he enjoyed because he loved the shrimp and the sausage with the potatoes being done to perfection. $5 HH domestics and good service added to the pleasurable experience.

All drinks are thankfully strong (everywhere else on the island they were weak). The Jalapeño hush puppies seem like they are made in-house, and they're very flavorful & crunchy. The hush puppies came with honey butter which was also amazing. The lunch grilled grouper fish taco was delicious & fresh. The salsa on it was very flavorful! The house-made potato chips are also great. Service was great (not rushed). They do need drink coasters (water was all over the table). We came back for dinner. They had live music. The outdoor seating is a nice touch, with a mix of open-air tables and some covered spots at the bar for shade. The drink menu is decent, with plenty of tropical cocktails to choose from, though the beer selection is surprisingly limited for a place that stays this busy. Most of the service seems to run through the bar, and while the bar staff was friendly, upbeat, and doing their best despite being absolutely swamped, the table service was pretty spotty. The food menu is just okay--nothing terrible, nothing standout. I ordered the Caribbean Jerk Chicken sandwich at lunch, and unfortunately it did not sit well with me at all. It upset my digestive system enough to derail one of my vacation days, which definitely colored the experience. One thing that stood out was the presence of armed security guards. Not necessarily a problem, but it does create a different atmosphere than you might expect from a casual beachfront bar. Many reviews have mentioned the parking. We stayed at the hotel, so it wasn't an issue for us but somebody sitting next to me at the bar was ejected by management for something related to parking. I'm not sure of the exact details because I couldn't hear the conversation well, but it seemed to have to do with either buying or selling a parking pass with someone else. There was another incident where an unruly patron had the police called on them after engaging with one of the aforementioned security guards. That said, these seemed to be atypical of the total experience. Overall, it's an entertaining spot for drinks and music, but the unpleasant food experience land it at a middle-of-the-road three stars for me.
