Overall we have a great experience when coming here. This was our second Fourth of July here with kids. Pros: -Great location right on the beach and close to restaurants - Good for kids. Our kids loved the pools and activities - Indoor pool is a plus for bad weather - Our room was clean and updated -Music/ entertainment on some nights -You can use the sister resorts for activities as well Cons: - The onsite restaurant is terrible. We were hoping it would be better this year since they said they were revamping but the food wasn't good. Most people leave the resort for meals. You can also get poolside service but took over half an hour to get 2 drinks - Our room was next to a hallway and people were slamming the door coming in late at night which woke up my kids a couple times. Would be nice if they had soft close doors - upon arrival we didn't know our card had been locked due to suspicious activity and initially declined. Front desk employee seemed very annoyed. Stayed in ocean-front room for one night to celebrate our anniversary. Nice view of the ocean is the positive, but for spending $600+ per night, there were multiple issues. When we checked-in a bit early, our room was not ready so they said they would contact us on my cell phone when it was ready.... We were never contacted. I had to call them and was told it was ready. I told them no one ever contacted me as they said they would to let us know when it was ready. They proceeded to tell me we were contacted but we were NOT (I checked my text messages as well as phone calls) and told them so. Wi-Fi was spotty which was frustrating; the bathroom sink AND shower did not drain properly (when you took a shower the bath water was accumulating at your ankles). We told the front desk about this issue via telephone & also when checking-out mentioned it to the manager at the front desk). There was also a small spot of dried blood on the pillow-case which is unacceptable, however, we didn't bother to mention this to staff since they didn't seem concerned about our backed-up shower & sink... so why bother?! We will return to The Riviera down the street and not return to The Red Jacket. read more

Not a Resort--Just a Pricey Motel with Beach Access We paid over $500/night (plus $25 parking & 20% auto-gratuity) for what felt like a dated motel with a pretty view. The only great part? Nature: the beach, flowers, breeze, and bunnies. The "Resort" Reality: * Parking: $25/night--no spots when we arrived (on a Monday night). * Room: Looked like the photos, slept well. * Coffee: 1 used pod, 1 hazelnut. * Breakfast: Buffet nearly empty at 9:30 AM. Ordered à la carte--raw eggs, missing toast, slow service. * Atmosphere: Chaotic. Screaming kids, crying babies, coughing, spilled food, no peace. * Beach: Towels require 1 card each--only given 2. No beachside service. * Food/Drinks: Few options, overpriced. $17 for a plain burger, $15 for weak mixed drinks. * Pool: Packed with kids. Cabanas are rentals--no casual use. * WiFi: Gone by Day 2. That was the last straw. We left early. Some staff were nice, but overall service was inconsistent. This place leans on location and nostalgia, but the experience doesn't justify the price. This resort seemed to be recently updated and in comparison to other properties I saw on the Cape during my travels, feel it was one of the better ones. Our room had a full ocean view and quick access to the beach, which was nice! Also loved the newly installed full bunk beds in a room w a King - this was a selling point for me and my crew as everyone was able to sleep comfortably in one room! Overall there were a few things I felt could be better - weather stripping around entry doors and new windows in the bathroom or a cleaning of those windows, along with better bedding system for the bunks. Not sure I would call it a "resort" as it's more of a beachfront hotel. Staff was super great and accommodating to just about every request we had. Just returned from a 2 night stay at this resort. The resort just opened 2 weeks ago after going a huge renovation. The location was beautiful, grounds were clean and welcoming. However despite having a major renovation I feel there was corners cut. On arrival our room was not ready we rented ocean front 2 bedroom sleeps 10. We never got a call to say it was and we finally went back to check and it was. The room was nice and large the bunk beds were great I wish all hotels had those! (Coming from a mom with 4 kids) however we quickly found out or brant new renovated room door does not secure.... At all. Eventually we were able to pull it closed to lock but then the latch was stuck and we were unable to open it. Maintenance tried to fix it but it was a bigger fix then they could do with us occupying the room. Also the room walls were paper thin. We lucked out and could only hear people in the hallway but my sister rented the room below us and had very disrespectful neighbors who were up all night yelling. She also could hear when we got up and walked around. The room doesn't have anything but beds and a table and a real small mini fridge. The bathroom doors would not close, the screen to the porch was already knocked off and it was only open a week or 2. Beds were comfortable. Indoor pool was huge but over packed with kids(it was April vacation) overall it gave more of a motel feel on a resort budget. Would I stay again maybe the kids had fun and you are right on the ocean. Just this time I would know what to expect. read more

