She explained the Pool Sharks usually use that to their advantage by placing bets on the table on slow nights. There is also a coin machine to change your notes if you have trouble finding the change for a game. The stage shows are constant, and the skill of many of the dancers is breathtaking. The stage rotates slowly, and I was informed that the poles are all static (not spinning). I advise keeping your seat when the performer is close to you as I saw a man narrowly avoid being accidentally fly-kicked in the head. The dancers are fully naked by the end of their performance (four songs, usually). The music is most often hip hop, RnB, or dance/techno, with the occasional rock n roll or latino style song thrown in. The ladies all look fabulous and the costumes are the sort of thing you'd find in Rihanna's "naughty" drawer. The bucks parties I witnessed were loud and looked like fun, with the buck receiving special attention from most of the girls. Doors are at 5pm every day, and entry ranges from $10-$20 depending on the night and how busy it is inside. Word of warning to the ladies: take two or more male friends the first time you visit, as the dancers will guess you "just got dragged along" (it was actually my suggestion XD). Drink prices range from $8 to $20, and bottles of spirits, champagne, wine, etc can also be purchased through the bar along with the attention of multiple ladies.

The studio itself is comprised of 3 spaces, The Small Room which is a skateboard shop, a bar and outdoor space and then the room in which art is exhibited. The exhibitions change frequently and I went in to check out their last one for this year. The actual studio is as interesting and eclectic as the art it displays. OK, so it smells a little like cigarettes, but no one is perfect! There's nothing pretentious or fancy about it, the perfect place to take someone who doesn't go regularly to galleries. It's the kind of artist run, community gallery that can be difficult to find nowadays, all the more reason to support it. There is also the added bonus of being able to hire the space for events or functions. Even if you're not a great fan of art, Love Love Studio is worth a look. I sometimes question the calibre of art on display, but that's probably just me being a snobby GoMA regular.

The dance floor goes off on Fridays and Saturdays with a large array of events from local live bands to international DJ's. If it's your first time in Brisbane and your looking to sample what a 4am Valley dance floor can be like, I can't recommend a place more than this. Be aware that nobody you meet will remember you though, its tradition to be completely written off at Bowler. It's a tradition you should embrace with open arms or at least appreciate from the sidelines. Also be aware that you will be in the presence of some of the most attract women in Brisbane, so dress the part.

Then our hand was stamped after getting our tickets scanned. The space was really open and we were able to find a great spot to watch TKST (The Kite String Tangle). I noticed that the water line was incredibly long because it's a water fountain and they give you little white cups. I'm not sure if that is what holds up the line or what. The venue is pretty ventilated and I didn't feel overly heated. The show was great and people around us were friendly. People could enjoy the artist and I like that you don't have to worry about a dress code. You can wear what you want and not stress about flip flops. Would definitely come back here for another show.

The stage is pretty large (large enough for all the members of Broken Social Scene to fit) and there is ample room for the crowd. There is a nice sized bar that offers most drinks but don't ask them for rum as they will not serve it to you. There are also pool tables and a few tables to sit at. The place may look a little rundown but for the clientele, that is not a worry. If anything, it adds to the appeal. The Zoo has been around for as long as I can remember and is not going anywhere anytime soon. It is a great venue to see bands in Brisbane.

I used to enjoy coming here with friends for a dance, and honestly, The Met does have an amazing dance floor with music that resonates in your ears for hours afterwards. Unfortunately, at $20 for an entry fee, I don't really see the point. I'd rather invest my $20 in a few beers or ciders than waste it in one transaction. For $20, I'd have to really love the place. And the juice isn't really worth the squeeze for me when it comes to The Met. I used to love getting lost in the multi-level layout of this place back when I was a fresh-faced 18 year old. Sigh, nostalgia. But now when I want a dance, I just habitually mosey to Rics. I feel like a night at The Met requires more investment than I'm willing to give: high cover charge, excessively tight dress and excessively high heels, an open mind about music, and the acceptance that at least three people will want to grind on myself or my friends. Forgive me, but I'm not keen enough. It's not The Met's fault, we've just grown apart and want different things now. It's not The Met, it's me.

You'll never wait more than three minutes for a drink, and the bartenders are really nice. I don't believe it serves food but it is a nightclub, so that's normal. It's got great security so it's a very safe club with nice college age students who are the normal clientele, so it isn't super sketchy. That being said, it's good for all ages!
