Red maple is my families favorite for Chinese food and a must when I am home visiting. And we love Bronson and his team! Our usual order is shrimp ball with tofu, eggplant with pork, shrimp fried rice, vegetable delight, salt and pepper shrimp the shaken beef. All are so good and enough to feed our family. The servers are always great with us and attentive and I can't wait to come back!

Ordered the dinner for two special, first thing we got was the soups, both soups were cold and had little flavor. The next thing to arrive was the kung Pao chicken, then the white rice. The rice was warm but the Kung Pao was cold and majority of it was veggies. Next we got the appetizer (cream cheese wantons), those were our favorite thing from the menu. They came out hot and the flavor was great! The broccoli and beef was the next dish and it was freshly made, it came out hot and was good. Not a lot of flavor but at this point we were very hungry and had no other choice but to dig in! Lastly the orange peel chicken also came out hot and it had good flavor as well. Overall the wait time for the dishes was ridiculous, only four tables were occupied. The place was slow and the service was painfully slow as well. Save your money and go to panda express for quicker service for a lot less money!

Red Maple is on my to go list to eat at during my stay here in SLC. We made it in this morning for a nice round of dim sum. I have been looking forward to this joint all week. We made it in a little after opening. I was worried about it being overly crowded but it was a great time when we came in. We got sat right away. While getting sat, seeing the little ladies pushing the carts full of food just brought pure excitement to my heart. I knew I was in for a real treat. We started off strong! We got started off with a big helping of char sui. Then everything else started trickling in. Haw gar, shu mai, congee, sticky rice in lotus leaf, calamari. Then the gai lan, fried shrimp balls, long shrimp noodles and of course our sweets came shortly after. We probably ordered enough food for 8 people. And man was it worth it! The char sui was flavorful and tender. The shu mai was savory and meaty. The congee was very warming to me soul. I loved the doughy bread pieces that they topped it off with, I just wish there was more. The lotus leaf sticky rice was tasty and had big pieces of Chinese sausage and shitake mushrooms. The fried shrimp balls were fresh and hot! The sauce they pair with it is similar to walnut shrimp. The sweet sauce and the savory shrimp ball was such a good tasty combo. They were so tasty! I loved my taro cakes. They were slightly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The Chinese broccoli was so fresh! The calamari was tender and salty! It had a slight heat to it fun the jalapenos, so good! I had a little of everything, it was hard not to have it all! I wish everything could have been perfect. The haw gar was kinda cold which was odd since they barely just opened. The wrapping on them was hard which is a bummer cause the wrapping is my favorite. I do wish there was more noodle to the shrimp long noodle. It was nice to have a huge piece of shrimp in it but more noodle would have been great. The service was great! The venue is huge and can accompany a huge crowd. The food was 85% there and I was happy with it! I got my dim sum fix. It brought back so many childhood memories for me. Being in San Francisco, having little old ladies pushing food carts around showing us all thier goodies in their carts. It was a great way to start my Sunday and I'm happy I got to start it off at Red Maple today.

Had an hour to spare so stopped here for dinner. I loved it!! I was greeted right when I walked in, and got served water immediately when I sat down. I ordered the dim sum sampler and chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The dim sum sampler was the perfect order! I got to have a variety of dim sum and 2 of them are what I usually order at dim sum anyway! It was perfect!!! The chinese broccoli was great as well. It was served with rice as well. Great portions, great pricing, great tasting food, and even better service!

Dinner was fantastic, the service was quick and friendly. Dim sum sampler, and the PonPon beef is a MUST have. Never tasted anything like it anywhere else! Will be dropping by any time I'm in the area. The Szechuan golden fish soup was delicious, and the mouth numbing was a pleasant new avenue of spice. The fish was delicate and tender, truly a very good dish.

We ordered the sesame chicken and there was a chicken nail cooked into the chicken in two of our pieces of chicken, and I bit into it and almost broke my tooth. It was so gross I couldn't eat anything else. We had the pot stickers and they were made out of this very weird textured and nasty tasting meat, we also couldn't eat them. And then the egg drop soup had mushrooms in it and we didn't know, and we have family that is allergic to mushrooms so we couldn't eat that either. We called to get our money back and they tried to tell us that it was not a chicken nail and that it was a piece of chicken with fried flour but it definitely was not. And then we were on the phone for 30 minutes tried to get a refund and the owner was yelling at me on the phone and by the end they told me to never call in again and order because I complained about all of their food. I will not be coming back and the health department needs to be called.