They have a solid catering team which has pulled off lobster dinners for 150+ people, and their breakfast options were yummy. Their facilities are quite dated. Not worth the money, food is awful, coffee terrible and expensive, almost 5.00 for an 8 oz cup. Burger 21.00 and buns were stale. Buffet breakfast cold and overcooked food. You pay daily for parking and a spot is difficult to find if you come back to hotel later than 9 pm. The rooms have outdated furniture and bedding is scratchy and pillows are like rocks. The outdoor pool has a dirty ring around the entire pool rim. The spa is also not worth the money, we booked a couples deep tissue and "massage" was basically a rub down, and they left the room at the end without saying a word I gave 2 stars for the landscaping and beach, both were ver nice. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! we spent 7k on 5 nights and to be honest it isn't worth $300 a night, let alone $1300 a night. Here is a list of things we experienced we sent to the manager during our stay on 8/10/24-8/15/24. I will now list out all the items that were broke, subpar, health concerns or did not work at all: 1. no wifi, called several times about it, only to be lied to by your staff...they acted like it was something new and they would look into it. I spoke to a neighbor who was checking out and they informed me that the wifi had been out since 8/7/24 when they had checked in. very unprofessional on so many levels and you caused me stress and anxiety because I had to do some work while I was away and could not get it done due to no wifi. 2. kitchen faucet was so loose that it was about to come out of the hole in the countertop, we had to use 2 hands to turn water on and off otherwise it would just spin as you shut it off. I have a video of faucet to show you 3. air conditioner only went down to 68 degrees, which is not anywhere near cold enough for me 4. air conditioner filter was absolutely disgusting and got my allergies going so bad I could not stop sneezing. I called and had maintenance bring my a new filter so I could change it myself, this is for sure a health concern due to lack of maintenance. I have pictures of it to show you if needed 5. Tv in 2 out of the bedrooms do not work at and with no wifi we could not even log into hulu or something. 6. upstairs bathroom fan turns on but does not draw out any air so the one mirror that is on the entire 2nd floor is fogged up for 30 minutes after each shower, was not fun for my wife to try and do her makeup 7. 2nd floor bathtub drain didn't work 100%, water builds up you shower, very gross and not sanitary to say the least. 8. the safe was not secured to anything and was stuck in open position on a shelf in the closet, so our valuables were not safe while people entered our unit when we were not home 9. as I mentioned above, we had to use back slider to go in and out all day, this means we were not able to lock our unit up the entire time we were there. read more

I'm only giving 4 stars because at breakfast you can only get the 30.00 buffet. When I asked if I could just order toast or English or a bagel I was told they needed to check. Waiter very nice but told me unfortunately if I wanted toast, I had to get it to go. If I wanted to sit and have coffee and toast, I had to pay the 30.00 buffet price. What???? We chose this venue for my daughters wedding (6/14) and couldn't be happier with the decision. The resort itself was recently renovated and is "Cape charming". The rooms are typical but clean and comfortable (especially the beds). Our Guests (100) were happy with the accommodations, but the stars of the show are the staff. Karen Rood (wedding person) was absolutely Fantastic! She handled all the vendors/deliveries/timelines and was an absolute gem to work with. Their list of preferred vendors is top notch - from the makeup/hair people to the band. The food and beverage service did not disappoint. I dont know who the chef is but all our guests raved about the food served - clam chowder, lobster rolls, chicken piccata, beef tenderloin, etc...We planned this wedding in 3 months (sight unseen) from Chicago and encountered absolutely no problems. I would highly recommend this resort for a charming Cape vacation or for an event. read more

