Our Savior's is a large and active congregation, with plenty of resources and a good location and several service times. However. I've been here twice, with disappointing results. I went first on a lonely Christmas Eve two years ago. Not a single person spoke to me. The only interaction I had was an exchange of glances with the woman who kept staring at me because I was singing above a whisper. There was no liturgy (something I love.) I went home lonelier than ever to an empty house. I went back on a weekday several months later, to ask about getting involved in the community. I didn't know what I was looking for: volunteer work, a discussion group, whatever. The church office had no idea how to help me. They seemed confused that I was even in there if I wasn't a member. No one at Our Savior's was ever rude to me, just...unprepared. I'd like to say I'll go back on a regular Sunday, just to see if I caught people at a bad time. \Maybe I'll get around to that. Until then, Our Savior's impresses me only as the least welcoming church I've ever visited. I hope others have a better experience, and I sincerely hope to see some other posts here to either substantiate or challenge my impressions.

The positives of the school are the small class sizes and the feeling that your child is being…read morenurtured. The bad? The students are repressed-they're so scared of disciplinary action against them that they are timid and withdrawn in the classroom, for fear of lunch detention, suspension, or expulsion. In our case, we experienced all three...can you imagine sending your child to a school that expels children on a regular basis?? It happens here. Every year. In the grade we were in, we knew of three children that were expelled in that year... When there are 40 kids in that grade, and three are expelled, that is a serious and crazy rate. It really hurts the kids, their self-esteem, to think that they're not worthy of being there. There is definitely racism, bias, and preferential treatment. If you do get into trouble, there is no room for talking through said things- they decide and that's it. As an aside, the uniforms are awfully ugly. The principal is extremely strict. If you like a school ruled by authoritarianism and emotion (vice principal's mode of action) then this is the school for your child.

We met with Mother Raggs the priest and she was very helpful and informative. We enjoy the various times of services to fit our schedule.
