On our way back from Branson, we found the Red River Café. We're glad we did. It was exactly what we were looking for. A small, welcoming, country Café. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and promptly waited on. Our server was friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food was served hot, fresh and fast. I guess even more most importantly...it was good. I had the Hickory burger, and it was cooked perfectly to my liking. It's a big burger, fresh toppings, and served with plenty of fries. My wife had the Philly cheese quesadilla, which was the daily special, and it was very tasty. She also had the onion rings, which were uniquely prepared, and good and crispy. Yummy. There was several freshly prepared desserts. We opted for the large oatmeal cookie and three freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. They were good! The world famous chocolate roll was terrible. It was served wrapped in plastic wrap without a plate and was room temperature, as though it had been sitting out for awhile. It didn't have much flavor other than butter and/or grease. The chocolate filling inside was semi-solid and looked like brown sugar crystals. This little spot is amazing. We were traveling back to Hot Sorings from Yellville and lunch time hit when we were just before Leslie. Reviews were good so we made the call to stop in. As we pull into the parking lot my husband getting very excited as he was realizing this was a place he'd eaten a few years before and couldn't remember where it was as he travels the state frequently. His excitement was real but even after all that I was impressed! It was a Tuesday when we stopped in, the special was Chicken fried Steak or chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes with brown or white gravy. My husband had the hamburger steak with onions, brown gravy and mashed potatoes with gravy. The vegetables tasted slow country cooked with bacon seasoning and a little bit like a hug from your southern grandmama. The only thing that was missing was the "Have you eaten baby? Here's your glass of sweet tea!" Seriously- sooo good. Okra and green beans tasted fresh picked from the garden, creamy airy mashed potatoes. Meat portions were more than adequate. My husband said he hadn't seen me eat everything on my plate in 5 years until then! The roll seemed to be a handmade yeast roll and was the perfect way to ensure not a drop of that amazing gravy was lost! My review doesn't even address the beautiful little spot this sits on, outdoors landscapes with beautiful local stone boulders overlooking this picturesque view of the river. Ate here with my 2 daughters and the food was not very good. My Philly was way overcooked like little bacon crunchies and my daughter's burger as well. One of my daughters got a chicken wrap and she liked it. The rest of us not so much. Probably didn't help that our service was non-existent. Like our waitress didn't want to be there. They rang the bell at her 3 times that our food was ready and she made the comment out loud "don't ring it again, I'll get it". I had the CFS daily deal; Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Seasoned Green Beans, and a large Dinner Roll - for only $8! My CFS was thicker than the usual thin chicken-fried steaks - and seasoned hust right for me! The ladies had the same special, except with Fried Chicken - it was a big hit all around! We were full, but they had so many dessert options we had to try a couple; the 4-Layer Chocolate Pie, and a Chocolate Ice-Cream Cone - both were excellent to the last morsel! Been passing by too many times so we stopped by this morning. Easy parking. This place is clean, even the bathrooms are Clean. Seating there is no end to the seating. Portions to price, I find this is a great deal and worth it. View of the river while eating is great. I like their coffee. I would recommend this place. read more

We had a wonderful lunch at this cute little cafe. I had the lunch special with chicken fried chicken and it was so good. My husband had the burger with fries and he said it was perfect. We topped it off with a delicious piece of strawberry pie. Everyone was friendly and inviting. We'll definitely stop in again next time we're in the area. read more

9/3/22 we visited at 10:30 am. We were quickly seated and given menus. Very nice and clean environment with the establishment being open about a month. I ordered ice tea, ham and cheese omelet with hash browns, and wheat toast. Hubby ordered the same omelette with biscuits and gravy. Omelette looked about the right size, with small diced ham through out. Hash browns were thin as a pie crust, very small portion, all crackly brown. Biscuit was a good size although the gravy was lukewarm. I received white toast instead of wheat, not buttered, no jam or jelly in sight. Wait staff did not check with us throughout our service, it it was like we were forgotten. At tleast 10 employees on the floor, with 6 tables filled. No ice tea refill. We might give them sometime to find their footing, and pay them another visit. To many better restaurants in immediate area. Stopped in there about a month ago at lunch time. Sat there a fair amount of time before a waitress finally came over to the table. I had a hamburger steak, which came with a couple of small sides in little bowls. It was ok, but about what you'd get from a frozen dinner. Waitress never came back to even offer a drink refill, nor to bring me the check. Had to walk up to the register, and the young girl at the counter had to figure out where I was sitting and what I had ordered. Not a very good first impression. read more

We got our own menus after 1 table came in & Their order taken. 2 more tables filled & their drink orders taken so we stopped the waitress. Last fall stopped by after they first opened and got the catfish. Really think it needed to be cooked longer. Hoping that their kitchen staff was getting in the groove and decided to stop by again. Food came out quick of course, but quality not happening. Spouse thought hamburger had a greasy taste and so did fries. My chicken strips were good, but I made the mistake of ordering Mac and cheese. It appeared and tasted just like Kraft macaroni and cheese. It was shocking because the menu considered it a premium side. It's definitely worth stopping and trying. You won't find a better breakfast. Great biscuits & gravy, eggs cooked perfectly, the sausage is whole hog, like the sausage you grew up with! The place was clean, really clean. Why not 5 stars? The service was slow...caught em on a bad day. They were busy. Finally, and this is a pet peeve, the coffee quality was mediocre and I LOVE COFFEE! Service was the worst this time. Food was good as usual. Waitress was not very attentive and it a much longer time to receive our food. We dined at Red River Cafe for the first time a few weeks ago. We had the catfish and thought it was delicious. The portions are quite large and everyone at our table wished we'd ordered the three piece meals instead of four. All the sides were excellent as well. The service was awesome and the wait staff was friendly. The desserts are all homemade and yummy. We'll definitely return and sample other items on the menu. My wife and I have eaten here multiple times and I will have to say, the food and service has been top of the line. We finally just got the chance to visit a Friday fish night.