Ok, let's start with the ugly and end on a good note. The family alcove room, avoid it. It's basically a king bed with two rollaway beds. Also, the sheets don't fit on the twin bed so those will come off every night. The rooms themselves need some serious updating. I feel like I was staying at my grandmother's house. Also, check out the mini fridge pics. Honestly how hard would it be to install a fridge with a door that swings the other way as opposed to needing to move the curtains to utilize the fridge? The dining.....horrible. The food here is worse than a college cafeteria. The pizza was so bad I literally spit it out. Not for nothing (to establish a baseline), I've got 28 years of eating MREs and am far from a foodie. This was just gross. Now on the bright side...the staff! All of them were pleasant, professional, and eager to help. Tommy at the bar was great. And Jill from the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. I understand some things are limited due to Covid but it is clear this is a top notch staff. The beach set up is great. Plenty of beach chairs already laid out. Private beach makes for a nice experience. I never had to compete for space. The indoor and outdoor pool were also very nice. I'd recommend more seating at the indoor pool as that seemed pretty limited. The local area had plenty to do for families. I took my kids to go kart tracks, whale watching, an inflatable water park, and plenty of other things. Honestly, improve the rooms and food and no doubt I'd give this five stars. read more

I do not have words to express my LOVE for the Red Jacket. The staff is their best asset. They are kind, thoughtful, and supportive. They go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be. I have to give special shots out to their front desk staff!!! They have gotten to know me, and make me feel like family. I understand renovations are coming during the off-season and cannot wait. The private beach, the pools... the events for all... it can't be beat dollar for dollar. Also, must give a huge thumbs up for the handicap-friendly environment. Ramps are every place and they have a few ADA rooms. It is my understanding they will be expanding the number of these this winter... as well as changing the stair access to the beach. read more

The food service hours are limited and the bar situation needs to be reconsidered for convenience. Great for families nice pool and kiddies pool. I have a lot to say about this resort but i'll keep it short. The only thing good about this borderline motel was its proximity to the beach. After a long 5 hour drive, we were instantly met with unfriendliness from the staff; one young man who was working a fishing event even went as far as talking down to my little brother who just wanted to replace his bait. Our room was a total disappointment and took an eternity to get ready. The first night I broke into hives from something on the sheets and found hair on the pillows. The second night I pulled back the newly made bed to find black stains on the sheets I asked to be replaced. Don't waste your money on this place, pay more and stay on the Cape. read more

We stayed at the red jacket beach resort in late August 2023. I spent more than $1600 on two nights and had the absolute worst experience. When we checked into our ocean view room that I spent extra on, there was vomit on the bed and on the floor. While the cleaning crew did come to clean it up quickly, our bad luck just continued. Then we went out to enjoy the beach for the day and it was completely inundated by seaweed. You couldn't even sit on the chairs because they too, were surrounded by piles and piles of seaweed, and no one ever came out to rake the beach the two days we were there. When we went to enjoy the indoor pool, there were signs on the door stating that it was closed for "emergency cleaning purposes". Following our stay, I completed an online survey about our experience, and I was immediately contacted by the manager, Hollie. In our email exchange she told me that they were going to be going through renovations over the winter and they're sorry that we had such a bad experience. She then told me that we could use the email string to "make it right," after the renovations were completed. That was last September. Since then, I have tried on four different occasions to email her to ask about scheduling a time to come back and try the resort out again for one night since she was, willing to "make it right." All four of my emails have been completely ignored. A bad stay is a bad stay but what's worse is a manager who promises something and doesn't follow up on her promise. Visited for a wedding and two members of the wedding party were placed in the wrong rooms and the staff nastily blamed THEM for it (as if they magically got the keys themselves??) and even threatened to call the cops and have their stuff removed if they didn't leave (even though they were an hour away at that point). There's good, bad and ugh. Note to self and others: read reviews. Location is lovely, prime beach sand, private-ish road and beach, two pools, on site dining, self-laundry. Free bikes and kayak rentals. Lots of beach equipment. May be designated a No Smoking resort, but lots of smoking outside in the common areas which then flowed right into the rooms, including ours. Dining option(s) updated and acceptable, wait staff generally good and friendly, front desk staff tried to accommodate us. Beds, bedding and pillows were comfortable. Nice TV with limited options. Now, the not good: This is an updated old hotel that has seen a lot of action, and the layout is dated (small bathrooms and sinks, old air conditioning units, pergo (vinyl wood-look floors), sand everywhere). Daily room cleaning incredibly uneven; one day, beds made, no clean towels left! Then towels, but no coffee pods left, floors always gritty. We have no children, and this was a family friendly location (read loud kids everywhere and into the night, running up and down the halls, preteens left unsupervised, talking and laughing outside our patio till midnight plus). But the worst was: There was NO INTERNET ever in our room or wing, we had to sit in lobby or back corner of restaurant to answer emails, research restaurants, things to do. That was very awkward. So if you have kids, or spend all day on the beach, or don't need internet, this could work for you. read more

