This was our last museum visit in Antwerp since it was the farthest from the center. We took the tram and then walked less than five minutes from the stop to reach the museum.
A helpful booklet was provided when we purchased our admission tickets. Bathrooms were downstairs along with free ockers where everyone was required to store their bags or backpacks.
Housed inside the former Red Star Line building, the museum covered a wide range of topics about the history of the Red Star, immigration westward, people profiles, fleet of ships, conditions by class of service and more.
We also climbed all the way to the top (a lot of steps since the elevator was OOS) of the attached tower for a view of the surroundings. The tower was supposed to look like a ship's funnel.
It was one of the least crowded museums during our visit. Worth seeing. read more
