This is a difficult review because there are great upsides to this practice, but the downsides are unacceptable. And I promise I know because I spent years managing a vet office. The vets are great. Period. Very knowledgeable, and thorough. Great manner with pets, all that good stuff. The staff training could be way better tho. Here is why: I had a cat who developed a form of cancer. There was an experimental treatment but the vets could not locate the medicine online. I did and supplied them with the info to order it (it had to be ordered by a licensed prescriber). Several weeks go by and I call about 2x a week to see if it had come in. Then I wake one morning and it's obvious my fur baby was ready to let go. I call the office and ask for a euthanasia. Now I had always been taught that you never, ever say no to a client wanting to euthanize an elderly or sick pet. If the office is overpacked it doesn't matter, you find the time the same day. It's just the right thing to do because you trust the owner knows when their pet is in pain and suffering. I was told "Sorry we don't have time. We have an appt in a few days tho.". Then the kicker, the unforgivable breakdown in communication: "Why did you not come get your pets meds we ordered? We've had it for 2 weeks.". I didn't have words. I had called and called and was always told "Not yet". They deprived my furbaby a fighting chance with basic incompetence, then rubbed salt in the wound by saying No to an emergency euthanasia and offering to do it after watching my pet suffer for a few days. I ended up having another vet in town come to my home just a few hours later and compassionately put my baby to sleep in the comfort of our home. I wasn't even asking Red Hills to come out, I would have brought my pet into the office. The other vet I chose was so much more compassionate with an animal she had never treated than the staff at RHV. Had I ever said something like that to a client I would have been fired immediately. Had I told a client they had to wait for another day to euthanize; fired. And had my staff in the office failed to inform a client of important meds being available because they couldn't be bothered to get up and go look; double fired. And had the animal suffered or died due to that error?? No words. The vets are gold, truly. But office staff certainly needs better training on in-office communication, as well as client communication. read more

Red Hills is very thorough in their work, the staff is friendly and great to deal with, and the office is usually pretty good at squeezing you in for emergencies even when they're busy. Pricing is typically quite a bit higher than other places in town and it does feel like they're always pushing for the most expensive options for almost every case regardless of what is going on. read more

I only went there due to one vet who worked there; Dr. Emily Hake, who is kind, compassionate and a wonderful vet. She treated my senior dog with acupuncture. After my beloved dog passed, I adopted another dog and continued to go there until this past summer. I had an appointment with Dr. Hake and the staff didn't bother to call Dr. Hake's customers and let them know that she had left. I found out when I arrived for my appointment and they still didn't tell me! I said I was here only to have a conversation with Dr. Hake about the parvo/distemper vaccination. The staff would not give me contact information for Dr. Hake so I cancelled my appointment and left. I had a valid Heartworm test for my dog that I had gotten and the Community Vet Center (inexpensive for folks who aren't working or making much money) in June of this year. I needed a refill of his heartworm meds. Redhills informed me that they could only approve a 2-month supply until I brought George in for his annual in December. #1) You can not purchase Heartworm in monthly supplies. They only come in 6-month packs. So to put it bluntly, they refused to approve George's heartworm meds. And the Heartworm test done in June is good for 2 years, he was good until June of 2024! So, they would not give George his Heartworm meds. I was able to get them from Animal Medical as they are associated with the Community Vet Hospital. Redhills does not care about their animals they see. They only care about making money. What kind of practice uses manipulation to get you in for a annual exam 3 months early and holds not providing Heartworm for your dog until you make EARLY annual appointment then they will let me get a prescription of Heartworm meds for my dog. Shady practice with shady staff. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE. read more

Just brought our puppy here a few weeks ago to get spayed. The vet did an awesome job with the surgery and the pricing was great!! If we only had stopped coming to Red Hills after this I would have given a 5 star review!! This past week we are getting ready to travel the first time with our puppy. The workers at the front desk did not seem knowledgeable about the process and would not sign any of our sheets. My girlfriend had to go up there 3 times to get clear answers from them. Red Hills requires more information than the airlines do!!! That's crazy! They will make you tell them all information just to write a health profile for the dog. Then charge for the health sheet when we were in there 14 days ago.... pretty pitiful but we paid the price anyways so we can fly with our dog. I won't bring the dog here anymore even though it's only 3 mins away from my house. The staff needs better training and some customer service. read more