Just got back from a family vacation that we stayed at the red jacket resort for. This is an annual trip we as a family take to the cape. I had very high hopes for this "resort" but sadly they did not come to bear. The pools were great 1 inside and 2 outside pools all heated which was needed with the unseasonably cold weather we experienced. The outside amenities were good but sadly they close at the first sign of rain or clouds. The staff was a mixed bag, had one man who worked very hard to find my 3 year old a Popsicle and then some of the pool staff were too busy chatting with other employees to be helpful and seemed annoyed when asked to do something. The room had a great view and had some updates but for the most part was pretty dated. This was a family suite, the room my daughter slept in smelled like vomit and no matter how much frebreeze I used would not go away. The location and the beach would challenge any spot in the cape with plenty to do nearby. Overall it was a nice spot but may look somewhere else next year. read more

My family booked this "resort" (NOT) in February 2024 for end of June gathering. We arrived close to 12:30 and were told that Red Jacket staff would let us know if the room became available before 4pm. There was NO attempt to contact people and a LARGE line lasting over 30 minutes occurred at 4pm. The room appeared OK, beds OK, the outside screen fell off, the drain was full of hair and would not drain. For some reason we had to reset the refrigerator and A/C frequently. The beach access was nice. Pool OK-not spectacular. Staff (other than front desk) friendly. We stayed Thursday and Friday which with all the added fees and parking came to $841.50 or $420.75 per night. DEFINITELY not worth THAT price! Despite their written policy 2024: GET THE FAQS ABOUT RED JACKET RESORTS WHAT IS THE E-CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION POLICY AT CHECK-IN? At check-in, an authorization equal to your room rate plus tax will be placed on your credit card. Using a credit card instead of a debit card is recommended to avoid potential holds on your funds. You are not obligated to settle the bill with the check-in card. Without any notification I found two HOLDS on my credit card. One for the correct amount of $482.24 and another for $582.24--- so be warned, they have an unauthorized field day with your credit card. Regretfully this whole escapade ruined our gathering and I CANNOT recommend Red Jacket Yarmouth. read more

Book this place for the location and beach access, not the rooms. The accommodation was OK. We had an oceanfront cottage with sliding doors that open to the beach. We absolutely loved that aspect of it. We loved walking along the beach and visiting a few different ones within a 1 mile stretch. Plenty of beach chairs and outdoor seating. The outdoor pool was heated in October and very nice. Overall we had a great COVID friendly stay, and spent a lot of time outdoors. The beds and bathrooms were dated bit manageable. For the coat of $500/night, there are vacation rentals along the Ocean. For this trip we thought we'd try a resort with a pool. We had a great time, the staff was really friendly. We wouldn't necessarily come back year over year mainly because the place itself was dated, a little dirty, and ventilation was not great. read more

