When I first came here, I was really excited about getting some bread because it all looked really yummy! I picked the sausage croissant. The first bite that I took (right after I paid for it) was cold. Gross! I had to eat the whole thing because I was hungry. I was really disappointed because I wanted some nice warm bread. I decided to give this place a second chance so I came the other day and got the parmesan garlic bread. It still wasn't warm. Very disappointed! The breads here taste good (that's why it's two stars instead of one) but I don't think I will come here again.

And of course they have the somewhat infamous cakes that look like cute little puppies. The prices are good and the quality of the breads and muffins I have had are reasonably good too. This deli is huge, and it's easy to get lost in aisles of towering cheeses; pasta sauces; ready-made and ridiculously healthy meals; gourmet ice cream, gelato and sorbets; and olive oils. Seriously, there are so many varieties of olive oil, it's hard not to believe you're in Italy. But the best part? The huge selection of gluten-free muesli (yes, there is the Byron Bay's own Brookfarm Muesli [though exceedingly expensive it is outrageously delicious]) as well as dairy-free gelato and the gluten-free pasta. And it's not just the spaghetti which is gluten-free, it's everything from squid-ink pasta to tagliatelle. As for the deli section WOW, I love love love it. The antipasto selection is vast and all super tasty. I am not someone who likes olives, in fact I can be found discretely trying to spit them out, however the olives from zone fresh are delicious and you can find me fighting for the last one! Definitely try the stuffed olives with brie and sweet chilli. You can also order platters from zone fresh. I have ordered some for this weekend so i will report back. The butcher section is also fantastic. The meat, poultry etc is all delicious and great quality. You can get some handy hints from the butchers for recipes for dinner. I also love the oil selection in zone fresh. My husband is a chef so likes to experiment with different things. This store is a cave of treasures for him to create culinary delights. Half the fun of visiting is wandering the small but well stocked aisles to look at what products are there. For example, the toothbrushes made from recycled yoghurt containers I carried home from Wholefoods in the US - stocked here. Plus, the owners have branched out into a humble but delicious cafe where you can enjoy eats like the mushroom and mango salsa burger (DELICIOUS) or a sweet treat (like chocolate ganache cheesecake - totally vegan) from the cake cabinet. The coffee, Sacred Grounds, is organic fair trade and not like any blend I've tasted. Plus for those of us that can't handle too much lactose, I'm 99% sure my flat white was made on soy or almond milk which gave it an interestingly pleasant taste and yet no after effects of too much milk.

The cafe has opened early (ahead of the grand opening in mid Feb) with a limited menu of acai bowls, smoothies, juices, cocowhip and coffee. For a limited menu, there'a still a massive selection and I had a hard time deciding between the options. The fruit used in our order was fresh and bursting with flavour. The shaves of coconut was an unexpected twist and now a staple request for anywhere I go. The coffee was excellent, a well trained barista created a full flavoured coffee - no milky coffee here! The coffee cups also had a cute coffee pun printed on them - you'll have to go buy one to read it yourself! Turns out I met the owner when I went in and she was helpful with the menu and delivered an excellent product, reflecting the staff training being done before the opening is paying off.
