And, as an added bonus, the City of Camas is a delight! Longer Answer: I love artwork. I understand everyone has their own tastes. Mine seems to be eclectic. I own everything from original pieces, to vintage travel posters, to signed lithographs, to lots of treasures in between. And one of the best places in the Pacific Northwest to peruse, and purchase, all sorts of fabulous pieces you will treasure is in Camas, WA. It is called The Attic. Unless it is just a hop-skip away, consider looking at their website. I was enchanted! We stopped on the way to purchase a motorcycle in Portland when I mentioned I had seen something on-line. The gallery is fun! It is well lit and spacious without being too echo-y. It is not gigantic, although it is bigger than it looks from the sidewalk. There were several people there when we arrived, looking through the artwork and yet it didn't feel claustrophobic, yay! I also have a bit of a thing for quality customer service. I do not care for pushy, but I also do not want to feel I am some sort of an imposition by being there. Especially when you are talking about something as personal as artwork, and again when there are several potential clients who wandered in at the same time, that can be a tough situation to manage. The gals at The Attic handled it beautifully. I felt seen and acknowledged from the moment we walked in. Yes, I had to wait my turn, fine. When it was my turn, they could not have been more attentive, informative and appreciative. I ended up not purchasing either of the pieces by Earl Hamilton that I had found on- line. Instead, I purchased a completely different one by him that I absolutely love! I will also say I think I showed wild amounts of restraint by not buying several other pieces I fell in love with that day...at least not yet... ; ) The Attic knows their artists. I finally stepped into the space and wow....If you have an interest in excellent regional art...you have to visit them! I "spotted" many known artists from the Pacific Northwest. (At the time of my visit, Jack McLarty, William Reese, Gregory Grenon, Chris Haberman, Rene Rickabaugh, William Elston, Nelson Sandgren, Allen Green, Sherrie Wolf...and many more). It's different than the usual art gallery. For one thing the walls are peg board (no doubt because they are changing up the art frequently). Somehow the peg board doesn't distract from the high quality of the work. It is bright inside and there is room to navigate to see everything. The woman who greeted us was friendly. She likely "curates" the collection, because most everything I saw was beautiful and (bonus).....affordable!

I was able to see glass sheets being made and take a tour of the factory and Resource Center. The staff was friendly and helpful and I had a whole new appreciation for the amount of work and quality controls that go into each sheet of glass. I really appreciate that the company works hard to retain their employees and create an atmosphere of collaboration. Seeing the thought that goes into creating the glass not to mention the choreography of the adding and mixing (and yes, I DO mean choreography!) to make the combination of colors. I have a cane so for me it was a lot and I had a friend with me who was a lot... she's sort of scattered and we looked at several panels. She was a bit overwhelmed as she was meeting me. I was a few minutes and the person there she said was very aggressive. I get it but also she was aggressive with me too when I entered. We were just trying to get her to leave us to look.
