Great place, hot , yummy food dozed portions served with a smile. Went there as we were in the area. Huge crowds , but prompt service , clean tables and very reasonably priced . If again in the area we will visit again. I had the hash it was 3/5 ok as the potatoes were boiled and loads of cheese and some seasoning but my daughter's breakfast quesadillas were the bomb . The ambience and the food presentation was fantastic! The ambience gave me a sort of modern rustic vibe, which I love. The food tasted okay, but it definitely lacked spices and in my opinion needs some TLC. One menu item that caught my attention was the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese: three types of cheeses, Granny Smith apple slices, bacon slices, and sourdough bread. Now I thought that the apple slices come on the side right? Nope, they were cooked in the sandwich. I don't know who came up with the concept of adding the apples into the sandwich, but whatever; I've tasted weirder things. Still, the sandwich didn't taste bad; that's just a weird concept in my opinion. The worst part of our service was the server. She didn't exactly introduce herself, but she did ask how we were with an apathetic tone. Like I said, she didn't tell us her name. Only way I can describe her is she wore eyeliner, red lipstick, and her blonde hair in a clip. During our visit to the restaurant, she just seemed like she hated her job and was emotionally constipated. When I wanted to substitute a side order of white chicken chili with the Grown-Up grilled cheese (I knew there would be an upcharge), she told me in a somewhat aggravated voice that there would be an upcharge. I told her calmly that I understood as the menu had specified. The only time she came by was to ask if we were done with our plates or needed a coffee refill, but not on how the food tasted. But yes, our server was probably the worst part of our visit. I've met Russians who were less cold than our server. I probably won't return unless the server gets an attitude adjustment or just leaves. read more

I was invited here to meet with a friend. Arriving early gave me an opportunity to review the menu and generally check the place out. The hostess was nice greeting everyone with a sincere smile and greeting. She asked them if they had a preference regarding seating. Great to see customer service. I k, the alcohol situation, there isn't any. So forget the mimosa and Bloody Mary and sprinters. My friend and I both had the biscuits with sausage gravy. Unfortunately, the biscuit was very hard and the sausage, gravy lad flavor. The presentation was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Oh my gosh, I love this place. We have eaten here or from here four times in the last three weeks. (We are experiencing a remodel of our kitchen after a flood mishap.) I have had the spinach salad two times, chicken salad sandwich, one time and eggs Benedict in House. My husband has had tuna salad, turkey sandwich, spinach, salad, and something else. The secret is out on this place for sure but I can understand why!! Yea it's busy and you may have a wait but it's so worth it! Service was great and the food hit every craving! The pancake with pecans was the standout for me... the amazing creamy butter and the addition of pecans complimented this perfectly made pancake! Price point was amazing too! I absolutely love red oak Café, this restaurant almost always exceeds my expectations. To start the restaurant is very pretty. It's a little tucked away off one of the main roads in League City but when you get there, it is so worth it. The staff is always very kind. The food is incredible. I almost always get an omelette or some type of breakfast burrito. It's a very clean establishment. It's locally owned in operated. I remember finding out about it because I believe it was on Food Network at some point! never watched the episode or show it was on but I heard about it and thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad I did. read more

Red Oak Cafe is our go-to place for family breakfast gatherings including for daytime celebrations. One time we were celebrating my mom's birthday and Father's Day and saw some visiting colleagues also in attendance. It was a great surprise to hear this place had been recommended to them and they later said that food, ambiance and service were all top. Our latest plus was that they also offer a veteran discount which we had never known before - as both my husband and I are veterans it was a pleasant surprise. This is a nice brunch spot that had great prices but service was highly lacking. Our food took a long time to come out and the place was moderately busy. Our server had a bit of an attitude from the moment she greeted us but I thought nothing of it. Our food took about 30 minutes to come out, which we felt was a long time for breakfast. The server never checked on us from dropping the food off to our check coming and even then she was being a bit short and snippy. Our water glasses sat empty for most of the meal. My friend noticed other tables around us being checked on by our waitress and skipping us over. Not sure exactly why since we didn't do anything to provoke this treatment. Food was good and cheap for the portions. The pancakes were amazing and fluffy and the scramble was flavorful. Was really really disappointed- the place was packed (as it usually is) and we love their food. But we were told the wait was 15 minutes because we were a party of 2 and there were only 2 tables available one for 2 people who were waiting outside likely and one table of 4 left. I asked about the open table and the server said he wanted to save it for a larger party. So unfortunately we left because we were there ready to sit and eat and turned away from an open table because we didn't have a large enough party. My high school theatre group stopped here on our way to a competition, and the service was INCREDIBLY fast, the owners were so kind, and the food was delicious! Our group had 34 teenagers, and 3 directors, and the servers were still able to get all of our orders in, and none Of us had complaints about the food. Amazing! Lucky to have found this gem not too far from the family's house so it'll be our go-to places when visiting! Pro tip if you get pancakes get the strawberry butter. Also they do offer gluten free bread for a charge but if that's part of your diet it's good know it's available. Plenty of parking in the plaza and waiting area in front with a bench right outside. Prices are fair for the portions you get. Our server was great even if it was during a morning rush. Great for groups or smaller size parties as well. Will be back for more!! read more

The food was absolutely amazing! The pancakes nearly put me in the best food coma I've ever had. Just fair warning, one is enough to share! Yes, they really are that big!! I had a plate with a biscuit, eggs, choice of meat, and loaded grits that came with two pancakes. Needless to say, I had leftovers for a couple of days. So so good! The waiter, Luke, was super friendly and checked in on us often. At times he just brought a new cup of coffee as if he was reading my mind. Excellent service by Luke! So thank you to him! My only draw back was that the space we were seated in was in a row of small tables that were the main traffic route from the kitchen to the dining area. Huge trays kept going over our heads and I had to duck down a couple of times. Im only 5'3 so I don't know that anyone taller could sit there. It was hard to have a conversation and keep up with trays passing over our heads. All in all, this place is amazing and definitely worth a trip out there. The vast majority of breakfast restaurants have essentially become bars that serve food, some better than others. That is not a criticism since there are times that alcohol and traditional or trendy breakfast dishes are are scrumptious accompaniments however it is quite impressive when you encounter a breakfast restaurant which is not a chain or 'big box' and serves only Southern or Texas style, with incredible efficiency and sense of service as you experience at the Red Oak Cafe...but either make a reservation on-line or be prepared to wait as this most popular Breakfast spot...if you are a walk-in you will find SRO and they will try to make your wait as short as possible but the popularity precludes a quick seating. There is an array of fresh juices, apple, cranberry and orange, deliciously flavored pecan coffee (not sweet...just a pecan finish) and a variety of drinks for a wholesome family meal. The eggs, perfectly cooked (had mine over easy and they were perfect) and indescribably delicious pancakes that the manager told us are typically 1/2 eaten (there are 2 with each order the size of platters) and the remainder taken out which given the lightness and flavor I would suspect her comment not a myth but a reality, myriad sausages, ham and/or bacon and grits which were the best prepared I have truly ever eaten in a restaurant setting was enjoyable and more than ample. I am describing "The Big Breakfast" which is one of a myriad of breakfast dishes served. If you find yourself in League City or apparently Alvin (another of theit locations), I would by all means avail myself of the opportunity. read more