This was our third year at the Red Jacket Beach Resort for our convention. My family likes to attend, they enjoy the beach and other amenities while I attend meetings. When we arrive we were greeted by familiar, beautiful, smiling faces. The rooms were remodeled during the off season. The beds, flooring, decor were all new. Honestly, I love that they took out the carpeting and replaced it with flooring. The colors used in the rooms suit an oceanfront property. I do not like the new toilet paper holders! Every time I took paper the darn roll fell to the floor! Maybe it's me, I don't know, but I'm not a fan. My favorite things? The shower curtain rod is seamless. This means the curtain hooks don't get caught on the rod, smoothe from left to right! Love that! Then there are the electronic charging stations. Yes, stations. There are 2 USB, one USB-C and one electric outlet on each of the headboards. In addition to those the same configuration is at each end of the TV table! There is no need to worry about the electronic devices, there are plenty of charging stations to go around! The views are amazing! The property is steps from the beach!Hands down, my favorite part of the Resort is the people, the front desk, the dining room, the pool attendants, grounds keepers, servers; everyone is top of the line! We have stayed there with my parents who were visiting Boston in September 2018. I have never actually got the hype, especially having paid for our rooms way more that we would for a much higher quality resort elsewhere (especially after the previous vacation with my parents we had in Europe). The hotel is simply okay. It is old, but not falling apart, it is modest but not ugly, it has a decent swimming pool, and the views from the balconies are nice. It is one of the few hotels on the Cape with a private warm water beach access. But it just doesn't have "it" and it is ridiculously overpriced. Yes, it's Cape Cod and higher pricing is a way of curbing demand over supply, but still. Also, the private beach is not maintained - during our stay it had towering piles of dead horseshoe crabs. The stay wasn't bad. My parents were excited, we walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner, we took a dip in the sea (on a public beach, ironically, as it was cleaner), but there was nothing special and nothing worth the money paid. Just got back from a 3 night getaway. I read some of the reviews good and bad. Here are my thoughts. The hotel is your typical hotel on the cape. The room was actually fairly big. Bathroom was tiny and the bath tub didn't drain well. Nice size balcony to hang out on. The room was very clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable. I don't think I would pay for ocean front especially on the 1st floor. There's a lot of foot traffic coming and going. I was looking forward to the hot tub but it was broken. Outdoor pool was cold not heated very much same with the indoor pool. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The attendant would setup your umbrella for you and there were plenty of chairs. Room for volleyball, whiffleball and throwing a football around. We didn't dine at the resort so I can't comment on that. Looked like there was a lot of folks ordering food on the outside patio. Live music daily starts around 4:00p to 7:00p. Some were better then others. Staff were pleasant. Just remember when I guest is present don't think they don't understand Spanish and that's all as I'll say about that. This is where I'll talk about corporate greed. How can you justify charging $25.00 a night to park your car! There's plenty of parking it's just another way to enhance profit without adding amenities. Try using that money to fix the hot tub! They'll cry and whine about the added expense for labor but what they won't tell you is that they got away with paying poverty level wages for years so they can hit their NOI. read more

Completely disappointed. The grounds are nice but that's the only positive in terms of this place for a family vacation. Staff friendliness has been 50/50. We did arrived around 3:30 in the afternoon, the room smelled clean but the beach was littered with trash. They are not following the advertised protocol at the overcrowded pool (wiping down chairs etc.) there were dirty towels everywhere and no clean ones available My biggest complaint is that THIS IS NOT the place for a family vacation. I sensed this upon arrival when there were large groups scattered about with the beach and pool loungers grouped outside their patios alongside their coolers full or booze. As I write this at 11:30 at night I hear 2 loud radios battling, a group of about 10 outside our oceanfront room playing cornhole, yelling, cursing and laughing. There is no noise curfew according to the front desk it is a "common courtesy" which the surrounding guests clearly have none what so ever. The desk did say they would send security, if they did nothing has changed and I sit here with my children still wide awake. For the couple thousand dollars for 4 nights, I expected to be able to sleep. If this continues another night we will be checking out early. read more

