She checked on us regularly, kept our drinks filled, and made sure everything was perfect. The food was just as impressive. The Kitchen Sink Quesadilla was loaded with flavor and cooked perfectly. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious--the perfect way to round out the meal. Between the good food and Nicole's outstanding service, this was an easy 5-star experience. The ambience and the food presentation was fantastic! The ambience gave me a sort of modern rustic vibe, which I love. The food tasted okay, but it definitely lacked spices and in my opinion needs some TLC. One menu item that caught my attention was the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese: three types of cheeses, Granny Smith apple slices, bacon slices, and sourdough bread. Now I thought that the apple slices come on the side right? Nope, they were cooked in the sandwich. I don't know who came up with the concept of adding the apples into the sandwich, but whatever; I've tasted weirder things. Still, the sandwich didn't taste bad; that's just a weird concept in my opinion. The worst part of our service was the server. She didn't exactly introduce herself, but she did ask how we were with an apathetic tone. Like I said, she didn't tell us her name. Only way I can describe her is she wore eyeliner, red lipstick, and her blonde hair in a clip. During our visit to the restaurant, she just seemed like she hated her job and was emotionally constipated. When I wanted to substitute a side order of white chicken chili with the Grown-Up grilled cheese (I knew there would be an upcharge), she told me in a somewhat aggravated voice that there would be an upcharge. I told her calmly that I understood as the menu had specified. The only time she came by was to ask if we were done with our plates or needed a coffee refill, but not on how the food tasted. But yes, our server was probably the worst part of our visit. I've met Russians who were less cold than our server. I was invited here to meet with a friend. Arriving early gave me an opportunity to review the menu and generally check the place out. The hostess was nice greeting everyone with a sincere smile and greeting. She asked them if they had a preference regarding seating. Great to see customer service. I k, the alcohol situation, there isn't any. So forget the mimosa and Bloody Mary and sprinters. My friend and I both had the biscuits with sausage gravy. Unfortunately, the biscuit was very hard and the sausage, gravy lad flavor. The presentation was excellent, and the service was outstanding. OOOO my goodness - my 4th of July started off with a bang when I found Red Oak Café in League City, Tx!!!! The place was packed and there was a line of people waiting - I knew that was a good sign! The line moved fast and the staff were like worker bees - everybody getting the tables cleaned, people seated and orders taken with in minutes of sitting down. Mary the Manager never missed a beat - she was making it all happen and made it look effortless - with a smile on her face. Our server SAL was top notch, explained everything on the menu that I drilled him about - really painted a picture of what the items was all about, helped me with making a selection! Give that kid a Gold Star - he is my server for life at Red OAK. He took care of us with a smile and quick service, what a shining star they got when they hired him! Now for the food - mercy is all I can say - the biscuits were out of this world - flaky, fluffy and fabulous! I got the Breakfast special and everything on the plate was perfect - the bacon was nice and crisp, hash browns were golden and egg really over easy - cooked to perfection. THE Pancakes - eyes rolling back in head - the biggest, fluffy golden brown things you have every seen and the syrup came in a glass carafe that warm syrup was an extra special touch. The coffee was their own brand and the flavors were Pecan and Cinnamon, very smooth, and very hot and refilled often. Do yourself a favor and go to Red Oak Cafe in League City on Main Street and ask for Sal and get ready for a great expericence and excellent food and service! The secret is out on this place for sure but I can understand why!! Yea it's busy and you may have a wait but it's so worth it! Service was great and the food hit every craving! Oh my gosh, I love this place. We have eaten here or from here four times in the last three weeks. (We are experiencing a remodel of our kitchen after a flood mishap.) Red Oak Cafe is our go-to place for family breakfast gatherings including for daytime celebrations. One time we were celebrating my mom's birthday and Father's Day and saw some visiting colleagues also in attendance. It was a great surprise to hear this place had been recommended to them and they later said that food, ambiance and service were all top. Our latest plus was that they also offer a veteran discount which we had never known before - as both my husband and I are veterans it was a pleasant surprise. This is a nice brunch spot that had great prices but service was highly lacking. Our food took a long time to come out and the place was moderately busy. Our server had a bit of an attitude from the moment she greeted us but I thought nothing of it. Our food took about 30 minutes to come out, which we felt was a long time for breakfast. The server never checked on us from dropping the food off to our check coming and even then she was being a bit short and snippy. Our water glasses sat empty for most of the meal. My friend noticed other tables around us being checked on by our waitress and skipping us over. Not sure exactly why since we didn't do anything to provoke this treatment. Food was good and cheap for the portions. The pancakes were amazing and fluffy and the scramble was flavorful. I absolutely love red oak Café, this restaurant almost always exceeds my expectations. To start the restaurant is very pretty. It's a little tucked away off one of the main roads in League City but when you get there, it is so worth it. The staff is always very kind. The food is incredible. I almost always get an omelette or some type of breakfast burrito. It's a very clean establishment. It's locally owned in operated. Was really really disappointed- the place was packed (as it usually is) and we love their food. But we were told the wait was 15 minutes because we were a party of 2 and there were only 2 tables available one for 2 people who were waiting outside likely and one table of 4 left. I asked about the open table and the server said he wanted to save it for a larger party. So unfortunately we left because we were there ready to sit and eat and turned away from an open table because we didn't have a large enough party. Amazing! Lucky to have found this gem not too far from the family's house so it'll be our go-to places when visiting! Pro tip if you get pancakes get the strawberry butter. Also they do offer gluten free bread for a charge but if that's part of your diet it's good know it's available. Plenty of parking in the plaza and waiting area in front with a bench right outside.