I'm sorry to give a bad review but we are disappointed with Red Hills Veterinary. Our sensation is their first concern is money. We made the mistake of taking our puppy in for an emergency. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to read the negative reviews on Red Hills Veterinary (which we later saw on Yelp and others sites). However, fortunately the next day we took our dog to our regular vet because we were so disappointed. Red Hills Veterinary Hospital, tried to keep our dog 2-3 unnecessary nights only so they could probably make more money off of us (we already payed them more than $700 for a dislocated leg and three meds). So instead of accepting, we took our puppy to our own wonderful vet clinic of fourteen years (also one of the most popular in Gillette). While there, they laughed at the idea of keeping our dog overnight. Red Hills not only tied very hard to take advantage of us, but they also bandaged our dog too tightly which caused him great pain. After 26 hours we took him back to the Red Hills and they took off his bandage, admitting it was much too tight and our dog instantly stoped screaming. However, the tight bandage caused some fluid buildup complications. Just be very careful going to Red Hills Veterinary Hospital in Gillette if you love animals. They are not professionals, not safe at all with the Covid19 situation, and they are not sensitive with animals. Also they are overpriced. This is the first time we feel obligated to leave a negative review and explain this situation so people can be aware. read more

We have been with them since 2017, but recently some financial issues had us behind on our wellness plan. Every time I called to speak to billing I was told she wasn't there and they'd give her a message to call me the previous day. Then they cancelled our wellness plans the other day and are no refusing to give us our medical records because we owe them. They claim I wasn't communicating with them, but I have no control over weather or not she was getting my messages from the front desk. I am highly disappointed and will be leaving this clinic. Prior to this I would have rated them 5 stars, but the fact we have been qith them for so long and they refuse to even work with us on the issue is very disappointing. read more

Hello my name is Richard I took my pets BB and Rocco to you folks since 9 2019 with no issues and great service and always paid up front Rocco has since passed away BB is getting old and had an issue recently that needed immediate attention had an appointment set up and was in a money pinch until the first of the month I was told I couldn't bring him in without paying up front I don't use credit cards no more and then the budget I'm in EXO oilfield worker I got hurt on the oil fields so my money is limited I figured as much as I had give to you folks that you would let me one time this time only take him in and pay the rest up front I have that other veterinarians that let me pay payments when I was in a pinch it disappointed me with you folks being there that long with you all and you guys couldn't wait for a few more days I was told the same day that they would get back with me and let me know if they could do it and pay the rest at the end of the month no one ever returned my call I am very disappointed.BB has been seen by another vet that will let me pay at the first of the month. read more

Dr.Gotfredson and his staff at Red Hills Vet Clinic do an amazing job! They have taken care of our dog Luna several times and we appreciate the care they give her, they treat her like she is one of their own pets! They are professional, get you in quickly for appointments, and have extended hours that work with our schedule. They do a great job checking in after visits as well to make sure Luna is doing well. We wouldn't trust Luna with anyone else! read more

These guys care about taking care of your pet. They really do. The technical expertise of the Doctors shows through. I personally know the Doctor and Office Manager and they have become my friends as they are quite genuine. If you need something they are there for you. Dr. Gotfredson has an excellent reputation and is trusted as he knows his stuff. Actually all the staff do. If you are going to get care for your pet, you might as well go to the people who have a proven record. They have one. read more

Have been there twice now for our cat, Grey. The first time we went, they told us he had a UTI, gave him some antibiotics, drain his blatter, did a couple tests and sent him on his way. He improved for a couple weeks then started getting really bad again. Got ahold of furr kids and they said they would help us with his bill, which was such a relief cause we really can't afford it right now with how slow work is. They certainly liked that. They ran tests which were completely unnecessary and gave him antibiotics. They did not drain his blatter, which needed to be done. They gave him a shot of pain medication but none for at home, but they did include some very useful ( sarcastic tone ) joint medication and a $50 bag of cat food. He will not eat, drink, or use the bathroom. I am very upset and have no idea what to do since they took up our visit with useless help and now we can't afford to take him back. So thank you so much for the no help you have provided. I do not reccomend this place to anyone who cares about their cats health or lives. read more