I've never been to less hospitable resort. When my family started coming here years ago, there was nowhere better to stay on Cape Cod. In the last 3 years there has been a slow decline in service, which this frequent stayer attributed to the pandemic. But after the sale of Red Jacket last fall, the service has become far worse. The management staff takes no responsibility in any flaws and the only help you get is "you'll have to speak to the GM" who hasn't been here to answer any question during my week long stay, yet I keep being told "she'll be here tomorrow." If you like spending big money for no return, this is the perfect place for you. read more

Extremely limited food and beverage options: Outdoor grill only had beer and water AND ran out of chicken breast one day. How do you run out while having access to many stores to purchase??? Speaks to complete lack of concern for customer experience. Bar by pool didn't even have iced tea and limited soda options. Quality of facility not great. One men's room by lobby and smells terrible. Several rooms mysteriously all lost access on same day and not only had to have inconvenience of going to get new ones but staff didn't acknowledge prob. Door to bathroom in room didn't close correctly. Maintenance came and showed us way to close, as said management prob won't want to fix. Good reviews on other sites must have been during former ownership.As soon as we walked in there was an old smell-maybe from smokers back in the 60s, 70s. The sheets were terrible and bottom sheet wouldn't stay on. The walls are very thin. Commode needed to be flushed twice,or held down a long time.There is a picture that Todd M. posted that shows what it was like.I was too disgusted to take photos.The t.v didn't work.It took 3 times for a man to come to get it working.The ATM didn't work. Coke machine didn't work. Walls were dirty and needed updating.Getting a call to front desk was difficult.I finally got approval to mail a pkg. only to be told when I walked to the front desk they only mailed cards.OMG.The couple at the front desk were not helpful at all. I'm going to keep it simple, all I can say is this place was a freaking dump. Waste of money and time with awful service and gross rooms.