Red Maple has been in this area for several years. The building is definitely showing wear and tear, but the food is always delicious here. Our server today was kind and attentive. My go to dish French style beef is consistently so tender and flavorful. Atop a generous portion of sautéed onions and plated inside a lettuce leaf. It was my first time trying the whole flounder. Which is deep fried whole and served with a soy type sauce and scallions. It was tender and moist inside. I wish they would trim the outside border of the flounder (fin) where a lot of small bones and little meat is. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The sesame beef looked dry, but it wasn't. I don't know the preparation process for this dish, but it has a crunch on the outside and tender inside. A slightly sweeter soy marinade and served with fried wonton wrapper as a garnish. We also tried whole shrimp that had a soy ginger glaze. Another delicious dish. Red Maple has an extensive menu. You really cannot go wrong here. I'll be back to try more dishes.

Red Maple had me feeling like a Kung Fu master - conquered mountains of delicious food! General Tso's chicken had a kick like Bruce Lee's roundhouse. Definitely recommend for hungry pandas and adventurous eaters. Just avoid the fortune cookies - they seemed to predict my future food coma. Ask for Lenny! She is amazing!

Ask the Community - Red Maple Chinese Restaurant

Is food served family style? Or are portions individual size?

They have both options which is really nice !

Are they now open for sit down/dine in?

    Yes

    Are dogs allowed?

No, they are not allowed inside the restaurant. I believe that's the same of all restaurants in Utah unless they have an outdoor patio.

Does they have good vegan/vegetarian options? Thanks!

I'm not vegetarian but The meals that have veggie is real good. Ask them to leave the meat out.

Are there special hours for dim sum for the New Year this Tuesday?

Dim Sum is off the menu no carts on Chinese New Year.

Hi? What are the Sunday hours for dim sum? Picking up family at airport around five next Sunday and thought this would be a fun place to go, but didn't know if we'd be too late for full dim sum.

The sign on the door says "Sunday: 10 am to 9 pm"

They serve dim sum throughout the day so it was a win win situation. Most dim sum is in the morning so the fact we can have it for lunch was great. Walking in, I expected the joint to be nicer. Not necessarily top of the line but nicer. It was dull, crowded and dated. The lady behind the counter guided us to our table. We did breeze over the menu but I already knew what we wanted. We ordered a handful a handful of things. It all looked good on the menu and these were some of my favorite dishes growing up. Black bean spareribs, shu mai, haw gow, taro cake, lotus leaf sticky rice, bean curd with meat in the middle and long rice noodle with shrimp. Everything is pre made and sitting in a steamer bath. I would have been willing to wait for the dim sum to be made fresh instead of it just sitting around staying warm. Honestly, if I would have known that they were pre made, I probably wouldn't have come. The black bean spareribs were fatty and lacking black bean. The long rice noodles were already sauced so the sauce was thick and dry on the noodles already. The haw gaw was cold. The clear wrapping on the haw gow is my favorite and it was tough. The stuffed bean curd was pretty bland. The lotus leaf with sticky rice was good! It was hot and the filling was savory to the sticky rice. The shu mai was savory. The only thing that was honestly cooked cooked was the taro cake. It was actually steamed and then grilled. It was really good! I love the crunchy exterior and the soft middle. Half of the food was good and the other half was so disappointing. As dated as this joint is, I know places that look dated can produce some of the best food! I was hoping that this was going to be the case but it wasn't. Service was basic. It was uncomfortably warm inside the venue today. I'm happy I got to try it out but I don't see myself coming back for a second round.

This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. For starters, we ordered the Wor Wonton Soup. The broth was rich and hearty. The shrimps were large and plentiful. All the vegetables blended in with the flavors. I just wish the beef was a little more tender. A little marinade in baking soda would fix this. We ordered some chicken lettuce wraps. This has minced chicken, celery, bamboo shoots, and carrots. These are good by themselves but are best with hoisin sauce. I just wish the lettuce leaves were bigger. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was also good. The sauce had a nice blend of mayo, honey and lemon. It had a little too much breading for me but still tasted good. For $16.99, I wished there was a bit more shrimp. One thing I really appreciate - they GLAZE the walnuts! This is one of the few places that I actually like the sauce and they glaze the walnuts! The Crispy Beef is definitely my favorite. In fact, I think this is better than the one I get from Red Maple. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of heat. Again, I really wish they would marinate the beef in baking soda to soften it up. The last dish we ordered was the Garlic Chicken. The server forgot to put the order in for this dish and there was a rush to get it out to us. They forgot to put garlic in this dish so wee sent it back. It was perfect when it came back.
