As such I popped in to grab a meal. Okay, it is takeaway, but that worked out well since I was staying nearby. Anyway, I found that the service was pretty awesome, though of course one does wander whether service at a takeaway shop really does change all that much. However, I guess the big question does come down to whether the chips were any good, and in that regards I have to say that they were pretty awesome. Oh, also, it wasn't too pricey either, so this is definitely a place to check out if you are looking for a meal in Swan Hill.

The interior was nothing special, but brightly lit and welcoming. Pretty standard Vietnamese menu, with spring rolls, pho, vermicelli bowls, stir fry, and fried rice, plus a few unique dishes. Swan Hill is not a culinary Mecca, and I expect you won't find a better place than this... come on in!

The food however didn't seem particularly like Thai that we've had many times elsewhere, including Thailand. We had the money bags and Chicken Satay skewers for entree. The satay sauce was very dark and missing something. And the moneybags were smallish and seemed a little overcooked. For mains we ordered the Penang curry chicken and chicken in mango. The chicken and mango was quite tasty. However the Penang chicken was very dark and not at all like the red creamy sauce in normally would expect to see. The chicken was very soft and there was plenty of food so no complaints there. Just the taste of the sauce was not true to the usual delicate flavours you would expect from Thai cooking. As we were leaving we asked the maitre d' if the chef was Thai. He said the chef is actually from Bali which to me explains some of the difference in cooking style. I would recommend going with an open mind as it may be a little disappointing that it's not a more traditional Thai style of cooking.

No heaters or any devices to provide warmth. No attempt made to offer me a table inside at a later time or even apologise. Very poor experience on what I was expecting would have been a lovely evening. So I went down to Java and was greeted by the always amazing staff there and made feel very welcome.

Luckily my eagle eye spotted the word 'Place' as we drove past a side street and a chalk board which was enough to make our way back for a second look. Boo's is easily the 'pick' for your coffee stop when in Swan Hill and after my visit I quickly added it to Yelp, to help out everyone else in the future. The coffee was great and hit the 4pm spot just right. It's a roomy cafe, with seating inside and out, and various bits of produce and grocery items for sale sort of thrown around the store, some in the front window, some on the side wall, also opposite the front counter and of course all along the counter. There's lots of organic options and I loved the mix in the fridge near the counter, from some meats to organic sausages, from green beans to lemons and chillis. The menu is extremely promising and whilst we only partook in some tasty muffins, there are plenty of menu options I'd like to try when next in Swan Hill. House made smokey baked beans on rye toast with fresh avocado stood out but it all sounded great. Worth a stop.