Very mixed review here and I think it comes down to the room rate. $900 for two nights to get a pool facing room is steep so it comes with expectations. Many were not met. Undeniably, the location is great. They have a huge private beach, facing the gulf. Calm ocean water, clean sand, plenty of chairs, towels, and umbrellas all provide for you. We are from Long Island...grew up at the beach and very picky when we go. We enjoyed our time at the beach. For the cost of the resort it would have been great to have some beach service for drinks, even soft drinks as signs posted prohibited alcohol...a sign largely ignored by many. The hotel experience was not as great. Check in was fine. Front desk was friendly enough and the room was ready. Self park, no staff to help with bags or to direct you to the room. When we entered the building, you are hit with 1985 hotel smell. Very unpleasant. The room was a fair size but the "two double beds" were small full sized beds and very, very uncomfortable. It's hard to have a great weekend when you can't sleep for more than two hour stretches. The room has a large deck that overlooks the pool. Nice but the deck furniture is dirty white plastic with no cushions. The bathroom is no frills as are the 2'x3' sand paper towels. Not an exaggeration. The grounds are kept nice. The outdoor pool area is well done but for our stay, they did not have any service at the pavilion. You had to go inside the bar to order out lunch. The service in the bar was interesting. The bartender was visibly upset and flustered by having to tend to 5 orders for lunch and literally no one at the bar. He would make comments under his breath and then way out loud in frustration when the phone would ring or if the cash register did something. We asked for unsweetened iced tea and he insisted it was not on the menu and said "we must be from down south". We live in MA and I have no idea what his comment meant. I politely showed him where they offer unsweetened iced tea in 2 places on the menu. One check and and he found the pitcher of unsweetened tea in the fridge. Burger, hot dog, chicken quesadilla and 3 drinks...$50! Pretty outrageous for a fast food style pool side lunch. Later, went back in to throw away our take out bag of empty containers and be yelled at me saying I passed 4 garbage cans on the way in. I did and they were all full, told him so and left the bag anyway. An hour later, walked back up from the beach to get a drink....4 people in the bar....one already served....same bartender is in rare form at this point. 20 min...still hasn't taken my order, screams something and literally runs out of the bar. I left without a drink. Honestly, the problem is bang for the buck. The accommodations and service do not equal the price to stay. The beach and grounds are very nice and their location in the cape near Hyannis makes it an attractive place to want to stay. We didn't hate our stay...just think it was worth $200 a night not $450. It's the beginning of the season and I would think that the rooms would be in better shape. Peeling wallpaper, dated furniture, faulty shower head, faulty AC window unit, old carpet. My family has been coming to the Red Jacket Beach Resort for six or seven years now but this was our first summer since the property, together with the other five hotels comprising the Red Jacket Resorts group, was sold by the family-owned Davenport Companies to New York City-based EOS Investors in November 2021. For those not familiar, the Red Jacket Resorts portfolio comprises the Red Jacket Beach Resort, Blue Water Resort, Riviera Beach Resort, Green Harbor Resort and Blue Rock Resort in Cape Cod and the Red Jacket Mountain Resort in North Conway, NH that was badly damaged by fire in May of this year. The new owners took the opportunity to immediately and dramatically increase the pricing at all of these hotels. Our stay at the Red Jacket Beach Resort was more than $150 per night more expensive than last summer. I state this fact because in the past we have always stayed at the Red Jacket because it offered reasonably good value relative to the alternatives. This hotel/motel has long been tired and in need of significant investment and repair (since we've been staying) but the price point was reasonable enough that we were willing to accept its shortcomings. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The Red Jacket Beach Resort was built in the late 1960's and shows it. Although we have not stayed at the other "Red Jacket group" hotels/motels our understanding from various friends is that these hotels are in similar states of neglect. I took some pictures during our stay and plan on posting these alongside this review so everyone can see for themselves what I'm referring to. Specifically, take a look at the condition of the hot tub which is located next to the indoor swimming pool. Frankly, I can't remember the last time the hot tub was actually open during one of our stays. Although in retrospect looking at its dirty and filthy condition in these pictures I'm glad that they had it closed down so that no one in our family was actually tempted to get into that thing. Also, have a look at the tennis court and basketball court. They might as well take a Bobcat to these things and demolish them. These "amenities" look like they have been left untouched ever since the hotel/motel was built 50+ years ago! If you or your kids were interested in playing tennis or shooting baskets during your stay at the Red Jacket Beach Resort you'd better find something else to do as these courts are essentially unusable. Frankly, it's amusing that they even continue to show these "amenities" on the resort map. It's very misleading. I have also attached a few other pictures of our room and the hotel/motel's common areas so that you can see for yourself about its general condition. I was almost willing to let all of this slide when I got out of bed our first morning there and walked into the lobby/restaurant where in years past I would be able to grab a quick self-service complimentary cup of coffee to go and then go take a walk on the beach. This summer, however, they had moved the coffee urns behind the bar. No more complimentary coffee! "That will be $3.61. Would you like that put on your room?" the girl asked as she handed me the coffee. It obviously wasn't the $3.61 that bothered me. It was the fact that, on top of the significant increase in room rates they were now also nickel and diming me for my morning coffee that I used to be able to get for myself. For something so small, it was a big turn off for me. Lastly, during our stay we learned that at least two other guests had booked their stay at the last minute and at a significantly lower rate. So, that was also frustrating to find out. To the extent that, (notwithstanding all of the other recent negative reviews) you are determined to stay at one of Red Jacket Resorts hotels/motels and you have some flexibility it may be worth your while to wait for a lower rate. I certainly felt like a sucker for booking early. For the record, I do not begrudge the new ownership for jacking up the rates at these hotels. I more or less knew what we were getting when I made the reservation because we have been there before. Unfortunately, I was caught by surprise by the rate increase and was too busy at the time to look into other options. However, I also think it is important for other travelers (in particular, potential first time guests) to understand what they are and are not getting for their money at the Red Jacket. This is a very tired, 50+ year old, two-star hotel/motel that happens to be a good location. If that's what you're looking for at this price point then great. Otherwise, look elsewhere. In our opinion, the Red Jacket is no longer the value proposition that is used to be under the Davenport family's ownership. There are too many other options these days, including AirBnB properties, to have to settle for sky-high prices and a very mediocre and tired product. read more

Have stayed here many times in the past years and had a great experience - right on a private beach, great views. Will never stay here again after new ownership has implemented a $25 per night parking charge (for a resort with NO alternate way of getting here other than driving, this is extortion). New owners also took away the complimentary morning coffee station - coffee is now available for sale in the bar for $4 for a 12oz cup of drip!!! In the context of this being a 3-star property/resort on the cape, I think that overall, my Labor Day holiday weekend experience at Red Jacket was great. You get a lot for the money, when you really think about everything they offer and the experiences they provide for every age, and especially right on the beach! All things considered, the rates are priced right for in-season/holiday mid-Cape. I've read many reviews on this site, but I think the reviewers' expectations must have been for a minimum 4-star level property. (There were guests I witnessed who clearly felt it was all about them. So, take some of these reviews with a grain of salt.) I work in real estate investment management and, for a 3-star property, I had a wonderful four-night Cape Escape, and literally everything met my expectations consistently. Thanks to everyone for working together to make it so. I was delighted to be able to check in a couple of hours early, just prior to my planned Friday afternoon massage, which was the best I ever had. I am not exaggerating. (I have been getting about 4-5 massages every year for over 3 decades.) Lisa was clearly a 5-star masseuse, applying several unique techniques that relieved my stress level and muscle tension, leaving me feel relaxed and ready to enjoy my four-night summer weekend escape. Thank you, Lisa! I was impressed with the on-property spa itself, too, as it was relatively large with a quiet lounge and cold bottled water after my treatment. I was welcomed nicely and treated kindly and respectfully in a genuine way. I really appreciated this. For mid-cape, the room was a good size with plenty of lighting! I was on the 2nd floor, ocean front, and away from the "grand central" area of indoor/outdoor pools, outdoor bar/entertainment space and children's activities. Ice and vending machines were well located throughout the property. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom fixtures all worked properly with excellent water pressure. The food was delicious and fresh! I selected both breakfast buffet and off-the-menu breakfast choices, depending on my mood. I opted for the omelet station when it was available. I did get a burger at the outdoor grille one day and a chicken sandwich on another day. It was super-convenient to not to have to leave the property for a daytime meal. Otherwise, I ate so much at breakfasts that I wasn't hungry for lunch for the other two days. The servers were among the kindest and fun staff I've experienced. it was really nice to talk to each of them. The GM was super friendly and welcoming. The registration and on-property staff were respectful and professional. I was surprised about the $25/night parking fee, but I realized this is primarily for security services, and I felt great after thinking about that. They seem to have that aspect under control, both during the day and nighttime. So important. I liked that the property was at the end of the road, with nowhere else to go; so, you don't hear drive-by vehicles adding an unwelcome noise level. I used the free bicycle "rental" and appreciated that, not only because it was complimentary, but also because the bikes were right there and in great condition. So, you don't have to figure out the rental logistics or take a long walk or drive to a bike rental company (which I didn't see anywhere nearby.) Note: the bikes are one speed and on the small side. I used the complimentary on-property beach chair and umbrella set-up service by Guillermo, who was a gentleman. The beach is large and very clean (aside from the large amount of coastal seaweed and dead horseshoe crabs, but, that's south mid-Cape for you). It looked like the staff disposes of the dead crabs regularly. I would have gone in the water, had Amazon delivered my beach shoes in time. Lots of lounge chairs; no need to reserve them in the early morning hours by placing the provided beach towels on them. I didn't use the pools, but it seemed everybody else did; they were clean, packed and lively. It was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and hearing fun and laughter, especially after the isolation during the pandemic. The children's activities looked fun for the kids; the daytime events reminded me of my days in summer camp. There were free popsicles one day. Nice touch. In summary, great weather, great food, excellent service, various amenities and events, great room, awesome view, comfortable sleep, convenient in many aspects, and competitively priced in-season.
